The ABCs of a New 'Ohana Adventure-G is for: Greetings From Teppan, Good-Byes, and Good News!!! - COMPLETED 1/7

The churros at Nomad Lounge are very tasty! They're naturally made to be gluten free (though don't let that fool you into thinking they're healthy! they're definitely not sugar free! lol) A little fancier and doughier than snack cart churros, but very good. They serve them with vanilla sauce and strawberry chilli sauce (or something like that. The strawberry one has something to give it a kick.) I definitely recommend dipping in both sauces at the same time.

I think I very well get those next time I pop in. YUM!

Oooh dear...it's liking picking a favourite child. Winnie the Pooh is very nostalgic for us. I suppose my favourite dark ride would possibly be Spaceship Earth? Haunted Mansion and Peter Pan make close seconds/thirds.

All super awesome choices! I hope they never change SE (or at least much!). HM and PP, of course, are pretty great! HM, might be my favorite. :goodvibes

I thought not, but... thought I'd ask anyway. :)

My trips to DLR always seem very short. I know people say it's a one day park... I respectfully disagree.
Oh! Yeah, good reason to skip it.

Yeah, but next time I go, I might not!

:sad2:
I know. I still get a little sad whenever I pass the area it used to be at, in MK.
Great ride. Shame that no one (younger generation) has seen the film or knows there was a cool ride there once.

It makes me sad that the majority of the younger gen doesn't know about a LOT of classics. The Apple Dumpling Gang, Herbie, Wonderful World of Disney... heck! The original Mickey Mouse Club, for crying out loud!

Nope. I put the sashaying mode on hold and put my feet in "high speed" gear.

Zoom, Zoom!!!

Ohhhhhhh… Okay! Got it! Thanks!

:thumbsup2
But of course.
I can make up all kinds of crap. I'm a dad, you know. It comes with the job.

But of course!

Sure! It'd be fun to get the gang back together. Maybe Elle or Kay could tag along. :)
Sure!! Sounds great!

We called for a Lyft from Alison’s place where we’d spent a perfectly comfortable night. In no time at all, our ride showed up and we were whisked to…

...the wrong drop-off point. :sad2:

Ay caramba. Come on, people!

Never fear, food usually fixes my ‘tude.

So say we all!

I was seriously not prepared for the incredible job Imagineering did with this area. I honestly had no idea this was even a thing, I hadn’t read about California’s Halloween celebrations in advance, so all of this was brand new to me and I was like a little kid all over again seeing things for the first time. Everything was a fun surprise!

Wow, this all looks great! I agree-very clever.

Then again, if they’re over-selling tickets/entry, it could be a colossal bummer too.

Oh, come on. Disney would never do something like that.

It does nothing but make me want to quit my job and drive around the Desert Southwest taking in all of its grandeur. I suppose that’s what retirement is for…

Yeah...I sure do know that feeling.

Add to this story:

He had just....

He had just finished the last bite of the enchilada, with extra beans. It would have been fine, but as he stepped outside, he noticed the vendor selling chili dogs...

And thus began the Legend of the Chunkydump.

After the appropriate hugs, greetings, and awkwardly complementing each other on our outfits (cuz that’s what’s done when you don’t know folks super well, but will once you get that out of the way)

Well, it's a t-shirt, cargo shorts and a ball cap, but thanks!

What can I say about the new coaster? Track is the same, no changes, but the new storyline is great! I love the voices and cameos throughout. I didn’t experience it, but the tubes, according to this article have piped in Choco-chip cookie scent. They also serve to deflect noise from the ride and riders away from the residential/business side of the ride and back into the park, thus allowing for the attraction to meet noise abatement codes of the cities of Anaheim and Garden Grove.

Cool! I missed out on that ride in my one visit. Definitely need to go back and try it.

The appropriate answer should have been, “Because we will all feel like puking afterwards.”, but we threw caution to the wind (which is much better than lunch) and hopped on.

So...yay?

We then parted ways until that evening. Su-Lynn was just (almost literally) arriving from Singapore and was totally wiped out and jet-lagging so they took off to nap and get ready for dinner.

Singapore! Yes, that would be some serious jet lag.

I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to the close proximity and ease of getting from place to place at DLR!

Definitely one of the top 5 things about DLR.

1) Churro, pretzel, or eggroll?

Depends on if I want salty or sweet. So, churro or pretzel for me. Egg roll only if it's a cheese steak egg roll, because those are awesome.

2) Coaster, dark ride, or motion simulator?

Coaster all day.

3) Plush, ears, or t-shirt?

T-shirt all day.

4) Music show, art exhibit, or another merchandise shop?

Well, I like some music and don't like some. I like some art and don't like some. So it really depends on the particular exhibit/show.

5) Parade, fireworks, or nighttime show?

Fireworks, because stuff is blowing up.

I had no idea that the Incredibles Coaster was the longest inversion in the world. That'll be a fun fact to share with my fellow Disney lovers in the family.

The Coco displays were beautiful. I also didn't know the puppet held a meet and greet. That's a pretty unique opportunity.

Great photos with the butterfly wall!

1) Churro, pretzel, or eggroll? Pretzel

2) Coaster, dark ride, or motion simulator?
Dark Ride

3) Plush, ears, or t-shirt?
I haven't bought a souvenir for myself in forever, but for my kids I've bought way too many plushes...

4) Music show, art exhibit, or another merchandise shop?
Crystal Arts shop on Main Street.

5) Parade, fireworks, or nighttime show?
When it comes to Disney, fireworks.

Kari and I were headed towards the Pacific Wharf Area and found some silliness to entertain ourselves before our peeps showed up.

They have Kari fishing in DL? Wow! She's quite a catch, so fishermen must be lining up in droves.

I'm afraid I took a pitiful amount of photos in this area and Pixar Pier. :(
Is that EPIC TR fail or just picture fail?

Plus, special dinner, remember?
You mentioned it, but waiting to see what this special dinner is.

cuz that’s what’s done when you don’t know folks super well
It is? Hmmm, I must be failing then...not something I do.

they went off to find real food and I went off to find a real drink
You're at Disney. Really?

worse A BOX! (right @Jenny Sanders ?!)
Exactly. Boxes are one step above (or below...not sure) Boones farm.

takes a deep breath and talks herself off the Rant Ledge
Whew! That was close...you were right on the edge there.

I helped myself to a couple
To quote Jar Jar, how wude.

Because we got that awkward bit out of the way and now we were best friends.
Wow, that was fast.

We sat with our rations
You mean THEIR rations you were pilfering?

The stand-by time for the Incredi-Coaster was only 20 minutes so Steve and I hopped in line for that.
So, I'm guessing @Mali87 and @chunkymonkey didn't want to ride the coaster?

What can I say about the new coaster? Track is the same, no changes, but the new storyline is great! I love the voices and cameos throughout.
I've never been on it, so it would all be new to me.

thus allowing for the attraction to meet noise abatement codes of the cities of Anaheim and Garden Grove. Who knew?!
I sure didn't.

Kari was in a mood, but apparently in just the right place for that.
I'm confused...she was in the right place for a mood because of bing bong and her mood?

Just around the next corner, the swings were a walk-on so we collectively said, “Why not?”
My question would be Why?

I can't decide which photo I like better, so here's both:
If y'all rode the swings, who took the pictures?

I had done NO research about what might be going on during my trip and felt a bit behind in my knowledge, but Kari picked up the slack and clued me in.
The queen is slipping and had to have help from the princess?

We all definitely wanted the photo op with Miguel but had to wait until he buzzed over after his little song and dance show.
I've seen the movie once I think, but I thought his name was Coco.

Is it just me, or does this guy creep you out?
Nope. To me, he's dressed as would be appropriate to be one of the crowd.

I was totally okay with that, and it turned out to be a really fun Meet and Greet with the Little Guy. His puppeteer was incredibly personable and made the brief interaction fun and easy.
Very cool. I don't think I've seen any like this where it was a CM controlling a puppet vs. a CM inside a costume. Unique.

All the pictures were great, but really like this one of you. You look so happy and relaxed.

Su-Lynn was just (almost literally) arriving from Singapore and was totally wiped out and jet-lagging so they took off to nap and get ready for dinner.
Wow. I need to get their jobs or something...I think they travel a LOT.

They are really a toe-tapping group and make me want to dance more than any other group at Disney
Really?? Even more than Harambe market? I thought that was your happy place.

Sadly, laundry does not fold itself, not do I wake up with a magically cleaned toilet.
It doesn't?
Who knew?

1) Churro, pretzel, or eggroll?
No contest...pretzel. While I like eggrolls, usually want them with beef & broccoli or sweet & sour chicken or something else. Don't like churros. Too dry and powdery tasting to me.

2) Coaster, dark ride, or motion simulator?
Coaster...all day every day.

3) Plush, ears, or t-shirt?
Probably t-shirt. While I have a few pairs of ears, they tend to gather more dust than see use. Plush? I presume you mean stuffed animal...not really a stuffed animal type.

4) Music show, art exhibit, or another merchandise shop?
This is a tough one. Each has their own attraction depending on what I'm in the mood for. I'm not much of a shopper and art has to be something I'm interested in, so I guess music show is more often.

5) Parade, fireworks, or nighttime show?
Another tough one.
Boo to you parade, Wishes fireworks (or former MNSSHP fireworks) or fantasmic all rank in the top of what I like, so....
I guess, me like boom, so fireworks.

Funny story on MNSSHP...I have video too. There was a lady (girl) riding some type of motorized cycle. It broke down right in front of us. She kept trying to move, but it wasn't budging. They ended up having to call several people over to try to assist and eventually had a vehicle come over to tow it away. They finally got it into neutral and were able to push it instead, but it was sad for the girl...she kept her composure great, but you could tell she was a bit disappointed. The show, as they say, must go on...and it did.

My trips to DLR always seem very short. I know people say it's a one day park... I respectfully disagree.
Who the heck says that???? :confused3
It makes me sad that the majority of the younger gen doesn't know about a LOT of classics. The Apple Dumpling Gang, Herbie, Wonderful World of Disney... heck! The original Mickey Mouse Club, for crying out loud!
Wellll… I never saw the Mickey Mouse Club because that wasn't available up here. I do know of the Apple Dumpling Gang, but... I may have seen it, but don't remember. Too long ago, I guess?
Herbie... well, of course.
How about Escape to/from Witch Mountain?
Sure!! Sounds great!
:)

They’d arrived hungry, but this is Steve and Su-Lynn, so this surprised me not one iota. 🤣
Haha this surprises no one I assume.
After the appropriate hugs, greetings, and awkwardly complementing each other on our outfits (cuz that’s what’s done when you don’t know folks super well, but will once you get that out of the way),
Wait, I thought you liked my outfit! 🤣
Where was I? Right! Kari got a non-alcoholic version of something or rather and Steve and Su-Lynn opted for a Mexican-style meal and some chips and salsa of which I helped myself to a couple. Because we got that awkward bit out of the way and now we were best friends. See how that works?
We have been BFFs since the Chunkydump, duh!!
I think Su-Lynn and Kari might have gotten a churro at this point too… maybe?
YES. Churros forever! (But only in DLR)
We didn't go on it, but did however find this to be a more than perfect opportunity to take a good old-fashioned ChunkyDump. It’s what all the cool kids do! Kari was in a mood, but apparently in just the right place for that. The whole attraction was moody- just ask Bing-Bong. (Not really, she's just too refined for ChunkyDumping.)
The Chunkydump sweeping the west coast!
We then parted ways until that evening. Su-Lynn was just (almost literally) arriving from Singapore and was totally wiped out and jet-lagging so they took off to nap and get ready for dinner.
Yup that's me, the jetlagged one!
1) Churro, pretzel, or eggroll?
Hmm if in DLR then churro, if in WDW then pretzel.
2) Coaster, dark ride, or motion simulator?
dark ride
3) Plush, ears, or t-shirt?
t-shirt
4) Music show, art exhibit, or another merchandise shop?
depends on who is playing! But I always love a good browse through a shop.
5) Parade, fireworks, or nighttime show?
doesn't nighttime shows include fireworks (mostly, aside from AK)? If available I'd watch Paint the Night parade in a heartbeat otherwise I'd choose fireworks!

but little did she know the plane would be half empty so I had a little karma party as I settled into my entire row for a 2-hour nap LAYING DOWN while we flew to Santa Ana.
Who needs first class when you have a whole row???
SCORE! She says folks leave them in her car all the time and she just gives them away. Yes, I tipped her well. Ironically, it was Kari who ended up using them for most of the trip because A) I need prescription sunnies (I forgot mine in my glovebox) and B) she had “lost” hers at Alison’s. (They ended up being found on Alison’s driveway the next day.)
:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:
We landed about 8:30 and were IN SW:GE and OFF MF:SR by 10:00!!!
Wow! That really is impressive!
Disney did a whiz-bang job on theming and Imagineering of details, but after spending 3 or 4 visits there now (including the Florida portions of my trip) I’m in no hurry to go back. The ride is fun, but nowhere near worth more than a 45ish-minute wait. The Play App stuff IS fun, building a droid IS fun (I’ll go into detail on this in a much later update) and photographing is nice, but after you’ve done it a few times, it is simply a gigantic money-grabbing blackhole. Oga’s is astronomically expensive, the merchandise likewise. It really feels like a giant, over-priced gift shop with cool theming.
This is what I'm afraid of. I love Star Wars, but I kind of found the whole Launch Bay thing to be in that same vein (an over-priced gift shop). I look forward to exploring Batuu, but it really does seem like there's just not much if you aren't willing to shell out some big bucks. While I'm not a Harry Potter fan, I think Universal did a better job of making that property more inclusive. Yes they're constantly selling you something, but you don't have to pay $200 for a lightsaber or a droid to really get everything out of the land and they do have some affordable items there.
Oga’s has a few precious table spots, but Imbiber beware! You WILL be seated with other travelers which could make for an awkward situation if you accidentally reach for your lightsaber at the wrong time... or, if you have a hard time blending into conversation with complete strangers. If so, ask to stand. I love meeting new people and love the tables, but know they are definitely not for everyone
Yeah... doesn't really sound appealing to me, honestly. And I wanted a Star Wars cantina.
Kari and I were escorted to the VERY far end of the bar, and as I took my place, I was scolded by the bar tender that I had to stay to the right of a black strip of rubber towards the end. That was space for the servers, not weary travelers. Which made me ask the question to my fellow traveler, “Why would they bring us in if there wasn’t enough room for us to stand here without having to smell each other’s breath?”
:headache: I need a drink!
I DO have a problem paying $15-$18 for something advertised as A COCKTAIL which typically (and should) have a standard pour of at least one SHOT of each alcohol they advertise. In a lot of ways, I feel that it is false advertising.
No, I said I need a drink! The kind with alcohol!
Anyway, I chose the Yub Nub with the souvenir cup for $35. Mind you, Dear Reader, the price has now increased to $45; not a bad return on my money and yes, I may sell it at some point. (They are going for about $80 right now on EBay.)
Well, sell the glass and then you can almost afford to buy 2 watered down drinks next time!!!
The Cliff Dweller is $32 so not much difference there in price alcohol vs. non… so there’s that.
Well then, see? No reason for that rant about being stingy on the alcohol. They'll charge you the same and be completely honest that you're paying $32 for ice, water and some flavoring.
Sorry, if the cynicism is dripping with this update. While I did enjoy the music and watching Rex spin the tunes, I found it to be very spendy, crowded, and with the slowest service in the galaxy. Yes, the bar is amazingly detailed and super fun to see. Yes, if you get a table and like to hang with new folks, it’s fun. Yes, it was fun to take my kids to, but…. once. I’d just rather spend my money on a souvenir pin next time unless another mug comes out that I just love.
Honestly, I get it. This is kind of what I was afraid some of this land might be (and you're certainly not the first to share some of these feelings.)
Would I go back to Disneyland to visit SW:GE again? No. Would I go back to California to ride HM at Halloweentime again? 100% yes.
Well, HM does look great with the overlay! I'm glad you got to check it out!
For the remainder of our short day in Disneyland, we focused on attractions that are unique to California or simply better in California… namely Pirates of the Caribbean, Snow White, Mr. Toad and It’s a Small World.
::yes:: Good call!
Lastly, we headed to the veeeeeeeeery back of the park for a spin on the Happiest Cruise that Ever Sailed. If you don’t believe me, take a peek!
I really do like the DL version. Everything about it is just better. I like the queue outside, the train going across the backdrop. It's special.
During the short hour or so we waited for Alison and Fran to pick us up, I will neither confirm nor deny a legit nap was taken. How could you not in an area such as this:
You don't need to confirm. It's pretty obvious what happened.
And now, it’s YOUR turn! What ride or show or attraction holds the most nostalgic significance for you and why?
I had a few that I could easily make a case for. Even a couple that no longer exist. But I'm going to say BTMRR. I love rollercoasters and this was the first one I ever rode. It is ALWAYS a priority to get multiple rides on BTMRR anytime we go to Disney World.
Just a gushing Grammie reminder: My lovely daughter is due on Dec. 3rd and we had a nice baby shower for her last weekend. I'm so excited I could burst!
Already planning that first trip, Grammie?
Instead of where normal Lyft drivers drop off on Harbor Blvd., ours was completely clueless and we ended up in the parking structure with 14 billion other tourons. After a nightmarish security stint, which made EPCOT look like a walk in the park (pun intended), and wherein my personal pull-tab alarm was confiscated ( major 🤷‍♀️ ) and the entirety of Kari’s wallet exploded all over the ground, we were whisked away by tram to the Entrance Mall.
:headache: Rough start
Finally, in no time at all, we made it back to Carsland where all things DCA Halloween are.
Wow! I had no idea they did all that in Carsland! I love the distributor cap/spark plug wire spiders. :rotfl:
Okay, your turn:

Add to this story:

He had just....
tried to come up with something creative and funny but failed miserably.
I went off to find a real drink. Except you can’t because it’s Disney and they all (unless you’re at a legit lounge) come out of a Slurpee machine, a can, or worse A BOX!
But if they're out of a machine, can or box, they can't skimp on the alcohol!!!!!!!
ust around the next corner, the swings were a walk-on so we collectively said, “Why not?” The appropriate answer should have been, “Because we will all feel like puking afterwards.”,
:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:
Now, it’s YOUR turn! You can only choose one from each but commentary is encouraged. :)

1) Churro, pretzel, or eggroll?

2) Coaster, dark ride, or motion simulator?

3) Plush, ears, or t-shirt?

4) Music show, art exhibit, or another merchandise shop?

5) Parade, fireworks, or nighttime show?
1 - Churro - I like sweeter snacks. Pretzel would be second.
2 - Coaster - This one is tougher. I love a good dark ride, but coasters are just my thing.
3 - T-Shirt
4 - Music show
5 - Fireworks

Nah, but I about died when I saw the Hatbox Ghost mug released the other day. I almost texted you to see if you were going. I may look for one on Ebay.

We can probably help you out, so don't pay eBay prices. That's a story to itself but remains for the TR!

You're never too refined for Chunkydumping!

Instead of heading over to catch that, we chose to be the first in line for when he showed up. I was totally okay with that, and it turned out to be a really fun Meet and Greet with the Little Guy. His puppeteer was incredibly personable and made the brief interaction fun and easy.

OLE’!!

This is so cute! All your Coco pictures were beautiful and so colorful!

Gorgeous! And I love your shirt

That's reserved for airlines, ya know.

Unless you have a red eye, which is almost.... worse.

:lmao: Of course you were! If they can't find a lobby at a hotel, how can they find an entrance at a theme park!?

LOL!!!

And.... nice one!

Thanks!

Um.... why????

I honestly have NO idea. They are loud and I suppose if it get accidentally activated it might scare guests and start a panic or something?

Uh, oh...

I feel so badly!

For Kari.

Nah, I kept Grouchy under control. :)

Wow! What kind of bun/pastry was that?

Bacon, Egg, and Gouda on a Brioche from Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Cafe on Buena Vista

Meh. Just make one, yourself. How hard could it be?

:rolleyes1

I've done a fair amount of stained glass but this is pretty large to fit in my apartment. ;)

Was that a real dog, or just a prop??

I'm pretty sure it was real dog?

::yes::
I'll never forget when @franandaj took us in the "back way" to see it.

RIGHT?! I think my jaw was practically on the ground.

Nah. Why wait? :)

I suppose I could take a few weeks off in the next few years and toddle around the desert. The thought of that makes me extraordinarily happy.

I guess I'm inspired by the cacti, we have nothing like that up here, of course.
And I'm sure it's one of those classic Burma Shave signs, so...

He had just missed the turn,
When he felt a little burn.
The turn had rather wrecked him,
With a cactus up his rectum.

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:Best one yet!

Hoping for 2021?

<sigh> So far away...

Heh,

It's a Disney trip. I'd say it's right about time to start saving. :rolleyes2

You caught a mermaid!

She takes the BEST photos!
Uh, oh... in all my DISmeets, I don't think I've ever (or at least... not often) complimented someone on an outfit.
Then again... I'm a guy and maybe that'd be weird.
"Hey, Bob. Those are some mighty smart pants you're wearing there."

LOL!! Maybe it's a girl thing?

That was quick!
Steve and Sy-Lynn are awesome! Just really great to hang out with.

Really! This is all good to hear! (and smell, perhaps)

I found it pretty fascinating, myself.

Huh! And yet... I wonder what was there first... the park or the homes...

That always makes me shake my head.
An airport gets built in the middle of nowhere. Urban sprawl brings homes around it. People complain that the airport is too loud. :sad2:

Hmm, I think they probably were developed in tandem and at the park's inception it was mostly farmland. But, I think it's worthy to note that even when the homes were being built in the 60s and 70s, the park had nowhere near the noise level it does now. The music was softer, screams weren't really a thing as it was mostly dark rides and other indoor attractions, etc...

 I remember she posed that way before. ::yes::

Yep, she'a s hoot!

ecause... you can ride that at any fair?
Hmmm... were you thinking maybe the view would be good?

Maybe? I dunno, I think we all just thought, I've not done swings in years... let's do it! I know I have never ridden them at the fair- our fair has plenty of other stuff to keep one busy and entertained without going on overpriced, run-down rides run by sketchy operators.

Oh, no! You had an elimination on the swings?!?!? Those poor people below you!!!!

#punctuationmatters

I much prefer the first one, but... Hope you don't mind, I took the liberty... Those overhanging bits bugged me.

446161

Ohhh, I love this!! They bugged me too, but I couldn't crop them out without people losing their legs. Thank you so much!!!

Wow! Now that is such a great photo!!! :worship:

I was rather proud of that one myself. Lucky shot!!

That's cool! (And another great photo... you really outdid yourself on these last two updates!)

Thanks, PK. Coming from you that means a lot!

1. That puppet is pretty cool. Never seen a M&G like that.
2. Love the super cute pose! :goodvibes

It was very unique and a fun Meet. I'm not a big character meet person, but have done a few more on my past trips than usual. This was by far the most "out there".

Isn't it the names of people (family and/or friends) who've passed away?

I'm pretty sure you're right, but I took a few seconds to try and read some, but they were 99% written in Spanish. And it was a lot more than names from what I could make out. Maybe tributes or memories in addition?

I'm in love with this photo of you! Might be my fave of you. :)

Aww, thanks! I like it too and made it my profile pic on FB for a bit.

1. Depends... if the pretzel is just out of the oven and soft (with salt!!!! has to have salt!), then the pretzel. Otherwise... eggroll. Churro a very, very distant third.
2. That's a tough one, but... considering two of my fave rides are dark rides, I'll say that. (HM & PP)
3. T-shirt, I guess. I'll buy some from Harley shops... but don't buy any of the three at Disney.
4. Since all the merch shops are the same now... that's out. Probably art exhibit... but depends on the art. Photos? Yes! Glass? Yes! Modern art painting? Probably not.
5. With the exception of MNSSHParade... Fireworks.

1). The last several pretzels I've had at Disney were anything but what you've described. They were stale, tasteless and not worth the price. The best one I had at Disney was in AK one morning- the extinct cream cheese jalepeno pretzel. RIP. I sad. Eggrolls from the eggroll cart is on my BFB (Big Fat Bucket List); I need to make that happen. I actually super enjoy churros from DLR, but ONLY at DLR.

2) Good choice. I think that'd be mine too.

3) I'm not, as you know, a shopper either. When I do get a souvie, it's almost always a pin, although, I've made exceptions after imbibing a little too much on sweatshirts.

4) Yes, I'd agree. It does depend on the exhibit or the type of music. But, I'd also add that it depends on the setting. I don't normally listen to jazz, but adore it when I'm in New Orleans Square. And I generally detest opera, but recently actually made it a point to stop and watch/ listen to live opera- more on that in my TR at a much later date. :)

5) I'd probably say the same, but with the exception for MSEP or Paint the Night. :)

1) Churro, pretzel, or eggroll ? - pretzel but I am deprived and have only had WDW churros not DL and my understanding is DL are far superior

I can attest to that. Yes! They ARE! Softer, fresher and WAY more seasonal special ones.

2) Coaster, dark ride, or motion simulator? Coaster for sure. I love thrill rides.

Do you have a favorite one? Doesn't have to be Disney..

3) Plush, ears, or t-shirt? T-shirt. I have never gotten into the ears though I admire them on others .

Some of the ears lately are so creative! I love seeing the variety of them too, and love that they send a message as to favorite attractions or movie or such...

4) Music show, art exhibit, or another merchandise shop? Hmmmm none of the above ? If I had to pick - art exhibit

I love Disney Art stores! And I came across a nice art exhibit that I'll write about in the very next update. ;)

5) Parade, fireworks, or nighttime show? Fireworks. Not a huge parade fan.

Me neither! They are a massive nuisance to me except the night ones, so yeah, probably fireworks.

So well done!

I agree!! Just perfect!

I love the theming!

Super fun and so much to look at!

Even at a legit lounge, you don't always get a real drink. You do, however, pay a real price.....

How true that is!!

The pics are great but this is definitely too spinny for me.

I should have known better! It was fun for the first couple of revolutions and then I was done.

1. Pretzel
2. Dark ride
3. Ears
4. Music show
5. Fireworks!!!!!

Nice lineup there, Girl!!

Ay caramba. Come on, people!

It just can't be that tough to find a fairly common drop off point. You know, the one that's probably used more than any other in the entire state.

Wow, this all looks great! I agree-very clever.

So many fun things to see. I like the creative use of construction cones and the spiders!

Oh, come on. Disney would never do something like that.

LOLOLOL!! Never.

Yeah...I sure do know that feeling.

By the time we CAN enjoy that sort of thing, we'll be too old and decrepit to.

He had just finished the last bite of the enchilada, with extra beans. It would have been fine, but as he stepped outside, he noticed the vendor selling chili dogs...

And thus began the Legend of the Chunkydump.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: You guys are so funny!!

Well, it's a t-shirt, cargo shorts and a ball cap, but thanks!

OH, you're welcome! We can be friends now.

Cool! I missed out on that ride in my one visit. Definitely need to go back and try it.

Yes, you do!!! Maybe you can swing West soon...

So...yay?

Well, that's what the folks below said.

Definitely one of the top 5 things about DLR.

Unless you're going from the park entrances to Trader Sam's. With bags.

Depends on if I want salty or sweet. So, churro or pretzel for me. Egg roll only if it's a cheese steak egg roll, because those are awesome.

I think the ones at the cart are on a rotational menu thing. When I finally get one, I hope it's a good one!

Coaster all day.

I thought you'd say that.

T-shirt all day.

I think in general the guys on this thread agreed.

Well, I like some music and don't like some. I like some art and don't like some. So it really depends on the particular exhibit/show.

Agreed!

Fireworks, because stuff is blowing up.

I had a hunch you'd say that.

I had no idea that the Incredibles Coaster was the longest inversion in the world. That'll be a fun fact to share with my fellow Disney lovers in the family.

I was pretty surprised too and love learning little factoids like that. :)

The Coco displays were beautiful. I also didn't know the puppet held a meet and greet. That's a pretty unique opportunity.
It was such a colorful, lovely area and exhibit! Miguel was so well done and cute!

Great photos with the butterfly wall!

Thanks! We all had a fun time trading off each other's phones and cameras and taking each others' photos. :)

I wish the pretzels were still available with jalepeno cream cheese!

Yep!! Dark rides for the win!

I know of your plushie escapades! :) I remember a certain baby simba? that had to be found!

OH, I like that shop too!! I almost always pop into that one.

This seems to be the winner in the poll.

They have Kari fishing in DL? Wow! She's quite a catch, so fishermen must be lining up in droves.

An accidental catch of a mermaid. :)

Is that EPIC TR fail or just picture fail?

Hmm, this was EPIC SoCal version.... so maybe an EPIC picture fail.

You mentioned it, but waiting to see what this special dinner is.

Hopefully, next update. :) I'll be writing it recovering from a Propofol nap, so is should be rather entertaining.

It is? Hmmm, I must be failing then...not something I do.

Probably more of a girl thing?

You're at Disney. Really?

LOLOLOL!

Exactly. Boxes are one step above (or below...not sure) Boones farm.

I've not heard of that, so I don't know!

To quote Jar Jar, how wude.

I love Jar Jar!

You mean THEIR rations you were pilfering?

Well, yeah, if you wanna be all technical about it.
So, I'm guessing @Mali87 and @chunkymonkey didn't want to ride the coaster?

No, they didn't. And that's ok. Steve and I weren't gone all that long and they got a churro to make the wait a bit more sweet.

I'm confused...she was in the right place for a mood because of bing bong and her mood?

The whole attraction and little area is themed off the movie Inside Out- a Disney movie that explores emotions and delves a fair bit into psychology and human memory. This is an excellent article on the psyhology of it, but my comment was more about Kari's portrayed mood in the photo. :)

Bing bong was the character who represents an old childhood imaginary friend and helps to "save the day".

My question would be Why?

Just to say we had. I do try to ride or do every experience at the Disney parks so I can know what people are talking about when they come up. I've never seen a BAD attraction at Disney (except Stitch), and while there are a few I don't care for, or aren't my taste, at least I can say I've done it.

If y'all rode the swings, who took the pictures?

We had to wait the 3 minutes for one cycle and were at the front of the line for the next one. I took those while waiting that one spin.

The queen is slipping and had to have help from the princess?

Sure, let's go with that.

I've seen the movie once I think, but I thought his name was Coco.

No, that was the grandmother Miguel lived with. :)

Nope. To me, he's dressed as would be appropriate to be one of the crowd.

It was his facial expression that was kinda creepy to me. I don't know... the smirk? The eyes?

All the pictures were great, but really like this one of you. You look so happy and relaxed.

Thanks!

Wow. I need to get their jobs or something...I think they travel a LOT.

They do! More than any folks I know!

Really?? Even more than Harambe market? I thought that was your happy place.

Well, that's at AK, I meant in California. I also love the Boot Strappers. In fact, it's Saturday morning! I think I'll put on their sets on YouTube right now! :)

No contest...pretzel. While I like eggrolls, usually want them with beef & broccoli or sweet & sour chicken or something else. Don't like churros. Too dry and powdery tasting to me.

I think you'd change your mind with the DLR churros though. They are very fresh and full of flavor. Sometimes they even come with a dipping sauce of some sort- choco or caramel or such.

This is a tough one. Each has their own attraction depending on what I'm in the mood for. I'm not much of a shopper and art has to be something I'm interested in, so I guess music show is more often.

I admit it was a very tough question! Totally depends on my mood too. Or what I'm passing or doing at the time. I guess I tend to live in the moment and enjoy the place I'm at, but given a choice, and all 3 were in front of me, I'd choose the music probably.

OH my! That is funny! I'd have felt so badly for her. It's hard to keep one's composure under those types of circumstances.

Who the heck says that???? :confused3

Oh, I've heard loads of people say that. "Nah, you just need a one-day ticket for each park.".

Say what, Willis??!

Escape was possbibly my favorite movie as a young kid! I remember watching it on a family vacation to Catalina Island. :)
