The "adult" variety act performances

OK, a weird question considering I've been on 6 Disney cruises... In planning our upcoming trip, I realize how many things on board we've just never done, but with our kids older now and the entertainment options reduced a bit, we might be looking at some different activities. In the past (and, I think still) there were often variety acts that would have "adult" performances, usually in addition to family performances. Often these were the same performers who had one of the "main" evening performances. I'm curious as to what this really means, especially since the definition of "adult" can vary tremendously.

Is this still basically the same "clean" nearly G-rated performances they'd do elsewhere, just with an adult-only audience? Or, are they more like PG or PG-13 or R level performances? I imagine it varies by performer, but I'd like to have a sense of what I'd be getting into for some of them.

As another question, are their performances in the smaller venues usually a lot of overlap in material with what they do on the main stage (i.e. for people who might have missed it, or just want to see the same thing again), or do they tend to have different acts there?

I would say the adult performances range from PG13 to maybe AA14 they use mostly different material as they know they have a captive audience and many ppl will have seen both the family show and the “adult” show

I've only been to a couple and they are very tame IMO. The only bad word or reference I recall is the word "balls" - and it was a double entendre to the athletic kind haha. Also it was just more about topics that interest adults and that they can relate to - like parenting and marriage. Things the kids would find boring or miss entirely. You could call it more mature and tailored to adults. DH and I really enjoyed it.

The comedian on our cruise got fired and escorted off the ship after his adult show. I did not attend the show, but rumor was he made some racy Disney jokes.
I don't know why but this made me LOL! Oh dear!

We always see both shows. Probably our favorite entertainment besides live music and funnel vision!

With some of the musical acts, they'll sing older songs that kids probably wouldn't know. And/or tell more stories between songs (that are interesting, but small kids may not sit through).

I agree PG 13, however sometimes the answers at Match Your Mate, the adult nighttime game show, can get a little interesting. :rotfl2:

During one sailing we were on, when asked what family member he would "kick off the island" the husband answered "My sister-in-law", but he wouldn't explain why. The host kept pushing and the husband replied "because I caught her cooking meth in our kitchen." 😲 The host quickly moved on. 🤣
