To Chicken for HHN!!

I don't like haunted houses at all, so I don't go. I don't like scary/gory movies (no favorite characters), and nothing would get me to go to HHN! I took my girl scout troop of 14-15 year olds to a local amusement park with haunted houses in October once and had to escort a couple who wanted to go through but were afraid, so I have been through it, but I just don't enjoy it.

Ditto! I'm a coward of the highest order, so no way no how.

I can't do haunted houses. No scary movies ever
I know they are fake. Fakededy fake fake fake as can be. I know they can't touch. Before I walk in. Doesn't help one bit. I freak out! So no haunted houses for me
However, the scare zones are perfect. I'm totally in control. I can get away if need be. Something about the openness helps. Even a scary cat like me loves them. No eye contact is the key

I just read your quote to my DD (who went to college and lived in Orlando for a few yrs after), and she agrees with you. Exact quote: "That's the only way to do HHN, makes it so much better." :scared1::drinking1:thumbsup2

HHN is always a drunk out. They’ve actually cut alcohol sales somewhat in recent years (they no longer sell shots in line). The guests are always entertaining!

I love scary movies but hate being startled. I don't want people jumping out at me. That's unavoidable at HHN. I wanted to go badly enough that I figured I'd try anyway. I had a drink before heading in - but just one so really not enough that it probably did anything. I went with a group but it really wouldn't have mattered if I hadn't. They have people go through the house so close to together that you can see what's going on pretty well. I found that my startle level was much lower. I could handle it because I knew it would be fairly constant and it was. I found it funny more than anything else and laughed my entire way through. I hate the scare actor in the regular Kong line for comparison but could handle doing all the HHN houses. I do have some issues with strobe lights - they give me headaches and make it so I can't see at all. For that part, having someone I knew did help. I hung on to the back of my husband's shirt as he guided me through. Otherwise, I would have run into several walls. It also allowed me to look down and not get the same bright strobe effect fully.

I loved the scare zones too. Those were a lot more interactive. And though some did try to startle, there was a lot more interaction with the scare actors there and that made it a lot more fun.

I'm a horrible wimp and when we've gone to HHN the last two years, I pretty much look straight ahead in the houses and quickly glance side to side. It was nice doing a tour as the guide would go in first and point to many of the details. Took my mind off the scareactors!!

The scare zones were fun! I told my family- no talking through there! I enjoyed watching the actors and they tended to focus on those who weren't paying attention and talking to their friends or family!

1. They can't touch. I get the environment itself is scary but theres NOTHING that can happen to you. Once you get over that, it makes it much easier to do it.

Are you sure?? I was told by a friend who went a couple years ago that they jumped out and grabbed her arm and another tried to clothesline her?

This was the main reason we decided to do NSSHP instead - I was afraid they were going to try to grab me around the neck

They absolutely don’t grab you ever......and would never clothesline you!!!

You are also not allowed to touch them..........

I have bumped into one by accident and almost scratched a SA girl who was behind me.......but they could both see it was an accident. The girl actually shouted to the guy on the podium still in character I couldn’t join them in their “clan” as I was too nice.......I was so apologetic.........but you won’t be touched.

False statements (such as a TM having physical contact like that) seems to spread until people actually believe it.

It is not valid at all.

Remember the kids game telephone?
You whisper to one person a statement and it is whispered again all around the circle of kids.

Last person states aloud what was said to them.

Most times a different saying or phrase than what was started.

That’s good to know - thanks!!

There is no way in heck that happens. Can you imagine the liability to the park? I have to ask how anyone can truly believe such a tall tale. I'm sorry you had a friend tell you something so false that it kept you from going. A true shame

Haunted houses around her do have people that will grab you and mss with you so it to me wasn’t a ‘tall tale’ - it sounded the normal haunted house stuff -

When I was in 8th grade, we did a haunted house and my job was to tap ankles with a metal cane

Wow, that seems incredibly dangerous and stupid to do to people who come to the haunted house. All that is doing is asking for serious trouble. Amazing anyone insures them. They are never allowed to touch you at haunted houses here. Never have, not since I was a kid and not now. I used to go to them and while I can't do them any more, knowing I couldn't ever be touched was one thing that always made them ok.

How are people not ever hurt by the actions of the actors in the houses? Or grabbed in inappropriate places? I'm not a prude but in the dark, twisting turning, heaven knows what's grabbed or twisted. Or pinched. Or as you said, if someone was clotheslined they could be seriously hurt in the throat.

I don’t think they have separate insurance?? Since they are houses are condemned to be tore down afterwards .... maybe it’s just the school insurance?
