2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Still no 5K pics?
I got mine on the afternoon of the 5K. Are you inputting the bib number correctly and then scrolling all the way to the bottom of the RunDisney/ESPN section of your pictures? The older ones are on the top and the most recent ones are on the bottom.

Just read that 238 runners were swept at the half and 123 at the 10K...not many at all!
That is awesome! Congratulations to all the runners!
Maybe the numbers seems low because the running fad is dying down and you now have the people who are actually training and doing their best to complete the distances they signed up for?

Probably not entering it correctly. Please remind me!

Thank you! Found my error!
Ariel484 saves the day!! Speaking of which, does anyone know what the W&D Half route will be? I only ask because usually Ariel484 knows all. Last year it did the WWoS start with finish at Epcot and it wasn't my favorite in terms of logistics. It is easier to start and end in one location.

No idea. the course description just says "through Walt Disney World." I guess I'd assume it'll be the same until you see otherwise. :confused3

I'm surprised the numbers are so low for sweeping, but it makes me so excited to hear that people gave it their all :D

In the FB groups, posts were always about the balloon ladies and being nervous about being swept. I hope those ladies made it to the finish line.

Huh- I wonder what prompted that decision? Presumably if they wanted smaller groups they could have just made corrals smaller when they designed the corrall placements (and it sounds like that ALSO happened) but dividing a corrall into bits seems to imply the decision was made after corrals were assigned? Or maybe they thought if they used smaller corrals they would run out of letters!

They did this at the Paris race last year and someone in my corral said it's common for European races. I don't think they did it any of the races in the state before that (at least they didn't in my corrals), but I think it worked out really well. It's an easy way to spread people out a little more without having to have even more corrals.

But if that guy who starts dead last and counts his "kills" (people, mainly women of course, he passes) posts there again I WILL comment. I saw him and his shirt in the line for beer and there were several of us (strangers) talking about how offensive that is.

That guy sounds like an [word I'm probably not allowed to use on Dis...]. There are people that will do that for charity, which doesn't bother me at all. I remember reading about a woman doing (I think) RnR Las Vegas who started last and raised $1 for every person she passed. But there's no reason to be such a jerk about it.

I'm really shocked by those numbers, but pleasantly so.

Also shocked that the whiners on the Factbook page were right that about a hundred people got swept during the 10K, lol! They thought it was high. I couldn't believe such a low number.

I was one of swept for half runners but I probably would have pulled self anyway. I was having bad day all the way around.

That's the beauty of being 15. You started and finished -- way better than I who did not start at all, lol.

Oh I couldn't have done it at 15, either. I ran with my big dog, but not huge distances, and only fast in short bits. :)

This isnt a guy dressed in black who shoves his arm in front of peoples faces is it?? I saw a man do this to a woman in front of me and I originally thought he was joking but she looked furious and then ran in front of him and did the same thing back to him!!

I don't know about that. That would be awful.

It is fun seeing the characters along the course. While not in the character category, my favorite were the Japanese drummers. I can't remember where they were, but remember lagging a bit until hearing them and picking up my pace to match their rhythm.

I love taiko drumming! At Rock&Roll Seattle there's a group that positions themselves under a bridge and it feels like you can hear them half a mile away and after you've passed them. :)

I'm sorry Fire.

I'm sorry Fire.

It's ok. I got out there, I did my best, I had fun. It was my first half and I made it further than I had ever done in race prior, I got princess butt up 3 days in a row at crack of dawn, was dealing with sickness amongst self, Hubs, Friend. I'm proud of myself and am determined next time I will go further than I did this time.

I didn't stop for any characters - but still enjoyed seeing them (took my mind off running for a bit!). I really loved the drummers at TTC and the choir (I fought back tears actually at that point).

Could you ride the carousel at MK? I saw it running but no riders....and I was curious!

Also, I think I might be kind of hooked. I really really want to try a race that goes through AK.

I'm not sure about the carousel, but I want to say no. I feel like their rule of thumb is that you can ride rides during regular park hours only - during the marathon, for example, the MK is early and they'll have the Teacups going, carousel and I think even the Mine Train, but no one rides since it's about 7AM. The first ride available is Everest - most people are passing through right as AK opens and can hop on to ride.

I feel like it's likely an issue of not having the rides fully staffed since the parks aren't technically open yet, but I could be wrong.
