The anti-dining trip report that could have been a disaster but ended up being Yacht-some!! April 2021 at The Yacht Club! Complete 11/5!

My mom and Ava finally arrived while Allie and I were on TSM.
Ava wanted to go on AS2, so we headed over there to meet them.
What an adventure your Mom and Ava had! Glad they got there safely!
Our adventure on Runamuck railroad had us all hungry
and excited to sit in the dark watching old movies...
I love Sci Fi!
And now, one of my favorite meals of the whole trip.
I don't know if I was just getting my appetite back so everything tasted good,
but I don't think so because we all loved our lunch here,
though the pictures in the dark leave a lot to be desired.
It is one of our family favourites too.
Ava posed her Minnie and Mickey nuimos so cute on the dashboard...
Adorable!
After lunch we headed back to Ava's favorite place in ALL of Walt Disney World…the pool!
I don't think we were there long when there was thunder in the area
so Allie and I went back to the room and my mom and Ava waited it out by the pool.
This was a zoom of them from our room
Oh my gosh, the pools close so frequently. Sometimes I think they are a little too cautious!
It wasn't even 11 yet…official park opening…and we were Soarin' round the world...
Sweet!
We got off and immediately went to learn how to live with the land...
Love this!
We had gotten all that done by noon and were feeling hungry,
so we headed to the WS for some more Flower and Garden booths.
Yum!
Allie was is always in the mood for something chocolate,
Same!
As we were making our way around the WS near Mexico, Allie goes, "is that Molly?"
I was like, OMG! I know it's super geeky of me, but I was so excited to see her!

I yelled, "hi!" and she was sweet enough to not only NOT run away,
but she let me take a pic with her!
I would totally be fan girling. I love Molly!
and finished up the Spike the Bee challenge, which was super fun.
Those challenges are a great way to see little nooks and crannies in World Showcase.
It's hard to believe considering how awful my stomach was when this trip started,
but this may have been the best burger I had ever eaten!! ::yes::😋

This came from the Ale & Compass restaurant as a mobile order
and I was hesitant about getting it, but also very sure that's what I wanted.
It did not disappoint and I ate the whole thing!
Yum! Glad you were feeling better. You went through quite an ordeal!
We were heading home, but not until the following day!
We had booked a room at The Hyatt for our last night
so we could have a "relaxing' morning,
but it turned out to be anything but relaxing!
Uh oh!

APRIL 16, 2021
THE MOST STRESSFUL MORNING EVER

Our DME arrived around 7:30.
It makes me sad to think we won't be seeing these around anymore :sad2:
619925

Our bus wasn't packed and we were soon on our way.
Always the saddest ride of all :sad1:
619926

Usually I remember to take pictures of the room,
but I only have one picture from our room at the Hyatt, taken around 9:30 pm.
We had all showered and gotten ready for bed by then.
619930

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable
and I highly recommend staying here for a night before or after a trip,
depending on when your flights are.

Our plane was scheduled to take off at 10:10am,
so we went down with what thought was PLENTY of time,
only to find 10 million people down there.
Seriously, I don't think I've ever seen such a huge crowd,
which makes sense now considering it was Spring Break.

We first had to check our bags and that whole process was a complete free-for-all
over at the Southwest kiosks.
There were no discernible lines anywhere
and people were pushing and shoving to get to a kiosk and then to the baggage counter. Thank goodness I had Allie with me this time to help because this was crazy stressful.
I never do this, but I actually wrote to SW to complain about this process.
I can't recall now if they ever responded :confused3

We felt momentary relief once our bags were dealt with,
but then we got to the terminal and there were the craziest lines there too!

To make matters worse, Allie had to have a covid test before she returned to school,
so we had scheduled one right at MCO,
but the place wasn't easy to find and the crowd there was insanely long too,
even though she had an appointment.
Also, she had to wait there for the results…they wouldn't email them to her.
In the meantime, I had left my mom and Ava sitting somewhere near the crazy long TSA line waiting for us. I would have liked to tell them to go ahead,
but I knew my mom would get confused so I told Allie
that I was going to get them through security and for her to meet us at the gate.

The remaining three of us finally made it to the
fake-o-rail...
619937

619938

Poor Allie was waiting and waiting,
and maybe 10 minutes before we were boarding,
she came running up :scared:
619946

I had gotten her a bagel and she didn't even have enough time to eat before we boarded, but she did get to enjoy it once on board the plane.
619950

After our crazy morning, we could finally relax and enjoy our uneventful flight.
619951

Less than three hours later,
we were home in CT with memories of one of my favorite trips ever.

Despite the way it started, I'm so glad we went on this trip,
especially since what we didn't know at the time,
but my mom and Ava wouldn't end up coming on the August trip
four months later like we had planned.
But that'll be a story for my next trip report!

In the span of one WDW vacation,
I went from feeling downright awful, to feeling almost back to normal.
I also went from thinking I wouldn't like the Yacht Club
to loving it so much that I was worried I wouldn't like the Beach Club as much in August (spoiler alert…I shouldn't have worried…we love the BC too).
I also think I prefer the Flower and Garden fest to the Food and Wine.
There's nothing like EPCOT in the Spring :flower1:

Thank you all for sticking around and reading,
and for all of your lovely comments!
It definitely makes writing these more fun!

I'll post a link here when I start my August report!

Our DME arrived around 7:30.
It makes me sad to think we won't be seeing these around anymore :sad2:
:(
Yeah... while leaving on them is always a bummer, there is something... well... magical about taking them when you first arrive.
Always the saddest ride of all :sad1:
<sigh>... yeah.
The room was clean and the beds were comfortable
and I highly recommend staying here for a night before or after a trip,
Thanks for the tip. :)

 Holy cow. No thanks!
I never do this, but I actually wrote to SW to complain about this process.
I can't recall now if they ever responded :confused3
Thinking they probably didn't. Looks like they have bigger problems right now.
Also, she had to wait there for the results…they wouldn't email them to her.
Really? That's odd. I wonder why not?
Poor Allie was waiting and waiting,
and maybe 10 minutes before we were boarding,
she came running up :scared:
Phew! Close call! Bet you (both) were super worried!
I had gotten her a bagel and she didn't even have enough time to eat before we boarded, but she did get to enjoy it once on board the plane.
I actually like eating on the plane. Helps the time go by.

I hate airport stress!!! We always get there way too early, but it helps my crazy stress levels.

Last year when we went to WDW right when the parks reopened, we had the same experience at MCO trying to check out luggage at Southwest. It's seriously madness up there!!! I couldn't believe how crazy it was, and kept thinking this isn't even half of the normal number of people traveling; I'd hate to do this with a regular crowd!

We had enough time to get a snack and drink at Trolley Starbucks...
I had the carrot cake cookie for the first time in ages in August!
And now, one of my favorite meals of the whole trip.
I don't know if I was just getting my appetite back so everything tasted good,
but I don't think so because we all loved our lunch here,
Yeah we don't love it there? Food is fine but just nothing special, I do really like the movies though.
After lunch we headed back to Ava's favorite place in ALL of Walt Disney World…the pool!
Our kids were like that when they were little! And I never allowed pool time there :rotfl2:We have a pool at home there's too much to do in Disney!
Allie goes, "is that Molly?"
Ok. I'm glad you were excited lol. I don't get into the blogger thing; I've watched 2 of hers and find her annoying!
and she was not happy when we made her...
619579
OMG I love this shot  It really shows what she was feeling lol!!!

Oh my gosh, the pools close so frequently. Sometimes I think they are a little too cautious!

They do close more than I'd like! I know they are just being overly cautious but if there's the slightest bit of weather in the area they close and won't reopen for like an hour after that!

I would totally be fan girling. I love Molly!

She seems super sweet! She's the one vlogger I watch regularly!

Those challenges are a great way to see little nooks and crannies in World Showcase.

I'm so excited, I just saw there's going to be an Olaf challenge in December :goodvibes

Thinking they probably didn't. Looks like they have bigger problems right now.

This is true. And leaves me still trying to decide if I should bother flying down in December or just drive with Mike. Both options have good and bad points, but I literally hate the drive home so I don't know…I'll probably just take my chances! At the very least, I'll send my checked bag down and back in the car with Mike like I did in August, so I won't have to deal with the kiosk cluster :P

Really? That's odd. I wonder why not?

Who knows, but I hope we never have to worry about that again!

I actually like eating on the plane. Helps the time go by.

Except now it's hard because you have to pull your mask down, take a bite, put your mask up, etc...

Thanks for writing another fun report!

Thanks for reading!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has experienced the SW kiosk stress…it's crazy! And you travel Christmas week, right? I'm sure that's got to be awful!

Our kids were like that when they were little! And I never allowed pool time there :rotfl2:We have a pool at home there's too much to do in Disney!

We have a pool at home too but I love my Disney pool time! We hit it every day in August and most days in October too! I doubt we'll be spending much time there in December though 🥶

I've watched 2 of hers and find her annoying!

Wow, really? I think she's fun!

OMG I love this shot  It really shows what she was feeling lol!!!

:rotfl: She wasn't happy!

This is true. And leaves me still trying to decide if I should bother flying down in December or just drive with Mike.
Only 18 hours (or so). Not bad.
I literally hate the drive home
<sigh>
Yeah... I get that. It's all excitement driving down... not so much going the other way.
At the very least, I'll send my checked bag down and back in the car with Mike like I did in August, so I won't have to deal with the kiosk cluster :P

I yelled, "hi!" and she was sweet enough to not only NOT run away,
but she let me take a pic with her!
619251

Thank you, Allie for being so observant!
Amazing!!! Gwen and I have been watch her videos. And I can even tell which video she was working on that day! Ha! Gwen would freak out if we see her.

Ava and Gram ate later because Ava was refusing to get out of the pool,
and she was not happy when we made her...
So mean!!! making her eat food! How dare you!

We had booked a room at The Hyatt for our last night
so we could have a "relaxing' morning,
but it turned out to be anything but relaxing!
Oh No!!!!

We finally bribed her with ice cream to get her out...

Best way to finish a trip!

ing and shoving to get to a kiosk and then to the baggage counter. Thank goodness I had Allie with me this time to help because this was crazy stressful.

I can't recall now if they ever responded :confused3
I mean there is no reason for it to be a free for all! That is my biggest pet pev. I mean there are busy times, sure but they can have people contolling the crazy.

We felt momentary relief once our bags were dealt with,
but then we got to the terminal and there were the craziest lines there too!
I always feel slightly less stressed once we have our bags checked and then more once we are through security. But a few years back, Andy and I had a terrible time getting through security... with no order and we were practically being hurdded like cows. It was awful! So, we decided to get precheck. And it was the best decision!

Poor Allie was waiting and waiting,
and maybe 10 minutes before we were boarding,
she came running up :scared:
OMG!!! That was stressful!!!!!

I also went from thinking I wouldn't like the Yacht Club
to loving it so much that I was worried I wouldn't like the Beach Club as much in August (spoiler alert…I shouldn't have worried…we love the BC too).
I think of them both as the same. We haven't stayed at Beach Club but I am sure if we did, we would like it as well.

<sigh>
Yeah... I get that. It's all excitement driving down... not so much going the other way.

That's definitely part of it. But also, coming from CT, the WORST part of the drive…traffic, cities, etc…is from here getting through NY, NJ, and then again getting around DC. The rest of the drive to FL is a pretty straight shot down 95..long and boring, but not stressful for the most part.

Conversely, on the way home, the easy part comes at the beginning and the worst part…the same areas…come at the end when you're just stressed and sick of driving :crazy2: Stopping overnight in NC or VA helps a bit but we've also just pushed and driven straight through, which I don't recommend!

Amazing!!! Gwen and I have been watch her videos. And I can even tell which video she was working on that day! Ha! Gwen would freak out if we see her.

Keep your eyes out since she's there a LOT! Mike spotted her again in October and my friends saw her in August

So mean!!! making her eat food! How dare you!

Exactly! :rotfl:

So, we decided to get precheck. And it was the best decision!
Pre check is the best thing ever!

I love my pre-check, but the others don't have it so I couldn't ditch them! In the past, when I've booked our tickets all together, the kids and my mom have gotten pre-check because I have it. This time, I think we booked our tickets with travel credits from the prior year so they were all booked separately and of course, they didn't get it :sad2:

I enjoyed following along your trip. I love Flower and Garden and Artfest more than Food and Wine to be honest.
Your morning sure was stressful. Glad it all worked out in the end.

That's definitely part of it. But also, coming from CT, the WORST part of the drive…traffic, cities, etc…is from here getting through NY, NJ, and then again getting around DC. The rest of the drive to FL is a pretty straight shot down 95..long and boring, but not stressful for the most part.

ohhhhh... okay, I get it now.
I have driven around DC (once!) so I understand (at least that part) what you're talking about.

and say good-bye to dame Judy.
I hope they don't change this anytime soon. Spaceship earth is perfect caught in its 1990's bubble

I yelled, "hi!" and she was sweet enough to not only NOT run away,
but she let me take a pic with her!
619251
Ariella was just talking about her. I'll have to check her out. Sounds like the scavanger hunts are something Casey would like

Finally. So glad you got to enjoy some real food that wasn't turkey or vegetables. Hamburgers are my official hang over food so this was like your version of that :rotfl2:

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable
and I highly recommend staying here for a night before or after a trip,
depending on when your flights are.
We did this once and it was a great way to go. We arrived late and spent the night before our trip began. Never thought to do it the night before you leave. Great idea.

Our plane was scheduled to take off at 10:10am,
so we went down with what thought was PLENTY of time,
only to find 10 million people down there.
Yikes!!!! We find the Orlando airport is always a zoo no matter what time of year. Especially that TSA line

Despite the way it started, I'm so glad we went on this trip,
especially since what we didn't know at the time,
but my mom and Ava wouldn't end up coming on the August trip
So glad you all were able to have such a good girls trip despite all of the forces seemingly working against you. Even more special that it was Ava's first trip

Ok. I'm glad you were excited lol. I don't get into the blogger thing; I've watched 2 of hers and find her annoying!
:rotfl: And this is exactly why I love you so

I love my pre-check, but the others don't have it so I couldn't ditch them! In the past, when I've booked our tickets all together, the kids and my mom have gotten pre-check because I have it. This time, I think we booked our tickets with travel credits from the prior year so they were all booked separately and of course, they didn't get it :sad2:
They have definitely changed their policies lately. I get a known traveler number through work and Jason and Casey always got pre-check with me. But on our last 2 trips only Casey gets it with me so think other adults don't qualify any more. I made Jason sign up so he isn't slowing me down.

Sounds like a rather stressful return trip right up to the point you actually got on your way. Yuck!! I try to so hard to get to airports at least 2 hours ahead of my flights, but even then sometimes even that is a bit stressful. I'm sooooo glad Allie made it on time!!

Lovely report once again!!

:rotfl: And this is exactly why I love you so
620706

hey have definitely changed their policies lately. I get a known traveler number through work and Jason and Casey always got pre-check with me. But on our last 2 trips only Casey gets it with me so think other adults don't qualify any more. I made Jason sign up so he isn't slowing me down.
Yes they did. We all have pre-check not but when it was jut Steve and I, a few times Chris was able to go on ours as he was under 18. But then this summer it changed (possibly earlier) and only under 12 can ride the coattails of another precheck person.

They both looks so cute in their pink.

This was Ava's first time on it, and while she didn't hate it, she definitely preferred AS2!

I can see that. It's pretty intense.

And now, one of my favorite meals of the whole trip.
I don't know if I was just getting my appetite back so everything tasted good,
but I don't think so because we all loved our lunch here,

We haven't eaten here in years. I need to give it another try.

Very cute selfie.

We continued our stroll, taking more pictures of our favorite topiaries
and finished up the Spike the Bee challenge, which was super fun.

Lovely photos of the topiaries.

We almost went on Frozen, and actually got in line for it,
but Ava was beat and didn't want to wait...
619255

This made me bust out laughing. This girls has sooo much personality.

Allie had picked up this brownie somewhere…maybe at the Market??
619576

That looks so good. I want it now.

but I think she also got nuggies...

Y'all had lots of nuggies this trip.

We finally bribed her with ice cream to get her out...
619584

She doesn't look too happy with her bribe.

It makes me sad to think we won't be seeing these around anymore :sad2:

Me too.

Our plane was scheduled to take off at 10:10am,

What a relief, she made it.
