The Trip Is On!!! Trip report starts on pg. 39

Yeah, I was hoping more people would be interested in it. Oh well.

It'll catch on. It's still new. Sometimes it takes certain threads a while to catch fire. Given how popular Duffy seems to be - and the fact that there are holiday versions of him, like the St, Patrick's Day Duffy - I can see more people jumping into the Duffy craze very soon!

We will just baby it for a little while and mention it whenever we see a Duffy pic in a TR and keep bumping it until people know it is there. I wish we had our Duffy now so that I could post more pics to keep it moving. Somewhere...I think on my old computer or maybe on a disc somewhere we have pics my DH took when he was an over the road truck driver of a stuffed Monkey Colton used to send to keep him company...he traveled all over the country and took pics to e-mail colton where they were every night.

What a sweet idea to take the pictures for Colton when he was on the road. And what a great way to share something together.

I also heard something about Mickey's & Duffy's m&g lines at DCA being combined...so everyone in Mickey's line will learn about Duffy.

Maybe we need to give the thread a catchy name like Duffys, Stuffies & huggable friends? Or Follow that bear...Duffy's adventures in wonderland....Who's that bear? It's Duffy!....

Does anyone have a copy of the story from the signs at his M&G maybe we could put that in the first post.

I know that there are people that have fallen in love with him just from the photos.

I have to admit - I'm one of the ones who doesn't 'get' the whole Duffy phenomenon because he was just kind of sprung on DCA without any real intro. No movies, no TV series, nothing. It was just sort of like, "Well, the Japanese folks love Duffy, here's his back story, and you guys should love him too." And there he was. Other than the Mickey icons on his paws and face and the cute little outfits, he doesn't look that much different from other cute bears to me.

Also, I would never carry a Duffy around with me because I am simply too klutzy, and I carry so much stuff with me to begin with that it would just annoy me to have to carry around an extra thing. Duffy would probably end up damaged, lost or tossed overboard in POTC by the end of the day!:rotfl2: I wouldn't mind owning a Duffy, however - I still have my 'famous' stuffed animals like an Ewok, Gizmo from "Gremlins," a California Raisin, that annoying Snuggle bear, a Sesame Street character or two, and of course, the standard Snoopy, Mickey and Pooh. I certainly would gladly welcome Duffy into the 'family,' but I just would never carry him with me.

BUT, I have greatly come to appreciate all of the photos with Duffy around DLR and in various other locales! I think those are so clever and cute. And the thing is, just when I think I've seen every possible place that Duffy can be posed and that are no new places left to put him (which is what I thought after Jasmine's and Jessica's photos), you came up with all new material and places to put Duffy!!:rotfl2:

So it's sort of like the Quest idea, which is to find interesting 'things' or subjects around DLR that may be off the beaten track. With Duffy, you are seeking out interesting spots for him, and it's kind of a challenge to find places for him that have not already been done!

There was a recent thread about not 'getting' the whole Duffy thing - and there were a bunch of Duffy fans in that thread, a couple of whom posted photos. Maybe I can dig up that thread and post a link to yours, so the Duffy fans who shared their pictures can share them with you as well?

Cool find that thread!

I am with you on that not carrying Duffy around all day though...I (well mostly DH) carry enough stuff in the DL backpack with the camera & video camera and sunscreen snacks & other things we can't do without. Colton wants one from seing the pics on the before mentioned TRs so we agreed if he got one he had to carry it. My husband just laughed...that will last 30 minutes then we will be carrying him. But Colton just promptly hit up Grandma to make him a backpack/snuggly that Duffy can ride in and can be used on his back or on his tummy for rides. So hopefully I don't end up carrying him. And BTW my 17" Snuggle bear is standing in for duffy so the backpack will hopefully be the right size. I love that bear!

I don't have it but I know someone who might. I will ask Stephanie.

I like the name Duffy's, Stuffie's and huggable friends. I may change it later.

Totally stole it from a TV commercial where the Dad was a pilot LOL but it was alot of fun!

It was a great thing to steal!!

Oh man I'd missed all of that! I'm sorry she's been so sick, and glad she's out of the hospital!

Thanks Molly. She feels much better than she did.

I have to admit Duffy rode in my backpack a lot of the time. His head and shoulders hung out and he looked around as he went through the park. I am terrible at carrying things myself.

Oh please find that thread.

I bought myself a light weight cinching backpack at the parks because I hate carrying things. It worked great.

I heard elsewhere that Sherry's computer was giving her grief so I found the thread she was talking about and another one and added a link to your Duffy photos & a note.

Oh cool!! Thank you!! I hope they join. And it isn't just my thread. It is everyones!!

I really need to get back to my trip report. Unfortunately real life has taken affect of my life. I hope to get back to it tomorrow.

Sorry I was away from this for so long.

It was time to see Small World. I tend to only ride this once a trip for fear of brain meltdown.

Love your small world

Looks so big and cool from outside :goodvibes
