The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

I just checked in to my flight for tomorrow morning to DISNEY WORLD!!! :dance3::dance3:

Have a good trip!

I have a girl's night planned for tonight and they are ordering pizza but we're starting later so I am going to go ahead and make/eat dinner prior. I'm not a huge pizza fan. I'm making Guinness Beef Stew from some magazine... maybe Cooking Light? Not sure. I'm feeling blah after my long day yesterday but I think I'll perk up later today.

Good morning!

I just checked in to my flight for tomorrow morning to DISNEY WORLD!!! :dance3::dance3: I got "A" boarding group for Southwest. :woohoo: I've never flown them before but knew about the check in 24 hours ahead thing for "A" boarding from the DIS. On Sunday I'm going to do the Princess Half Marathon! :scared1: I've never done something like this before so I'm a bit nervous but I'm sure I'll do fine because I did 10 miles last Sunday in 2 hours, 20 minutes, (14 min/mile pace) and this Sunday I'll have 3 hours, 30 minutes to do 13.1 miles (you have to maintain a 16 mile pace). Plus, it's the Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot! :cheer2:

Okay...gotta go to work! Have a great day everybody!

Have fun. :yay:

Took a few hours off this morning and went to the Amish Market. :cloud9: Got lots off good stuff, sausage links, loose sausage, turkey ham, Buffalo Chicken sausages, cheese, Whoopie Pies and rolls, veggies and a few other things. Got some nice new red potates to make PW's Crash Hot Potatoes.

Robin -- I always come back from Disney craving all kinds of vegetables. It is really weird how the restaurants don't serve many vegetables with their dishes. Last trip, Beck and I ordered a salad to share with almost every meal just so we wouldn't feel so vegetable deprived.

Wendie -- Yuck on Applebees. My kids love that place (they've only been once) but I can't stand it.

I forgot to mention Alex thought it was ok. "it would have been better with chicken"
 Thanks for the recipe.

Nancy -- You should not be afraid of lamb chops. They are so easy either on the grill or under the broiler!

Bethany -- Have a safe trip and good luck on the race!

Sheryl -- I agree with Bethany. That project seems like a lot for a first grader. I'm sure you remember our Battle of Abraham Lincoln here, and that was fourth grade!

Today is a busy day. Caili has skating and then Liam has his tryout for baseball. It's really an evaluation so the teams are more evenly matched. Then I am going out to an Indian restaurant with my neighbor to celebrate her 40th birthday.

Here's a picture from my dinner last night: Chicken Stir Fry

And Caili wanted me to take a picture of her dinner too. That's teriyaki sauce in the lower right:

Just wanted you all to know what a gem of a person we have in a friend like Nancy.

She has been talking and helping me with WW Core. She is going above and beyond for me.

Nancy and Marisa - Thank you so much. Friends like you truly are "Gifts from God"

Nancy lamb chops are really, really easy! You can just broil them and they come out great. Do you like the loin chops or the rib chops? I can give you a couple of recipes if you want.
.

Now is where I admit I have no idea which ones I like :confused3

SOrry about your friend. I hoep she is better soon!

I cannot believe what that child has for school work! She looked adorable though!

I have to figure that FB thing out. i thought that if I commented on tehm adn clicked Share you could see her.
Ethan has a wrestling meet tonight so we will watch that. Oh those little ones are so darn cute out on the HUGE mat. They are so proud of themselves - win or lose. After that he is coming home with us. Wednesday night at church Poppy and him made a date for the weekend. So we will have a good time.

.

:cloud9: I love this age! Have a great time!

Ellen- we are like a cult according to Donny........and Marisa says we like to bring everyone into the CORE group! I'll ge the info to you by the weekend!

Dinner is wild caught flounder....somehow. We;'ll see

WFD- fried cod and curly fries

I spoke to soon about my poor Dad. Today my DM caught his foot when she was walking past him. The intense pain he felt was written over his face. My DM & I went out on errands say he could lay down. When we got back I brought in her groceries to find him in bed in tears from the pain. Of course he told me not to tell my Mom. I left there in tears. It sucks to see someone you love in that kinda pain.

Oh Ann, I'm so sorry. I know how hard that must have been, I'm praying for Dad.

Oh, I am so sorry. Can the doctor call in some pain meds for him before the weekend is upon us? Poor guy.

I have to brag... it's gorgeous today!!! mid 60's, sunny, breezy. I pulled the lounge chair into the backyard and laid there and threw the ball for Winston for awhile earlier and now, after running a few errands, opened up the house and am enjoying the warm sun. It really perked my spirits :goodvibes Tomorrow is supposed to be the same with less breeze so I can get outside and paint some things I have on hand.

Ann- your poor DF.

Getting ready to leave to go to a Pampered Chef Party, will have dinner there.

Have fun!

Bethany- if you check in...............safe travels adn have a wonderful time!

Dinner is cooking. I am pan frying wild flounder, snap peas, mashed potatoes adn a green salad. i am starving!!

Ann, I feel for your DD is it his back or his hip? I think u mentioned he was waiting for a hip replacement, sometimes radiating pain that travels to the groin is actually due to a hip problem not sciatica

Aimee It sounds like you are getting back to your old self enjoy your nice weather

Nancy your fish dinner sounded delicious

wfd my husband picked up fish and chips from our local market they were so good I was working late today so I arrived home tired and very hungry I have a regular job in a clinic but have started a second per diem job making home visits. I have been doing it for about 7 months now(ever since we got the first tuition bill for dd# 2's college tuition. I really enjoy it It's so interesting to see people in their home enviornment and how they get around The woman I saw today was so glad to have me come in and try to help her get around a little better

Joanne- what a nice way to help people! I know that when my Mom had cisiting nurses adn aides she looked forward to having them come. THey made her day so much brighter.

My dinner tasted good but it was a hot mess! My poor fish tore up int he pan so we had more like shredded flounder!

Joanne- Were the F&C from Dave's??? i have been wanting to try them but haven't. It is my Dad's hip.

Marilyn, hope you had fun at Pampered Chef...what did you buy?

Ellen, good luck with WW. I need Risa and Nancy to motivate me next. I need a damn food intervention with all the stress lately.

Laura, :thumbsup2 loved Caili's food porn!

Kat, my friend...how are you feeling?

--------------

Got up at 1am with the baby and have not been able to sleep since. Mind racing about Dad. Off to try to sleep again. Wish someone was on to keep me company...where is my insomniac friend Maria when I need her!!!

Ann I hope you were able to get back to sleep last night or this morning. Sorry your dad is in such pain:hug:

Nancy I hate when fish breaks up like that.

Aimee I am glad you are feeling better. Have you had any pain lately?

Marilyn What's new at Pampered chef? I luckily haven't been to a party in a while. Tastefully simple is my down fall.

Kathy how are you doing? I think I missed you yesterday.

Today is very sunny and is supposed to be near 50 degree:yay::yay:. I'm not sure what is on the agenda today. I don't know if I'm taking Alex to karate or his dad. Someone is not returning messages.:headache::mad: I what to spring clean.

Maybe fish taco's tonight or something grilled if I can get the tank filled.

 I just wanted to add to Joanne's idea. Buddy had excruciating pain this Fall. I have never seen any amount of pain drop him but this did. You remember how awful it was. Anyway, for the pain that radiated and at first sounded like sciatica, the multitude of Dr's finally determined that he had somehow managed to flare up a nerve that was causing all of it. He had to let it heal. The Dr's checked his hip, his spine, just about everything that they could see and there was nothing else that answered it but the level of pain was horrific.

I think I have Nola for her "dry run" sleepover tonight. :cloud9: Welby and I decided that she should get comfortable sleeping overnight JIC there ever is a time when she needs to. They are going to have dinner with Jakes parents and will not be far so if it does not work out they can come back. I have assured her that in the event they need to leave Nola during the night when the new little No Named Baby comes along I can just put her to bed in her own home and stay there. I am prepared to be up all night with Ann tonight though ;) becasue I think she will have a bit of an adjustment.

Nancy-Good luck with Nola. DD gets up around 1am but I can have her back down now in 10-15 minutes usually. A speedy diaper change and bottle in the dark no lights no noice. Even if she is awake I put her down and she doesn't fuss. DS was total opposite. He would keep me up for an hour in the middle of the night. Last night was a fluke and my nerves  not her.

I think majority of his pain is hip but I think there is some back pain mixed in also. Prayers, fingers and toes crossed that this surgery makes him have a better quality of life.

Ann - Hope you were able to get some sleep.

Nan - Good luck with Nola.

I'm feeling pretty good, thanks for asking!

WFD - I've been craving vegetable soup so I'm going to make that for dinner.

Ann yes the fish an chips were from Dave's they were so good and he portions very generous They had a good coating on them light and golden . They looked so appetizing they could have been fried up by one of the Liam sisters :rotfl:

Already been grocery shopping planning on cleaning the house , church and then out to dinner. Going in to Providence to Federal Hill so looking forward to a great meal. Enjoy your Saturday everyone

Oh Ann I can also say all these ladies are saying is true. Having been through it They did back surgery 1st but I really knew that wasnt bottom line. Once I got it through to them it was my hip had it replaced and 95% of problem gone ya. I so wish your Dad the best.
