My sisters family just heard a couples weeks ago that they got tickets for the middle of August. Maybe they have not processed your request yet?
We are the end of August and have not heard anything yet. I email every month.

Still no update for me when I emailed again today. I had put the request in several months ago (12/10/2010), the local office submitted it at the six-month mark (3/24/2011), and I followed-up when I knew you had received your confirmation for that day. Still no reply, so I emailed my contact again at our local congressman's office. This was today's reply (now less than five months out):
"The NASA liaison checked and said he hasnt heard anything yet but that This could have something to do with the order and timing in which the requests were submitted both by them to you, from you to me, and from me to the Kennedy Space Center. He also told me to check back any time so I will check in again in a few weeks if we still havent heard anything. Have a good weekend."
I still have my fingers crossed for you guys. I don't understand the system either as we have requested them before and been told none were available while others received them!!Birkner's request is for Sept 24 and she received her confirmation on April 12. My request is also for the same date of Sept 24, submitted Dec 10, and they forwarded it on at 6-months prior (March 24) but no confirmation yet as of today. Not sure how they do it - I just assumed they went in order based on other posts on this thread... but not sure how people across the country can submit for the same exact date six months in advance like I did... and they confirm one but not the other. We'll see. We have over 4.5 more months...

Wow, that would stink! She did let me know she was out of the office the week of March 24, so the official submittal date was March 28 when she forwarded it on. (Four days shy of six months in advance). In her three years of working at that office, this is her first Kennedy Space Center request, so she has been learning about it and keeping me updated on what her NASA person replies. You would think at the national level there is some sort of defined process for issuing the confirmations! Our local folks can only do the requests, so it's all up to the national folks handling the confirmations.
We were there in summer 2009, but after seeing the admission prices, my husband did not want to pay that much, so we just took a picture in front of the rockets (in the background) and drove back to Orlando. Hoping it works out this time, but if not, we'll have a Plan B in place.
OK I have a question for anyone who has used these free tickets in the past. We asked for ours months ago and received a confirmation for our free tickets. The problem is that the date we are picking them up is now a snow make up day for teachers that is a required workday. I had no way of knowing our trip would be delayed one day due to a make up required workday. Has anyone had any luck with picking up the tickets a day late? I have called and been told it won't be a problem but frankly I did not trust the word of the guy I spoke with....he seemed a little unsure of what I was even talking about. Anyone have this type situation. Only me would actually get the free ticket confirmation email and then possibly be unable to use them!
It was my understanding that they MUST be used that day The I received email was quite specific stating "If constituents are unable to attend on scheduled day, please contact me to cancel this request." If I were you I would get it in writing if you think you might have to change.
Yes that is exactly what my email stated and why I was worried about the response I got. I think getting it in writing is a great idea, though. I will call back during regular hours and see if they will email me this in writing...thanks for the great idea.
I emailed Fred Upton again after no response of any kind a month ago. I really hope this works out and we can go before our cruise in October. DD is a space nut, we have seen 2 launches from Disney but I would love to take her there for the day.
I live in NY and was emailed that they are unaware of this program and was asked if I could let them know how to et me the tickets. Does anyone know how they do that?
