a growling stomach is a good sign. It is when you are burning the most calories! Continue trying the water.
I know how you feel - been there. Make the best choices possible and know that you have supporters.
Shawn is right, Sandy!!!

I always try to make sure it's been at least 3 hours since I've eaten before I walk. Most calories burned are on an empty stomach!

And hey! You girls are beautiful! Lovin the bios!

That is too funny. The kids I am watching were here for dinner tonight. And I made carrots with dinner. I gave them a very small helping and told them they had to at least try them. They acted as if they were going to die. Well, their mom came to get them as I was making them sit at the table, and she made them eat them too :rotfl: My rule is, you have to eat the smallest helping I give you. If you want more, great. If not...well either your dont get up from the table, or if I let you and you tell me you are hungry an hour from now I will have saved it for you ;)

I forgot, I was wandering the Dis and on the Theme Park board is a thread declaring that Spaceship Earth in Epcot will be CLOSED AUG - OCT! Not fair, not fair atall - we always get stuck in that ride, its a tradition... where else am I gonna find to make out with dh???

I read that elsewhere too , but supposedly they have been planning this for a while and it keeps getting pushed back. My hope is that it gets pushed back again. I love that pathetic old ride...I will be sad if it s closed. I agree it needs some updating since the "scenes" jump a few million decades at the end :rotfl:

Off to attempt to eat my dinner now...

Good grief! Where is everybody?

I have to get DS ready for bed now.

Check in, peeps!!!

You know who you are!!!

yep, that's me. my hair color changes with the weather.....seriously. i get bored with my hair really quickly. it's been red, blonde, brown, black, purple (when i was a rebellious teenager), brown with blonde highlights, brown with red highlights. the listgoes on. i just got it cut and colored today, as a matter of fact. go check out my latest post on my TR to check it out!

I am chopping my hair on Sat...TEN INCHES!! (I hope to donate it to Locks of Love) I had short hair about 6 years ago but have let it grow since then. But I have only worn it down about TWO times in THREE years!! I hate it. It is in a ponytail or a clip everyday. So time to cut it. I will get it highlighted too. I will be sure to post pics!!

I am a stickler when it comes to kids eating their food...the SIL's kids eat NOTHING and it drives me nuts. At T-giving the 3 yo just ate a bowl of jello and had like 3 pieces of pie. SIL didn't make her eat anything else. Grr. The kids I take care of have GREAT eating habits. All the kids eat whatever I make and like you, if it's something they are hesitant about, I just want them to try it. If they refuse (only happened once) he knew he wasn't getting down until he finished...and he did!! I like your idea of saving it for later...definetly the right move. :thumbsup2 I guess I was just raised to clean my plate (within reason) and hate how kids today are allowed to eat junk all day and hardly and fruits/veggies. Sorry...had to rant!!

Everytime I see this picture... I look at you and say OMG! You are STUNNING!!

I try very hard, but end up talking to myself over and over again - and y'all are just too kind to bring it up!!

I"M HUNGRY! and not just any hunger, I want PIZZA, cheeseburger,, frenchfries, and chocolate cake - not just any chocolate cake, not just any chocolate..

I've been drinking water, I had an apple and 5 carrots... I had sugar free jello with frozen ff cool whip... my stomach isnt growling loudly, it hurts...

so I either have to feed it anything I can find (Twinkies, little bites, maybe some frozen choc chip pancakes...)

or start Disin... :confused3

Hi Sandy! There are times when I feel like that too. If I tell myself I can't have something that is when I want everything. If I figure out a way to have my craving within my points limits I will have it. For instance, I love pizza and I have it at least once a week. However, lately I have been making it on lite english muffins with low fat cheese. I get the taste without feeling bad about it. When I feel really hungry 94% fat free popcorn is very filling and it takes a while to eat. I know you can do this! You are strong and all of your Peeps are here for you!!

Also, my mom and my grandma made a lot of the flowers for my wedding. They looked really nice and we saved a lot of money!

Here I am on my wedding day... Truly one of the three best days of my life.. Of course the others being.. when the girls were born.

It is nice to look back and remember the good times.. Sad, yes.. but nice also.

Hey all does anyone wanna give me the cliff notes version of what is happenin on this busy thread? :rotfl: i am too far behind to even begin to catch up ...but just wanted to drop by and say Hi to all the peeps and welcome to the newbies and happy belated birthday to those who have celebrated.:cloud9:

What - you have a real LIFE???

I am chopping my hair on Sat...TEN INCHES!! (I hope to donate it to Locks of Love) I had short hair about 6 years ago but have let it grow since then. But I have only worn it down about TWO times in THREE years!! I hate it. It is in a ponytail or a clip everyday. So time to cut it. I will get it highlighted too. I will be sure to post pics!!

Cant wait to see it! WTG on locks for love!

Sorry...had to rant!!

Ok, true confessions.
I vowed when I was in 5th grade to NEVER let food be an issue. I dont care if my kids eat or not - and I know I could've done a better job, its the whole pendulum - you see my mom made us eat. I remember sitting at a table for hours refusing to eat peas, then learning to swallow them whole... I remember having to make a carrot sandwich to hide the carrot flavor... I remember mom pulling my hair so hard I screamed and she shoved the stewed tomatoes down my throat and dared me to throw up. (and of course I calmly went to the bathroom ten minutes later and threw it up) There are more, but suffice it to say these are some lowlights. Because of this my kids are picky eaters, horribly so, and they hate having to go to my moms - she of course yells at me for their horrible eating habits.

today, my sons eat tons of stuff, and make me feel ok. (hey ds 19 has had borscht, he'll eat it, not like it, but he'll eat it!)

I chose to make a dinner, if the kids chose not to eat it, I've always made sure there is something of the food groups - and if they dont eat, dessert is going to be something healthy period. I serve raw veggies (carrots, lettuce, etc) and fruits, lots of fruits... and we always always discuss the 4 food groups and healthy eating.

So, please try and raise your kids in the way that works for you - none of you would be abusive to your kids... but like Alec Baldwin (that's going to be a phrase , "I had a Baldwin moment, forgive me") sometimes food does become an issue (yes, I've gotten extremely frustrated - like tonight, she didnt eat her protein - cheese, and she asked for cheese11) but I try and remind myself...

Life is short, too short, and goshdarnit they grow too fast...

Here are two pictures from November. The first is of me and Joshua at our house. The second is of me and Katie at COncourse Steakhouse.

Can no longer DIS at school... so, I'm a bit behind.

"Special Project", heh? Maybe it wouldn't be too bad to be Jay's special project? Seriously, Dene...tell the cool kids that the time lapse is all the more reason to find the right guy not just an available guy. He's out there looking for you, too, I'll bet.
God's timing, Dene. I believe good things are coming for you.
YES!!! She will! I have no doubt about it!
Awww......sweet friends!

Jay is my fantasy boyfriend... reality is something totally different. He's my friend and that's probably all it will ever amount to (except in my dreams :cloud9: ). I also think Jay got my hint about "not yet" (as in, I'm waiting for someone special) 'cuz he hasn't joked about it in a couple of days.

dene love your recap of the excapades at the Y. When I was a Y counselor we didnt have a hunky trainer dude. All I got was preschool fruitloop breath in morning swimming lessons and the director was arrested for being a pedophile:eek: I like your Y much better;)

:scared: So do I!!!!!!

Dene - you can write a book - I'm laughing out loud, I'm engaged, and want to be with the Peeps as you tell us the story in real life... as in ME TOO ME TOO!!

"Dene' reveals that she has not had... "male companionship" in something over 15 years. Looks of shock and gasps fill the room" No you didnt!? Really!!! Here Sandy thinks, hmmmm wonder if Jay will... 'oblige dene'... tonight??? hmmm wonder if Jay went to Spring Break crowds???

"(no exploits though, there shall be no exploits without Jay)." Dene needs to watch some of those Spring Break exploits!!

and that one gave me chills dene - true goosebumps - see look, on my arms and my legs!!

and of course, how did we all end up here?? For a reason???

:grouphug:

Yep, I really said that. As I mentioned before, Jay's the fantasy...:rolleyes1

Woo Hooty on 5 lbs!!

Thank you!

OK, first off....:faint:And where are the pictures????
And second...Things do happen for a reason, you never know what this new friendship could bring to your life :goodvibes

I know I gotta get some pix! My description does not do him justice!

Oh Dene! I hear you on this! I know you will! And I know the feeling. In the past couple of weeks, I have really started feeling reconnected with the me I was years ago, and it is so exciting! I am getting her back for good this time! And I know for me, as I start to feel that way, it makes me want to reach that final goal even faster. I can really relate, and I'm so happy for you! :cheer2:

That reconnection is empowering!

Dene hon I thought about sending you this in a PM but I thought that many others here could benefit from what I am about to say as well.

Girl - I am so proud of you. Not just for losing the weight. But for finally loving yourself enough to take control of your habits and mold them into something positive. Yes you have had a support group. Yes you have Hunky trainer dude. BUT most importantly, you have Dene' who is a beautiful, intelligent, funny woman. Then she started losing weight, and you should see her now.... Your story was hilarious and touching and at the end I know there is a happy ending. But please know that "male companionship" is not the measure of the woman. When the right man comes along you will know it. But he cant see you if you don't love yourself. So your stepping out into the new world you are seeing with fresh new eyes, its just one baby step in the way of progress. You are strong, you are motivated. You have learned to love Dene for who she is....and have decided to show her that you love her by letting her find her way in this great big world again. The rest will happen in its own time. Good Job Girlfriend. Obiwan didn't do this - Grasshopper did, You possess the power to make your goal and I know you can do it.

PS - where's the picture already?!!!???!!! Whats he want an special invite?:confused3 pirate: hehe

I know... I never want to let a man (or anyone) "define" me again... change me from who I am to who they want me to be.

Picture... I know, I need to work on it some more... "Now, Jay?" "How about now?" "Picture time yet?" Darn, wish someone would have a party... people tend to take pictures at parties, not when you're "hanging out".

DENE-if you are around...

Stay safe! I see on the news here that there is a bad storm near Granbury, and they say it is very possibly becoming a tornado.

The really bad weather usually misses us, so I dont think it is headed my way. But it has been raining all day here.

There was some damage in Pecan Plantation (subdivision north of Granbury)... one of my students said her house was on the news on 3 different channels... and tonight my mom called to say she saw my HS BF on the news because her store in Denton had flooding/water damage.

Harley what you posted to Dene took my breath away - :thumbsup2 it was so what I was thinking, but didnt know how, or if I should say it... blessings to you!

I do hope one day Dene that I can be at that place - you've worked so very hard, you and Lynda to... almost like the lil engine that could.. you have this goal and you just hang in there, and fight for you... one day at a time... its not been easy... its been work... in the meantime, I've been flitting, floating, whining, cheesing... then one day I look at your post in admiration... wondering if "someday" I'll get there too!!

:grouphug:

You WILL get there! Come on, we're going together! :grouphug:

I also wanted to echo Sandy's comments about how eloquent Harley's comments to Dene' were. HARLEY, YOU ROCK!

Dene', your story was a classic!!! Yes. Vicarious living at it's finest!

Happy I could help! And congrats on the new bling!:cool2:

A note from Dr. Phil:
Sandy, what's holding you back? You CAN be there too!!!! You're just as worth while as any of us. Just as worthy. Just as beautiful, inside and out!!! Stop listening to the negative self-talk. You've got all the tools we have. Listen to your heart, not your head. You've got support and friends who love ya!!!

So good, I thought it should be repeated!

Ok so I tried on my "one size down jeans" last night for the first time since losing the 7lbs. Still don't fit BUT they are a tad easier to get into. I really don't like any of them..they are all low rise from my single days on match.com!!! :rolleyes1 I just need to fit into them again for spite.

:lmao:

But, I'm starting anew... again... I have Wendy in my head telling me no negative self talk... I have Dene running ahead of me - can you see her? I do... its inspiring me to run to the next tree... then walk... now see Dene... run to the end of that block, but then I heard her hunky trainer dude asking to run just to the next mailbox, then walk...

and I did it11 :cool1: Got 2 miles in at 23 min!!

Doesn't he have a great voice? :thumbsup2

It feels good to have someone "worry" about you!

Yes, it does...

OK, I'm no Dene, but I have a great cable guy story: He was working on our living room TV. Then I heard him go to the backyard to work under the house. I took a shower, and DH had put the scales in the hallway:mad: . I opened the door and asked if anyone was around. No answer. I stepped out in my bra and panties to weigh and said, "Hi cable guy!" to be silly because i thought my husband was in the living room. :scared1: It was the cable guy in the living room, and DH and the kids were in the backyard. I ran back in the bathroom so embarassed. I am not lying though; we got free cable for about 6 months after that. (That was when I was younger and more fit, needless to say).

Great story!

Sorry, no current pic...
Name: Dene' Carter (Dene' is Renee, with a "D")
Age: 43... going on 20
Birthday: 3/2/64
Location: Granbury, TX (30 miles SW of Fort Worth)
Occupation: Science Teacher (currently 9th grade biology)
Personal: Widow for 15 years, DD19 is in college, starting to actually have a personal life now
Total weight to lose from starting point: uhhh, dunno 'cuz I haven' picked a goal weight yet... probably between 170-200 lbs total to lose (putting me between 130-160)
Progress so far: 77 lbs
Method: lots of exercise, lots of healthy food, lots of water, lots of support (both imaginary and new friends)
Exercise: everyday! yoga, step/cardio, elliptical, treadmill, free weights, machine weights, exercise ball, walking in the park, etc.
Best tip: Hard work breeds success... success breeds desire... desire breeds more hard work... an UPward spiral... (and... find a hunky trainer dude)

TMI but I get gas every night after dinner..... not little ones either, big loud rip roaring, lift you out of the chair ones.

Yesterday, I FINALLY got Jay to go to Yoga with me (Christy was there, too). Somebody "passed gas" during class and Jay keeps laughing and talking about it! He's convinced it was Christy... I thought it was the instructor. They were both in the right area for where the "sound" came from.

I can no longer read DIS at school (it is now blocked)... and tomorrow I'll be packing and doing a double workout at the gym. (Packing to go to San Antonio with Christy... leaving right after school Friday. Double workout to make up for not being "allowed" to do nuttin' tonight... had sclerotherapy... 6 shots in my left leg, 25 in my right) ANYWAY, please count my 5 lbs in this Friday's total.

Love, ya'll... I'll try to get some pix (of my anyway) on my trip!

Everytime I see this picture... I look at you and say OMG! You are STUNNING!!

 Aw, thanks!
