Its going to be a disaster and I was asked yesterday if I was taking my laptop with me. I gave a firm "NO" , but then it was "strongly suggested" I have my phone with me

I do our company's invoicing and I have brought my laptop on vacation in the past to do our weekly invoicing while my husband takes the kids to Denny's. This trip was timed between our bigger invoicing periods on the 16th and 1st and I told my boss I would under no circumstances be taking my laptop this trip. Yesterday I had a coworker ask who was going to be doing my stuff while I was gone and I told him most would just have to wait until I got back.

However, work pays for my phone so I will have it on me. Sigh.

Completely unexpected and last minute trip: Grand Floridian Aug 16-19th! Anyone else crazy enough to go to first MNSSHP on 16th? Taking my grandson for first time!

Last minute trip because we are going to Tampa on the 16th for a concert. We will be staying Aug 14-17 at ASMo, planning a half day at HS on Friday and then driving over to Tampa for concert and coming back that night.

Ugh I was placing my Walmart grocery pick up order this morning and trying to use hubbys card (we have a $500.00 daily limit on this account with out debit cards and I had other errands to run so I was gonna use his so mine would be free to use the rest of the day) and it was declined. I thought maybe it was because I had to change the expiration date since he had gotten a new one recently. Hubby then tried to get gas on the way to work with it and it was declined there too. So he had to call and for some reason his card was flagged. They didn’t have a reason noted but thankfully got it all worked out. That would have been bad for us to be on vacation and it was flagged.

I had a card flagged while on vacation earlier this year. Used it to pay for lunch at Margaritaville with no problem, then went shopping at their store and it was declined. Luckily had backup credit card and then went thru calls until I could verify it was me using the card. It was very frustrating!

It's complete ******** the level of commitment companies in the US expect. My European colleagues take off for a month and no one thinks twice about it.

Yupp. 22 years with the company and I cant get a break! I cancelled my last few vacation days because they were the last days my boss wold be working (July 4th week) and I didnt want to be out so I could be completely up to speed on everything that needed to be done.

Congrats on the new position, but that's so frustrating they are expecting you to work while on vacation.

Thanks It was a lateral move that I took because I loved the "boss". She was my boss before who gave me control of everything, which I like She brought me with her then ditched me. Quite upsetting. I loved my last role, now Im stuck with this new job, alone

Just added a super quick,rather last minute August visit to our list of 2019 trips! Going the 18-21st mainly for the AP SWGE preview and to meet up with very close DIS friends Staying at CSR, no plans yet other than the preview and one dinner with friends. We rarely plan too far out and were just there for the 4th, go back in Sept and are totally fine with an on the fly trip!

I hope you have a great time at the preview. I was really bummed that our vacation doesn't start until 8/24. ;(

On the plus side, we will be staying 7 nights at the WL, our longest trip ever, and we will be celebrating - my retirement - finally, last day of work is 8/22, and DH's recovery from very major surgery last month.

I told them I appreciate their security measures; but call a person. It's no fun being in line trying to buy something and that happening. And it's frightening when it's a debit card because the first thought that runs through your head is that someone has emptied your account.

We have a package with the dining plan and will be getting groceries to cover what the dining plan doesn't. I'm actually thinking of packing a few Disney gift cards so I don't need my debit card for any trip related stuff. That does remind me though I need to lower the limit while we are traveling. The trip's paid for including dining and I'm going to pick up some gift cards and cash before we leave. I'm glad you got it straightened out.

I have 8,000 things to do in the 19 days we have left. As usual, I have already overpacked so I need to trim down the suitcases. My biggest struggle on Disney trips is packing all of life's necessities like personal products, make up, sunblock, first aid suplies, meds, Ibuprofen etc, etc. I have many sample sizes, but even so it's a challenge; the girl scout in me must be prepared for every possible situation. I have one of those over the door Vera bags, but when it's full of takes up a lot of luggage real estate. I may be better off using all zip locks, and stuffing them in DH's duffel. UGH! Any tips would be appreciated. Bringing the SUV in on Friday for the pre trip inspection / oil change, and two recalls that we were informed about last week! One of the service advisories is a tad alrming; the shift button could pop off preventing the car from shifting gears. !!! Oh, the joys of travel.

Lol, we have flights with Delta where we transfer in Minneapolis. I just read that a pilot was removed from a fully boarded Delta flight in Minneapolis and arrested for intoxication. Glad it wasn't ours!

As its storming outside, I was thinking about when (IF ) it rains in FL. I have pochos, but Im sure my sneakers would get soaked...so thought about bringing 2 pairs, but then I remembered the "shoe covers" my mother used to give us when we walked to school in the rain. Havent seen them in years, but they must still be sold somewhere, right?

Went straight to google and typed what we called them 40 years ago. Lets just say bad idea typing "rubbers" into google I guess Im old !!

Reminded me of the summer before my 1st child went off to college and I was looking for a footlocker to keep at the end of his bed for storage. At work, I went to google and typed in "Large Chest". OMG...couldnt X out of it fast enough!!!!

Thanks. I do appreciate the security but it was so weird. This is the same small town credit union I have had an account with since I was 12 (and I'm 47 now!) so they normally would just contact us. That's why it was so strange to us. The fact that this is my normal monthly shopping (since hubby is a teacher and gets paid once a month, I do one big shopping each month) so the kids would have plenty of choices and easy meals for while we are gone. My daughter and youngest son have very different taste on foods so even though DD loves to cook, she wouldn't want to cook a full course meal for just the two of them so they would both have something to eat. Let's just say I bought plenty of pizzas, frozen hamburger patties he can grill and easy things like quesadilla stuff so youngest son (18 yrs old) can definitely fend for himself and not rely on DD cooking anything.

Hubby and I also have GCs to pay for our meals since we don't have the dining plan and I have some cash and have my credit card linked for mobile ordering some places but we will probably use the debit card for gas on the way to nashville and home again.

We received an email about our Mitsubishi RVR (kind of an Outlander in the states) where we have 4 recalls on it! One of which involves the moon roof, which is a giant sheet of glass on the top of the vehicle that could apparently fly off at some point. I guess that wouldn't be a good thing!
