Orlando Smackdown: Dis vs. Uni. Ch.16 Japan Hates me, Just Hates me 7-13

So I have to tell you guys about an experience we had recently. It's most definitely up there in the "could have been a Nebo" experience.

Let me set the stage for you my friends. Down here in the south, SC to be precise, we have been drowning in rain....over 21 inches since June 1st. Now to give you a true frame of reference, there have been multiple years where the entire annual rainfall has been less than 21 inches here. I kid you not, a co-worker showed me a picture yesterday of his front lawn, now resembling a lake, with a number of ducks swimming in it. He had a audio of what his yard sounds like at night and there were so many frog sounds, I thought for a minute we were in the swamp.

Anyway, what often comes with rain in the summer? Why thunder and lightning. Up until last Monday, I had never had a close encounter with lightning, but notice that phrase "up until"? The kids and I had just gotten home for the evening. The kids were in a play tent watching a video, I was walking to change Tinkerbuzz when I heard a tremendously loud POP, followed by a boom and white flash and the doorbell chime cover literally fell at my feet, smoking scorch marks and all. The kids came flying out of the tent, scared as could be, the baby surprisingly never cried or whimpered.

What happened? Well, lightning hit a tree about fifty feet from the house, traveled along the roots, throwing up dirt and grass and creating a pretty impressive trench. It reached the back steps and traveled up my wrought iron railings to hit the doorbell outside which was blown to smithereens, traveled along the doorbell wiring up in the attic, completely fraying it, and blasting out the doorbell chime cover. The other railing led to an outlet which(the cover) was obliterated into tiny shards. The force cracked the sheet rock and pushed out the vinyl siding on the outside of my sun room. We lost phone, internet, TV, and a good bit of technical equipment IT geared DH had in use. We were lucky no one was hurt.

So what has the Buzz family been up to? Inventorying for insurance and let me tell you, that has been fun with a capital F!!! :rolleyes2

Nebo, I love the Teppan Edo chapter!! I laughed until I cried tears of laughter. I sure wish I could have been a fly on the wall.....in a flame retardant suit of course! ;)

:scared1: Holy smokes! Glad to hear no one was hurt though!

Thanks Pkondz and Jill!

It was and has been such a surreal experience. The funny thing is, and I am being completely serious, when the doorbell chime box fell at my feet, I immediately thought, "Wow, I'm having a Nebo experience"!

Besides,,, whenf I use the pronoun "I", when describing something really stupid I did, well, it can get embarrassing, to even me. However, if I say "Nebo" it's more disconnected, and I can sit here and write about it thinking, "Boy, this Nebo dude is a real idiot!"

Lisa agrees with this logic :rolleyes1

Never, EVER, tell a Japanese chef somebody else has a bigger Volacano then he has! Remember who's holding the knives!

And those knives are big too! Leave the man's volcano alone

C'mon,,, Nebo,,,, Embarrassed?

Nope, not gonna happen :cool2:

Man, she really needs a concealed carry permit for those elbows of hers!

Or, she needs a medal of accuracy ::yes::

The menu and the grill had become one with nature, you could almost hear them going "Ommmm".

:scared1: and :lmao:, all at the same time. Huh.

I'm glad your visit was fun, well besides all the plastic tomfoolery LOL :goodvibes

Sorry for being AWOL lately, stuff happens.

Funny chapter, Nebo, great to see you back in form.

Ponzi, wave south this weekend, cause I'm leaving on a jetplane....:moped::beach:

Well, no plane or mountain smilies on here, dang, but heading up to Montana to visit our son and spend a few days at Glacier Nat'l park, where I plan to partake of no outdoor adventures but hope to spend some time at the spa at my hotel and hang out at the pool bar.

I feel for DH waking me up in 4 hours, hehehehe

Horrible thought: what if there is no pool bar? I guess at least they will have a bar, right? They must if they have a spa?

Gar, so hot up here,,, wanted to do some call outs,,, but too too hot,,, supposed to get better to morrow. But have fuh seeing your son up near Ponzi Land Marita. And don'tforget to feed the bears, t will make them come right up to you as you feed them. But you dun't ever, ever want to run out of food while they are there, even though you say you areout or food to feed them,,,,,,, welll,,,,they don'tsee it that way. I once had a boa feel the same way after it finished off the last rat I had,,, only it was still hungry.
And then our cat got a little hit too close,,,,,,,,,,,,

I had to throw in my granddaughter as a decoy to get the cat safely back.
no, she didn't think it wsa funny either.

I'm not surprised. Cats are not known for their sense of humour.

I thought I missed so much, but technically I didn't,
But I missed the. Big Ouch.
Wow, glad you are doing better.

Nebo-great update glad you are back in good form.

Diane, yours made me sad, knowing we missed each other the next day.
No wonder you didn't answer your phone, plus I didn't know you didn't text.
Sorry.
You are a brave women sleeping outside.

I want to thank you guys too for the great review you did in one of your TR's, when you stayed at Coronado Springs. We loved it there and we had our rental and we were always at our destination within 5 minutes.

happy birthday to heather.. aka thumper man's wife!!!!:hippie::yay::cheer2::grouphug::dance3:

(now how can I do smilies that would be good enough for the "smilie queen"?)

Do you know, they have these new fangled boxes that you put in a window, plug them in and they blow cold air into the house!!!
Didn't we discuss this last summer, mister? :(

the association doesn't allow window air conditioners.

this is the 2nd time we've had a house built and said "the builder way overcharges for central air. we'll find a better deal ourselves." and then never do. cause we really aren't air conditioner people.. only when it gets REALLY hot. which is like 1 week a year, maybe 2.
we look at the cost and think "hhhmmm. central air...disney...central air.. another trip..." guess which wins out every time?
:rotfl:

yeah I am technologically impaired! sorry we missed you. I read your text and figured you would be calling if you were able to meet up. but I was semi comatose the following day!

so glad you folks enjoyed coronado. we really like it there. very pretty. but it can be a long walk the last trip we lucked out with theat room right by the main pool and bus stop. and very short walk to the ranchos quiet pool (even tho we were in cabanas) pepper market was a bit longer, though.

we think the casitas are SO pretty!!! but it's quite a walk to the main pool. and they close the quiet pool bathrooms in the evening (when the health club closes!) if you go for a night swim who wants to trudge up elevators to your room in your wet suit?
