What kind of menu options are there for diabetics?

Not that I've seen or found. But there are options and most of the restaurants will work with you. I've read very good things about California Grill doing just that. Here is a link with some specifics that might help you, http://allears.net/din/special.htm

Beyond that with all of the menus being posted online its a process but you can read up on each location and see which ones are likely to offer compatible meals. In my case I'm looking for items that are low carb and avoiding things that are breaded or with lots of sugar.

I found a good good links that I'll share, but really just hitting up Google with the question will give you many of the same.

Do they have different menu options for diabetes 1 and 2?
There is no special diet for type 1 diabetics. They just need to inject insulin to cover the carbs they are eating. The only foods my daughter "should" avoid are syrups and sodas, pure sugar.

Edit to add: except for Celiac of course, but that's a whole different ball game! :)

NO, they do not. The only thing I avoid is cookies.. with poison. like others have said you can ask to add or take something away. my mom does this a lot just because she wants to eat healthy not because of any health issue ( maybe that is why she does not have any hum)

Diabetics can plan healthy diets with some effort. None of us can eat anything we want in any quantity at any time, Type 1 or Type 2, if we want to remain healthy and maintain a healthy weight, but we can include dessert/snacks in our meal plans. This is not something we can rely on someone else to tell us as different foods metabolize differently in different people. There may need to be more testing than normal while at the parks. I know that breaded and fried foods raise my blood glucose levels more than other foods, so these are foods I consume in small quantities only occasionally. It can be a guessing game to achieve portion sizes adequate to my needs and balance this with perhaps additional exercise levels in a theme park.

If avoiding diabetes was as simple as some diet, there would be fewer diabetics.

I am not diabetic, but prefer healthier food choices overall with a few planned splurges here and there. I think that doing the dlxdp and eating at signature restaurants works better for healthy eating as they tend to have many healthier choices although it is not impossible in most TS locations.

1) Water.
2) On-the-rocks.
.
3) Disney DOES NOT have a diabetic menu or menus.
4) Regardless of Type #1 or #2.
5) There are remedies
. . . at TS eateries, have the hostess (aka: podium SEATER) make a note for the chef to see you for options
. . . at QS, as the manger for the special menu that can cover diabetes and allergies
6) After the above is exhausted, it is up to you to manage the diabetes and food which matches your needs

Many WDW restaurants offer a sugar free dessert or fresh fruit.
Ask for sauce on the side.
Sub for brown rice or extra vegetables when possible.
Most counter service locations have a salad option.
Let the hostess know you have food restrictions and the chef will be able to make you something special, if they are unable to accommodate you on the TS menu.

Fresh fruit can have the same/more sugar in it then cookies a fresh orange will bring my BG yo faster than a lot of other things.

and Sugar-free do not get me started on this one.... but sugar-free does not mean carb free and carb raise BG and often time sugar-free things can cause gas and other things if you eat too much

Yes, you are correct, as I am now remembering from my gestational diabetes days. Depends on what kind of fruit it is. I veered away from the sugar free products back then, just due to their chemicals. My point is there are options to maintaining a diabetic diet in WDW.

Some of those TS "no sugar added" are worse for diabetics than the regular dessert.

I recall a flourless torte from Narcoossee's that was a pastry shell with a flourless chocolate torte (basically, a chocolate bar with eggs and almond flour so it wasn't as dense) with fruit piled on top. While it had "no sugar added", the chocolate itself was high in sugar and the fruit took it over the top. It would be better for a diabetic to eat the almond crusted cheesecake than that "no sugar added" torte!
