That's cool!:thumbsup2 We fly home Monday the 26th....I think in the afternoon. Not sure of our flight times.:confused3 Need to check.

You don't see many people using white canes, so that is usually how other Disers spot us. ;) And we get spotted often, haha. My blond DD11 uses one and I have a DD7, too, and we are usually together the 3 of us.:goodvibes

It's coming up quick now, isn't it??!:cool1:

Channing :)

Lives4 perhaps DW and I will run into your group and grannyminnie. We'll be arriving that Sunday as well and will be the ones who look tired, hopefully not grumpy, from being up at 3 am to catch our 7 am flight to MCO. :cool1:

I can't believe how fast this trip is approaching - I can't wait to be back at GF and the magic of Disney World. :wizard:

I think GF should have a special "GF Dis Fan" Suite in RPC for us GF fanatics. :goodvibes

Hi all!

Siobhan

Hi tete,

Thanks for the trip report - sorry to hear about the non upgrade "upgrade" - I am disappointed to hear that the CM's were subpar in providing a reasonable "comp" for your inconvenience the first two days of your stay - even if it were a meal at Narcoossee's or Citrico's. :sad2:

I have to guess that is why the GF gets bashed so much on the other threads I've briefly run accross on the Dis, as expectations are high when one is staying and paying a premium to spend their vacation dollars at WDW's self proclaimed "flagship". :confused3

I'll keep my fingers crossed that our second stay at the GF is as magical as our first. :wizard:

Hello all,

This is such an informative forum. I've picked up a lot of information here. Thank you. I have a question about the room type when you check reservations on-line. Our's changed from Room Type:Landscape View as of a month ago to Room Type:Standard Room - Sugar Loaf Club today.
Not to be too simple, but does that mean something? Is that just a more specific way to name a Landscape Room now that they have us in a building?

Thanks for any info,

Maz:3dglasses

Hi guys, just back from the 2nd floor at Conch Key! Had a great time, room was wonderful, could here the howling from Haunted Mansion, see WL in the front of our view, plus the main pool. Housekeeping awesome, staff friendly. Weather could have been nicer though. No lines in the parks despite it being Halloween. Any questions?

The new SL lounge pictures! Keep in mind that it was VERY crowded so the pics arent the best.... For those of you that saw the old lounge, the food is now where the CMs used to be and when you walk in the CMs are now on the left......Here is the drinks station and food offerings (two seperate areas)

Looks like you've been upgraded to concierge, you lucky dog!!!

tete, thanks for the pictures of the SL lounge. My first stay at the GF is coming up, so I've never seen the old one, but hopefully, there will be some room to sit down occasionally!!

tenbelow, sure hope you don't have to wait all day to get in your room...or us either, for that matter.

Hi, Tete and S&K's Mom! Welcome back!:goodvibes :goodvibes Thanks for posting the reviews. Sorry Tete's was kind of not the best.

Tete, thanks for the great pics of the new SL lounge! WOW WAS IT CROWDED!!!! That is incredible. I haven't even seen crowds like that at the Poly lounge. NEVER in RPC. Holy moly. Looks like a full service restaurant at dinner hour.:scared1: :scared1:

I'd love to see room pics. We had that same room once - but in February so we didn't miss the balcony at all, but I understand how you would in October.

Tenbelow and Grannie Minnie, that would be neat to see you guys around the GF on Sunday.

MickeyMaz, yep, you've been upgraded!! How did you find that out??? I have not ever received anything other than an original confirmation from WDW and sometimes not even that. Hope your SL stay is wonderful.

Lives4Disney :)

Wow! The SL lounge looks beautiful...but crowded! I think the furniture is much nicer in SL than RPC. I don't think RPC got nice tables and chairs like that...not even for the kids area.

Thanks again for the pictures.:)

Hi, Magical....you're right. The RPC furniture looks pretty much the same as before. I love the big wicker chairs they have in there, though.....I actually think THOSE are gone now:confused: & replaced with hard regular old chairs. That SL furniture is pretty and Victorian but doesn't have the cosy feel that the wicker brought to RPC IMO. Oh well. Things change -that's for sure!:goodvibes

Tete, I'd love to see the look of a "new" lodge tower room when you get a chance to post those pics.

Lives4Disney :)

Great pics Tete thanks for sharing. I cant believe they squeeze all those tables in there. It looks packed.
Where are the rooms pics and other stuff? ;)

Hi, Lives4disney, your right, the chairs do look kind of uncomfortable. At least RPC has the big comfy sofas and chairs in the lounge. I love to sit on them while sipping my wine! I can't believe they got rid of the sofas in SL to accomodate all those tables! It must get really busy in there.

Magical:)

Just curious and I hope you don't mind me asking. Trying to figure out how upgrades happen. Did you book with a discount code or with a rack rate? Thanks;)

Channing, I think MickeyMaz found out about the upgrade by going online to check on the reservation. If you check yours a few days early, you might find out you've been "pixie-dusted" too! I've been checking on mine ever since 30 days out, but it's still too early for me. MickeyMaz only has 4 days to go, I think.

Wow! Thanks. I always have problems with the Disney website so usually don't even bother to go there unless I am checking for availability and then I can't use the browser I like I have to use Explorer or I get even more weird issues, lol.:sad2:

I don't think there is much rhyme or reason to upgrades.:confused3 I think it doesn't happen as frequently at all as it seems on the boards to, either. Been to WDW a gagillion times and only upgraded once and we paid AAA discounted rate.....before I found these boards a couple yrs ago we always paid rack rate and didn't get upgraded.

Correct, Minnie. I found it by entering the reservation number on the My Trip pages. And we are three days and a wake-up. I looked about two weeks ago and it was still Landscape View. If I can trust the web site it kinda brings up other questions. I've never been in Concierge before. Is there a listing of what I can expect that's different than a standard.

Also, if it's true, the DW will love it. This is our 14 year and two week anniversery. We stayed in Sugarloaf in 1993 for the Honeymoon. I don't remember it being concerige back then though.

Thanks for the info,

Maz:3dglasses
