Things Disney Offers But Doesn't Advertise *Summary Added Oct 08*

This is not a private lunch with an imagineer. there are several guests, I think up to twelve. If there are 12 x 60, that's $720.

where can I find info about the pirate cruise?
from allears.net:
The Bayside Marina near the Yacht Club also offers a special Albatross Treasure Cruise for children ages 4-10 -- Children will wear bandannas as they follow clues and sail to many exotic "ports of call" around Crescent Lake and Epcot looking for treasure. During the voyage, children will hear a reading of "The Legend of the Albatross." At the final port of call, children will have lunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwich, cookie, and juice box, and will split up the "buried treasure." Held Wednesdays 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Children must be potty trained -- no pull-ups. Price is $28.17 plus tax per child. Reservations are recommended. Call 407-WDW-DINE.

Port Orleans Riverside offers the Sassagoula River Adventure Cruise. Children travel along the Sassagoula River to learn the "Jester's" way of life. Along the way they explore the Sassagoula River and finally meet the character known as the Jester. The cruise is held Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. for children ages 4-12. Cost is $28.17 plus tax per child. Call 407-WDW-PLAY to make reservations.

My kids did the one at CBR back in December, it was fantastic, they had a great time. And my kids are 5 and 4, but there were kids older (up to 10) on the cruise with them.

Wasn't there a lunch or dinner with an animal caregiver at the Animal Kingdom too?

AKL used to have a Lunch with an Animal Trainer but they no longer have it. We did it one time and really enjoyed it, so I called just a few weeks ago to try and make a ressie for an upcoming trip and was told it is no longer being offered.

My daughters love renting SeaRaycers and I had a great time kayaking near Port Orleans Riverside though my seat got thoroughly soaked.

Renting a surrey bike was the highlight of my youngest daughter's trip when she was 8.

Disney has fishing and parasailing excursions.

I'd love for my kids to do a surfing lesson at Typhoon Lagoon but it is expensive.

We just saw the "geyser" at the Wilderness Lodge for the first time.

If you enjoy the trains, the "Behind the Steam Trains" tour was awesome. Also, you arrive at the MK so early for this tour (7:30), that you can get some great pictures without anyone in them.

How early do the gates open for people to go into the park. Do you have to have reservations for breakfast in MK to get into the park at 7:30 or can anyone just get into the park, just nothing will be operating? Sorry I have never been to Disney before, and I just want to make the best of my time, and I am also aspiring photographer, so getting some wonderful pictures without many pple in them, would be a great asset to my porfolio.

On my last trip, I found out through another guest that you can get a character to come to your room and give you an hour back massage. It was a lot of fun. I chose Belle from beauty and the beast and my wife chose Goofy. It was a lot of fun, and the back rub was pretty good.

It cost $65 for the hour, plus tip. I highly recommend it.

gives a whole new meaning to 'happily ever after' i suppose...

Each day at the MK around 5:00 PM (I think it's 5PM) there is a ceremony at the flag pole at the start of Main St. just passed the train station. It is called the Flag Retreat. Each day a U.S. Military Veteran assists the WDW color guard in taking down the flag. It is a very moving ceremony as everyone around stops whatever they are doing, the MK band plays patriotic songs and our National Anthem, and the veteran of the day along with the WDW color guard salute the flag and fold it military style. If you are a veteran or traveling with a veteran, you can check in at City Hall (early in the AM) to see if you, or someone you know, can be the veteran of the day.
This is a very nice way to honor our vets! Jim

So there are more than one per day? We've looked before, but gave up rather early since we assumed there would be only one. Will try harder next time!:wizard:

I think there are 6 in total but I could be wrong. But there are definitely more than 1. Happy hunting:)

Only those people with an early tour or early ADR's at restaurants can get into the park before the official opening time. Last time we went we made early ADR's at CRT and it was wonderful having Main Street practcially to ourselves. I have some empty Main Street Pics in my trip report link below.

I'm subscribing because I love these ideas!

I haven't done it, but the WL has a "Flag Family" that goes to the roof of the building and raises the flag in the early morning. If you are staying there, you ask at the desk. I would love to do it next time we stay there.

When I first read this, I thought it was a joke! Could it really be true? How can Goofy give you a back massage with those big gloves on his hands?! And how could you keep a straight face for an entire hour of Goofy rubbing your back? I know I sure couldn't! :rotfl:

PS: Just reread my post and thought, "The Tag Fairy would have a ball with this post!"

:sunny:

Great thread!

This is advertised, but we did the Epcot Aqua Seas Tour last year, and we had a great time.

DH did the Behind the Scenes Steam Train Tour and enjoyed it too.

We are also excited to do the Pirate and Princess party this year.

This has been your gullability test for the day. Thanks for taking the time to participate.
