I don't typically shell out my $$$ for the huge Lego sets, but this one.....I might have to.

It'd go great with all the Disney Minifigures they just came out with as well.

I feel like this set should have had a Goofy and Pluto in order to complete the Fab Five. Maybe they'll show up in another Disney minifig series someday.

It's not "limited release"...lego doesn't do that...they'll resupply for 1-2 years.

$350 sets are hard to move too...it's not exactly a gift for a birthday party...

It will be around awhile.

I might preorder it.

It may not make anyone feel better about the price, but that's only 8.5 cents per piece. That's actually a good value for Lego.

Try finding some of the Star Wars sets from a few years back. They don't always re-run stuff. This one will disappear due to it's theme.

That's not what I'm saying...

They will discontinue the set after awhile and it may not come back...but it won't sell out immediately and then be unavailable

You have to be a Disney nut, a lego nut...AND being willing to shell out $350...

That's a hard coctail to mix even for disneyana...

And lego won't tell you "sorry...were out of stock" for a significant time.

They'll give you an eta on restocking...that's how they roll

They are the world's most recognizable brand in many business surveys...you don't get to that by not giving the people what they want.

I'm not disputing the Disney demand, the lego fans, or the resale market...

I'm saying that this is unlikely to become an 85 cabbage patch doll

If you want it...by all means order it. It's a safe bet.

But that example you gave: the star destroyers...were available at the lego stores for YEARS...at least the first/best UCS one was. But that was 15 years ago and it's now long gone to the skeevy world of eBay.

Just like the sandcrawler, the Slave I, the ewok village wnd until very recently the nearly 10 year old Death Star are/were in stock at the Lego store 3 miles from me...

I'm not saying camp out at downtown Disney on 8/31...nor am I saying stroll into the mall of America and pick it up on 12/24...

I would expect the response to be somewhere in the middle.

Reality is this set could last anywhere from a few months to 5 years. It's also likely that if you don't get this initially, you might not be able to get it until weeks or months later. A similar situation happened with other similar sets, like the recent Batman Tumbler. Lego has a track record of undershooting demand for these kinds of big one-shots, then catching up later. I doubt you'll not be able to pick one up eventually, as it's not a limited edition or anything.

Being an exclusive, it won't be available in normal retailers (Amazon, Target, etc.) for a while, if at all, but you will be able to get it from Lego directly and apparently Disney Stores too.

This will be officially available September 1st, but likely this will be available early (middle August) for Lego VIP members (anyone can join).

From my view, if you want it, get it whenever you can. This thing will be ridiculous on the aftermarket.

I would say forgoe the discount and look into something called "amazon"

Amazon will mark this up due to demand. It'll be cheapest direct through Lego most likely.

Amazon always marks up Legos higher for some reason. Only time I can think that they ever went below list price were the dimensions figures
