What about us 40ish guys?

Okay, so this might be OT....but, did anyone else magically lose the ability to read small print as soon as they turned 40?

I turned 40 this year, started noticing that I have to pull stuff farther away to be able to read it. The eye doctor said I need progressive lenses....WTH??

Count me in your group! It was the weirdest thing, almost overnight I went from perfect vision, no glasses, to my current state. If I don't have my glasses I can't see anything closer than 3 feet in front of me. :mad:Distance vision is still intact.

I've worn glasses since the 7th grade (switched to contacts in college) and recently noticed that I now need a bigger monitor at work! What's that all about?? One minute I'm threading needles without issue and now the boss needs to order me a new monitor! Yikes!!

I blame it on my lazy eyes... been wearing glasses since I was 4... not 40...:lmao: glad you made it here.. you survived TT running into you :rotfl2:

Over 40. Under 50 (for now ;)). Trips to Disney have gone from 3 - 4 times a year to one -sometimes two. My favorite Disney pal (my grandson) is in 4th grade now and his parents have this crazy idea that school is more important than Disney. :confused3 Where did I go wrong?????? But I love them anyway. Always looking for new people to meet and hang with at the mothership.

:thumbsup2Belle , I am running into the same thing, I like to take my great niece with me and her Mom will no longer allow it during the school year...

Yes, we all have one thing in common, that dreaded 40ish curse! At 45 I thought I was going blind. went to the optometrist and he laughed and told me I should be thankful, that it hits most people right around 40.

:confused3:confused3 So tell me did any of us think WE would ever be sounding like our parents???????:rotfl: I still feel 21, so what in the world happened?????????????????? :sad1:

My opthamologist told me that within the next 3-5 years I will need reading glasses! I am in total denial about that one!

Our parents? I still remember when the big "math thing" to do was to figure out how old you'd be in the year 2000. We thought THAT age was ancient and decrepit and we'd be dead long before................our 30's. :lmao:

My guy is not a fan of Disney but I plan on converting him--although he thinks I'll convert to a Vegas fan before he ever converts to Disney. Between the two playgrounds (WDW and Vegas) I don't think we'll ever grow "old".

Get him involved in dismeets and let him see all the adult fun he can have at Disney and he will be converted ....quickly

I turn 42 11/04 and have never worn glasses.....until 3 weeks ago, dangit and then the dr had the gall to ask me if I wanted the lines or not...the lines??..."Yeah" he says "You need BIFOCALS". Oh hell NO I don't want the lines...they just need to look like reading glasses....that I wear 24/7....yeah that's the ticket!! But I did get the Vera Bradley frames and they are sooooo cute!!

Okay, since I needed "bifocals" (i.e.; progressives because I need the "middle" distance), I have purchased "designer" frames so I can brag. My current frames are Tommy Hilfiger. Before that it was Donna Karan. I now ALWAYS purchase designer prescription sunglasses. Mossimo last year, this year I suddenly can't remember but feel no need to run upstairs to find out. I do that to make getting "old" acceptable.

I decided to get prescription sunglasses last year and got Oakely frames with polarized lenses. I have to say I look great in them. the only problem is that I can only wear them when it's really sunny and I don't have to go inside, then I have to switch my regular glasses. eh, the price you have to pay to look good...

In Florida, transitions don't get it all the time so a pair of prescription sunglasses is needed.

was gonna do that but it didn't look right with the frames. I don't wear them very often but when I do they look great. I'll live.it doesn't kill me to switch glasses, I only have to do it when I go inside.

My Hilfigers are progressives. . .however, I prefer really dark and polarized lenses when out in the sunlight (Cali girl now in Fla). Hence the prescription sunglasses. Also, transitions don't get dark in the car. The car windshield is polarized and UV rated. Won't allow for darkening of transitions lenses.

I'm glad that I am not the only one who suddenly became blind overnight. Why did no one tell me this would happen? Where was the warning label?!?

I like the way you think. I have the prescription, but haven't shopped for glasses yet. Hopefully, I will find something that looks nice. I hate wearing glasses because my eyelashes swish the inside like windshield wipers. And contacts dry my eyes out. Guess I'm gonna have to suck it up and find some glasses. That, or wander around like Mr. McGoo.

ok, here's one for you all...what was the most spontaneous thing you've ever done?

Got married.

(I should mention this was also the dumbest thing I've ever done.)

Ok, trivia time:

Q: Anyone know the shortest sentence in the English language?

A: I am.

Q: Anyone know the Longest sentence in the English language?

A: I do.

:lmao: :dance3:
