Girls Only Trip (old planning thread, see link to new one in 1st post)

:rotfl2: Jane, you never go to the Strip and when you finally do you pick a super hot, super busy Saturday to do it?? :scared1:
You're cracking me up. Hope you had fun!

Honestly, it wasn't bad on the Strip today--either temperature wise or crowd wise!

We ended up going straight from Gymboree so we were on the Strip by about 11:30. I dropped some jewelry off at Tiffany to get cleaned, which takes 3 hours. So we walked out to Serendipity 3 and were seated almost immediately. We chose to sit outside and were on the side closer to the fountains rather than the front closer to the street. Tt was gorgeous outside, not too hot and provided some fun people watching, although the seats on the front part of the patio definitely were better for that particular sport.

I ordered the Las Vegas Strips (chicken strips rolled in panko and red tortilla chip crumbs) and a side of waffle fries. Dave had the One and Only Las Vegas Buffet New York Strip Steak Sandwich (set up so that there are 5 different countries/cuisines/preparations down the length of the sandwich) and sweet potato fries. For dessert I had a double frrrozen hot chocolate (the double part is chocolate haagen dazs ice cream is mixed in to make it creamier as the original is more icy than creamy) and Dave had the fried oreo sundae--6 oreos dipped in cereal (corn flakes i think) then deep fried & then set up surrounding a huge hot fudge cookies and cream sundae. The portions were quite large and neither of us finished our entrees to leave room for dessert, and even then we didn't come even close to finishing. Dave's sundae seriously could have fed at least 3 people.

The only down side to lunch was the service--our waitress was pretty out there and certainly not on top of things. I had to ask to get my water refilled after it sat empty for nearly 10 minutes with no sign of our waitress. She also seemed to get confused when taking our dessert order. All in all the meal took 2 hours, which was fine as we had time to kill, but I definitely did not expect what seems to be a quick service restaurant (they have a take out window for god's sakes) to take as long as it did. Ty was exceptionally well behaved and I was so, so thankful for that as he rightfully could have had a meltdown at any time given that it was his usual naptime!

After lunch we went to FAO Schwartz and then down to the aquarium close to the Cheesecake Factory before swinging back to Tiffany to reclaim my much cleaner and sparklier treasure. By then it was nearly 3:00, so we headed back to the car and home for naptime. Ty was asleep before we even got out of the parking garage and I was right behind him. Got home around 3:30 and then proceeded to take a nearly 3 hour nap! Ty woke up around 6:20 and woke me up in the process. I seriously can't remember the last time I took such a long nap. Now Dave is off attending the graduation ceremonies for the college he works at & Ty and I are watching Lilo & Stitch. Dave should be home just in time to get Ty off to bed and then perhaps he and I will watch a movie.

All in all, a great day!

Oh, and despite the fact that I don't really like Tinkerbelle that much, I like the second shirt better than the first. But, Heather's design is still my favorite!!!

:lmao: The DIS girls go Goth!!!!!!! :sad2:
See, there ya go!

I'm real pale skinned too, the goth would work for me! :rotfl:
We can start a trend. ;)

I've been really pale with dark hair all my life. Goth is HOT :thumbsup2
::yes::

I was planning on getting through graduation tomorrow then doing a couple 1/2 hand sketched 1/2 digitally animated ideas of my own! :cool1:
Sounds good!

I just had a wonderful surprise phone call!!!!! (((((((Heather))))))) thanx for exchanging information with me......it made my day!!!!!!! It's nice to know that we're somewhat in the same boat & hopefully we can help each other out!!! :flower3:
AWww, that's great. Heather is a sweetheart.

This coming from the one who LIKES it to be over 90! I forgot that part. :rotfl2:

Sounds like Serendipity was good! The girls and I made the Frozen Hot Chocolate at home tonight. I did notice it was rather icy. I think I'd like the double as I like things creamy.

I was told by a friend once never to go to a new restaurant until after the first month when all the wait staff is trained properly and the kinks were all worked out. That place is brand new so I'm not surprised the service was slow. Hopefully before too long they'll get it together and get rid of the ones who suck. ;)

Night ladies!! I hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow.

And to all the mom's out there:

I'm so glad I logged on tonight! You all are great for my ego, and I really needed the pick me up today. I actually owe that to Becci. So big hugs to Becci for listening to me, and helping me out this afternoon! We are having a really hard time deciding what to do as far as moving goes. We have time, and that's good because at this rate it's going to take up months to decide! :rotfl: I have literally changed my mind everyday. Then, I saw Laurie's post, and knew that we needed to talk, it seemed that we were dealing with similar issues, and who couldn't use having someone that kind of understands your frustration!?!

Oh, and I'll have to try adding ice cream to the frozen hot chocolate. I have the mix from Williams Sonoma but it is like a chocolate slushy, I probably would like it better creamier also. :thumbsup2

So, I was completely unproductive today, and am still not in the bad girl club. Well, tommorrow is another day. *sigh*

Heather - you are too sweet! I know how frustrating this is for you. I just sent you a message on fb, btw. :thumbsup2

Ladies - sorry I have been MIA. It is late and I don't have time to read back right now. I was caught up until this evening but then my dh had a poker party at the house tonight and I am behind again.

I did see the t-shirt designs. Liked them both - probably the second one the best.:thumbsup2

Hope to get on the DIS more tomorrow. But tomorrow is going to be the beginning of a crazy:eek: week! We are getting just under 1200 sq ft of new floors put in our house (living room, dining room, hallway, Jack's bedroom, and master bedroom/bathroom and closet). They are coming out on Monday to tear out the carpet :-)woohoo:) and make sure the floors are level. They will start installing the laminate on Thursday. So we have alot of furniture to move around.
To make it even more confusing my parents are leaving on Tuesday for a well deserved vacation. My mom helps me daily with my kids so she will be greatly missed. (Yes - I know how lucky I am!) She picks up my older two from school daily and helps them with their homework. But no help for two weeks. I pray I don't lose my sanity. But my dh and I are going away (alone!) on memorial day weekend so I just need to get through the next 2 weeks!
Talk with you all later!
Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Good Morning, my friends! :goodvibes

I had multiple quotes over the 4 pages I missed, but hit the wrong icon and lost it all. :sad2:

I was thinking it might be difficult for some newbies to keep up with the chatter. I've been posting pretty much much a few times a day(we were out all day yesterday), but it can hard to keep up and I feel bad when I miss several pages and cannot reply personally to everyone. I so enjoy this thread and each of you...and take each concern into my heart.

Sooo, am hoping yesterday was a good day!! It was a challenge for us - on Monday our Jackie (Maltese) had a tumor removed from her foot and several growths from other areas and yesterday presented some challenges so back to our fabulous Vet. All will be well in a few days.

Today we leave on our Mother's Day trip to Charleston!! :yay: We were out all day yesterday doing errands, got my haircut etc. Today we pack up the SUV - one 8 mo, 2 little doglets, 2 adults and all the gear...my friend told me she could not look forward to a trip with a baby and 2 dogs, but we're going to have a great time!

May not be able to check in for a few days - we'll be home late Wednesday.

I wish each of you a very Happy Mother's Day filled with unexpected surprises and blessings! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes
 Christine

p.s. LOVE the T-Shirt designs - I prefer the first - like the cute Mickey & Minnie Pirates. Never wear black as I look worse than words could possibly describe and would scare a small child:scared1:. Maybe we could have a choice of the two and wear pink or black? Of course, I'll go along with whatever the group decides. Or pink under the black would be great too. :thumbsup2

I read something about doing the train together - if that was about our trip, I would absolutely love to do the train together. ::yes::

Ok--so the results were posted last night!

There were 136 teams in Basic (the division we all were in) and here is how our teams did:

Dis Divas (Mary Jo, Lesley, Chris and Kelly) came in 41st with a score of 384 points.

The Lost Girlz (Wendy, Michelle, Dawn and Cheryl) came in 81st with a score of 300.

Tink's Treasurehunters (Linda, Bree, Amy and Stacie) came in 119th with a score of 214.

Maximum score was 570 points!

Woohoo--I think we all did great!

You all did great. Congrats!

I still have to catch up, but I wanted to post right away and say something to cheer Wendy up and brighten anyone else's day! First of all, I hope you and your mom are feeling better today from your little fender bender. Last night when I picked up my 2 1/2 year old niece to squeeze her, she hugged my neck and saw the necklace you gave me and saw the Mickey head. Her eyes lit up and she said, "OOOOOH EEEIIIS MeeCKEY MOUSE!" and cupped her hand over her mouth and called "Oh Toodles!" and swayed back and forth. That's her favorite show!

I went to a fashion show at my church today where my oldest niece, brother, and dad modeled clothes from local vendors to raise money for the church. They did raffles and tons of door prizes. Guess what? I won a $25 gift card to Stone Creek (its a restaurant, I don't know if it's a chain but its really good... I gave it to my parents though) but I never win anything! :cool1:

I hope everyone is having a magical day :wizard: I'll periodically catch up and do the bulk of it after I go back to my parents house and have big girl Disney movie night with Ellie. We're watching Enchanted! I need to soak up my princess while I have her around princess:

Congrats! I'm the same way, I don't win things like that. My oldest daughter, Selena has great luck though, she wins frequently and big stuff too, at carnivals, fairs, school raffles...

And if you're not buying that, then let's just say my whip scared them all off. You can blame it on me. :rotfl2:

:rotfl2:

insert drooling smilie here....those desserts sound amazing

Hi girls--just checking in to my favorite Moms to wish them a great Mother's Day! I can't begin to tell you how much I admire all of you--and say a special prayer for those of you who are juggling kids, jobs and school! Mothering is hard work!

Last night was really fun! I got to the GCH about 8 p.m. and the storytelling in the lobby was just finishing. I had a feeling and sure enough Jen and her Nicholas were there (he's 4). Afterwards we sat in the lobby for a few minutes waiting for her DH and other son to come back. In the meantime, Donna arrived and just about then Jen's family came back so Donna and I hightailed it to the bar while Jen went to get her family settled.

We were heading to a table when a lovely lady came up to me and said "Are you Cheryl?" It was Vicki (CoMickey). She and Mr. CA (aka Bob) already had a table so we headed over there. The girls ordered a bottle of Magicale and four glasses (one for Jen) and Bob ordered some other type of red wine. Everyone LOVED the Magicale!!! A few minutes later Jen arrived, then Linda, her DH Chris and DD Bree. They ordered drinks and we chatted and chatted and before you knew it it was 10:15!! Chris had left a few minutes earlier and then Linda and Bree were tired (they are getting up for MM today) and so was I. Vicki and Bob stayed behind to finish their wine and Donna and I walked Jen to the elevator and then Donna and I stood out front for about 20 minutes chatting more! Finally got home about 11:10. Now up and about ready to jump in the shower to take my Mom to Sweet Sunday at DCA! Talk to you all later!

Steph~ Safe travels :wizard:.

Cheryl~ Sounds like you all had a great time last night :woohoo:. Enjoy some more Magicale today

To all the mothers~ Happy Mother's Day :flower3:.

To everyone else~ Good Morning ;).

I went on strike yesterday as a mother . My 2 older kids were really being unhelpful & pains in the rear so I went on strike. I told them if they wanted clean clothes for the week, they had to do their own laundry and if they were hungry, to make their own food. They protested for awhile, but eventually gave in.

Then my DD asked me to help her with a school project. Nope I'm on strike & you're old enough to do it yourself. She threw a small fit and realized I really wasn't going to help her. So she started it on her own.

I really felt liberated and it was so nice only having to do 2 loads of laundry (the babies & towels).

Happy Mother's Day to each and every one of you! I hope you all enjoy your day. Ayden and I are going to the zoo and out to lunch together.

I hope all of your Mothers' Days are going better than mine!

I woke up with about 2 inches of water hovering over my carpet. Yay! :scared: It turns out the apartment above us had a toilet issues, so guess what, I'm living in 'clean' toilet water. So, now I have lots of cleaning ahead of me, lotsw of toys to clean and steralize, lots of books to throw away....:sad2:, and lots of scrubbing to do. They are sending out a company to clean up the water, but the maintenance man didn't see the humor when I asked him if he was sending a maid to help clean up all the toys and scrub the walls, and everything else. I guess he thought I was joking? :confused3 I'm hoping the carpet cleans and dries really well, I'm not living with moldy carpet.

Happy Mother's Day to me!

I'm off to find something to eat now...

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and moms at heart!

Chery and gang--it sounds like you all had a very nice evening!

Heather--I hope your day gets better!

Morning ladies!!!

Christine, enjoy your vacation! See you Wednesday.

Becci, good luck without your mom! Hang in there.

Cheryl, sounds like y'all had a nice meet.

Steph, safe travels!

Janelle, have fun at the zoo!

Heather, I am so sorry about the mess in the apartment! Ugh. If I lived closer I'd totally be over to help you out, then take you for a drink afterward. Sure, you don't wanna move to Vegas??

Everyone else have a wonderful day. We've already enjoyed a yummy breakfast and lots of homemade crafts and cards. Going out to lunch later on. :)
