Next Friday!!!!! :woohoo:

Of course at this time next Friday we'll be participating in the Backstage Magic tour as part of our 1 night Platinum plan. We'll hardly see the room, which is why we're going back Labor Day weekend with the kiddos!:cool1:

Anyone know if someone is standing in for Ranger Stan each day or have they discontinued the flag family for a day?

Anyone know if someone is standing in for Ranger Stan each day or have they discontinued the flag family for a day?

When I asked IPO about it, I was told that they've noted our request on our reservation and to mention it again when we check in. Nothing was said about it being discontinued. :confused3

We have an "odd" booking at the WL/WLV due to rate availability. Start the trip at WL for 2 nights and then the WLV for the remaining 3 nights.

Has anyone had a ressie like this or have any comments on the WLV?

Thanks! :goodvibes

9 more days till wl....10 of us are going....taking mom and dad for their 1st trip ever to disney world!.......can't wait for the magic to begin!:grouphug:

We just paid off our trip. :cool1: We are celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Can't wait.

Page three??? This thread got pushed out to page 3??? Terrible!

I'm hoping folks can help me. We'll be at WL from 12/17 to 12/21 with the just released AP rate. Me, my best friend and my two girls. Our APs expire the 21st, so of course we had to go!

I'm hoping that joining this thread will help me avoid over-planning around meals. I remember thinking last time that I put way too much energy into ADRs and wondering why. I think it is because anticipating Disney is so much fun, and that is something I can do--make/organize/change ADRs. The payoff isn't there though, because the meals aren't why we're at Disney--my kids eat very little. Its the fun in the parks and the resort that matters. So this time, I'm trying to make sure I focus on that.

What activities have people done at WL and enjoyed with young kids (mine are both 7?) I was thinking about biking over to Ft. Wilderness to see the decorations. The pool is a big maybe in December. I remember there were characters in the lobby last year, so that's fun and another good reason not to have ADRs out and about every night.

Thanks!

Has anyone gone to Sea World from WL? I am thinking about surprising DD6 in a couple of weeks. But, DH is an absolute pain about leaving Disney property-he just won't do it. So I need to make it as painless and cost effective for him to even think about it. Any suggestions? Thank You!!!

Fantastic upgrade, I can only hope for something that awesome for our upcoming trip at the beginning of October
It was an amazing, once in a lifetime upgrade. Part of the reason we were upgraded though was because the ceiling near the sinks in our first room next door started leaking. While trying to repair it, a worker's foot went through the ceiling and it turned-out to be a much bigger mess and repair than originally anticipated so the CL mgr. made the decision to leave us in the suite our entire stay.

Wow, what an awesome story/upgrade!! How are you ever going to want to stay anywhere else?!

28 days for me!! :cool1:
DH has said that while I'm free to pick whatever resort I want for the first half of our future split stays, he insists that the second half must be WL/CL. He absolutely loved it and can't wait to return.

That's why DH will only stay at WL...because of the CMs. I already have my goody basket for them set up...A big basket of every Girl Scout Cookie. Hope they like them, even though they have Disney goodies galore. Who can resist Girl Scout Cookies??;)
My DH is the same way now. He loved everything about CL. I already miss Mike, Loyda, Kash and Randy the CL mgr. Everyone who works CL is so sweet and attentive.

My fave place to stay is the Wilderness Lodge Villas!! My family and I fell in love with it when the main WL opened in '94 (I think thats right) and then it became part of the DVC!! So after staying there countless times I had no idea about Humphrey. We always take a picture with him, but never knew his name or his story. Cant wait to tell my parents about that! And I will be sure to rub his nose in September!!
So glad you know about Humphrey. Humphrey Jr. is up on club level next to the lounge. Have a great September trip!

Yippee for two trips in a month!!!!

Anyone know if someone is standing in for Ranger Stan each day or have they discontinued the flag family for a day?
Yes, another CM is doing it. The Flag Family has NOT been discontinued.

When I asked IPO about it, I was told that they've noted our request on our reservation and to mention it again when we check in. Nothing was said about it being discontinued. :confused3
You'll need to see about getting on the list when you check-in. Just ask to see if there is availability during your stay.

We have an "odd" booking at the WL/WLV due to rate availability. Start the trip at WL for 2 nights and then the WLV for the remaining 3 nights.

Has anyone had a ressie like this or have any comments on the WLV?

Though I've never done it, it sounds like an easy way to get some laundry done in your room and have a little more room to spread out at the end of your stay.

Your parents are going to have a great time. Make sure it's noted in your reservation that it's their first visit.

We just paid off our trip. :cool1: We are celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Can't wait.
Congratulations on 25 years! We'll be celebrating our 25th next summer at WDW. Where are you going to have your anniversary dinner?

So excited, today is my double digit dance :cool1:!!!!! 99 days until we check in to the WL.
Have a great vacation!

We were at WL last Christmas and loved biking over to FTW to see all the decorated RVs, cabins and campsites. Everyone should see them at least once.

Last week we did the Archery Experience at FTW and it was great! There are also daily activities for kids and the Cub's Den has free activities from 2-4. There is also an arcade, though we prefer the one at the CR. It's a quick boat ride to the CR and you can also do some resort hopping on the monorail with the kids.

Have you ever done Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue? It's lots of fun and the food, wine and beer is all-you-can-eat/drink.

I've never done it, but I've read that the Lynx bus #50 goes from the TTC to Sea World downtown. You could also take a cab. Here is the Lynx link:

KOOK, you realize (that) you've convinced me to try WL CL! :goodvibes I need an open balcony, so would probably want to book a deluxe room....but as you know, WL deluxe rooms are more than BC deluxe. Might take some mighty long saving and a darn good code, but wouldn't it be a neat trip for my DGd when she is 5 or 6 or even a bit older? Oh, and my DD and sil too! ::yes::

I am so happy for your once in a lifetime upgrade! It's so exciting, that it is the next best thing to it happening to my family. :goodvibes

I remember the time a friend checked into CR, handed their key card and told to go to the 14th floor (funny, no escort)...they had no idea until arriving at the room that it was the Presidential Suite! They only there 2 ngts, but it was pretty amazing. Your upgrade, may well be one of the longest ever! :goodvibes

Aren'tchya glad ya didn't move to the Poly?! ;)

(p.s.We just might have to visit WL decorated for the holidays...but that would mean DGd being younger so she would not miss school...hmmm...)

 I don't think it's odd - many guests do a split stay, so this wouldn't be so different.:thumbsup2

Do you have a studio or 1 bedroom at WVL? We stayed in a studio and liked it better than the Lodge. The room was larger, the Villa lobby so beautiful (we were there when it was decorated for the holidays), the walk over very peaceful. I was surprised we liked it so much! It is a very easy walk to the main pool (or the Villas have a quiet pool)...you just cut through the Villa lobby, out the back door and walk around the pool which brings you to the lake and main pool. Roaring Forks is just across the way and before the main pool there is a walkway to the water launch docks.

You could always keep checking for a room in the Lodge to open up so you do not have to move. Disney room availiblity changes constantly, so there's a chance it could happen. You could even ask at check-in if you could stay in Lodge, in the same room.

I know it's not fun to change after a couple of nights, but being in the same resort should go very smoothly.

Hope you have a wonderful stay!!:goodvibes

DOUBLE DIGITS!! :woohoo:

Anyone ever have a room on the first floor? Good, bad? We were looking for something by the Villas.

We were in a first floor Lodge room for a day at the end of our Villa stay last November - personally, would not want a first floor as I enjoy the light of an upper floor, but friends have enjoyed a first floor room and have read many DIS reviews who enjoyed it, as well as some who were not crazy about it...so really does depend on personal preference.

Will you be in a Villa or would like a Lodge room on the Villa side? The Villa side lodge rooms face the Villa quiet pool, although there are tall trees in between...but if you were thinking about a quiet location, it would depend on the time of year. Summer would not be as quiet as cooler months.

Sorry I couldn't be more help. Perhaps someone else will reply.:goodvibes

We stayed in a first floor room in Sept/Oct of 2010. we absolutely loved the room! We were facing the WLV and the 'quiet pool' was just steps from our door. It was nice to be able to walk from the pool into our room without going through the hotel. It was not a room we requested but because we went with my in-laws and they requested a king bed, that is where we ended up. It worked out well for us.
We did have segway tours going by a different times during the day and shades needed to be closed at night but we all loved the room!

Congratulations on 25 years! We'll be celebrating our 25th next summer at WDW. Where are you going to have your anniversary dinner?

As it is our 25th SOOO We are going to celebrate a couple times, We are starting at Ohana Sunday night, Then Le Cellier Monday Night, The Yachtsmen on Tuesday, The California Grill Wed and the Aloha show Thursday Night.

During one of my families previous stays at the Wilderness Lodge we had a room on the 1st floor that faced their pool. I remember that we thought it was good and one reason is because we didn't have to deal with the eleavtors.

I am jealous! Happy 25th! Mine is approaching in three years, but I can't believe it! I remember when my parents friends all celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary and I thought (as only a wonderful teenager would)...oh my how old are they!!!!! Now I don't feel that way!

Thanks to Minnie&Nana's encouragement and since we're fast approaching jumbo thread status, I've been working on a new home for us. I've been uploading and editing MANY of my photos from my most recent trip and Christmas '10, so I hope to have a new thread up this week. I'll post the link here when I (finally!) have it done.
