What are your highlights of 2015?

Quiet year tied up with planning my son's wedding that will be next year. They got engage in 2014.

Bought a restored 1965 Mustang last week, at this point, that would be the big event of the year.

Did our usual Spring Training trip, and to visit my wife's step-mom in Texas. All other trips have been 1 or 2 nighters within 150 miles of home, 2 of them to state parks.
Oh nice, a mustang!

The best thing that happened to us this year was being able to take a vacation to DC with my husband and having our kids join us to go to a family reunion in VA. DC was awesome and we really enjoyed all the history. The family reunion consisted of a Thurs-Sun long, relaxing weekend. We hardly ever get to see these relatives, so it was great to be able to talk and catch up. We also don't get the kids together for a vacation very often, so it was nice to be able to share that part of the vacation with them, as well.

Watching ds3 graduate with his BSN degree and now applying for his masters and having him work at his dream place right now

Having ds2 get a full time job in 2 days

Having ds1 finally get a part time job in his field after looking for almost a year

Dealing with dh work travels too much than I care to remember

Teaching 20 3rd graders at VBS this summer with lots of amazing helpers.

Dealing with a giant blood clot in my leg for 3 months

Finally getting to Disney World for Food and Wine after the blood clot but sadly when we were there I found out my uncle passed away

Hopefully gong to Disney World next month to see the Osborne Lights for the last time

Becoming a Grandma for the very first time! Our grandson (oldest DD) was born in October and we are totally smitten with him! Spending his first Christmas with him and his parents as well!!!

Youngest DD did a second College Program at WDW, so we were down there to visit her and loved seeing her working at her favorite place in the world!

Celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this year, with a trip to Hawaii and staying at Aulani!

2010 through 2014 were terrible for me. 2015 has been great so far - a new, secure AND flexible job and some amazingly fun times with my kids!

Lowlight: Losing our beloved furbaby to cancer in April. Highlight: Finding a little pup to bring some joy into this house again. It's been three weeks and she's settling into our family so well.

Latest highlight: Seeing and photographing the Full Cold Moon and the Christmas full moon last week.

Being here for this:

#LoveWins 26 June 2015

It was a pretty calm year for us. My husband officially received a large promotion at work that we never dreamed he'd be eligible for and we celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary with 10 days at WDW just the two of us.

My highlights include 2 job changes - the second one was actually a career change that included an unexpected promotion less than a week after I started; setting a personal best 5K time at the Expedition Everest Challenge; a relaxing trip to Williamsburg with my hubby; and a long-weekend trip to see all of my grandparents (whom I hadn't seen in over 2 years). Although the coolest thing I got to do all year just happened this month: I got to sing on a collaborative project with 30 years worth of alumni from my high school choir. I can now say that I have recorded with broadway stars (even though I am about the most mediocre singer you will ever meet.)

I can't wait to see what 2016 will bring.

Lowlights: We lost DH's great aunt the beginning of the year. My MIL's cancer is back and she had to go through radiation. DH's job is nothing but drama.

Highlights: Made it to Disneyland with my dad and best friend. My MIL is doing pretty good since the radiation. DS #3 is growing like a weed and no longer needs a specialist. DH and I went to Melting Pot, so that is off my bucket list.

This past year was pretty uneventful as far as life-changing moments go, but one that I'm hoping will be life-changing is that I attended my 50-year high school reunion, re-connected with a dear friend who connected to me to another dear friend with whom I'd completely lost contact over the 50 years. It turns out that Friend #2 is a published author, and when she learned through our catch-up e-mails that I had done some free-lance editing (college papers, articles for local magazines and newspapers), she asked if I would be willing to try editing her newest novel!

It was a far more intensive editing job than I had ever done, and I worried that perhaps I had been too critical. But she told me to look at EVERYTHING; spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, word appropriateness, continuity, dialog flow, fact-checking, EVERYTHING, and not to be afraid to tell her ANYTHING. So I did, and to my surprise, she was delighted with my work, incorporated ALL my changes, formally asked me to be her permanent editor, and asked if she could refer me to her writer friends!

So at the ripe old age of 68, I'm starting a new career.
