August 2017 Disneyland Check-In & Chat!

We got the same! I had to go back and check my confirmation. We got the C1 Parlor suite. I think it is three queen beds and a sleeper in two rooms. Is that right?!

I had to look up the codes but if you are C1 Parlour and have 2 full rooms, then you have the family one. Those look really spacious. We're in the A-Parlour Suite which is two rooms - one with 2 queens and the other with the sofa bed. A tv in each room.
I noticed for our dates that the Friday night is selling out already (i.e. less rooms available) so popular place. Maybe because of the race weekend.

coloredimage, thanks again for starting this thread and updating the list. Feels exciting and like it is getting closer now that we have our own thread...lol. Hope you're feeling better.

We are staying at DI&S for the first time this trip in the C1 suite. It sounds like you've stayed here before? And you liked it? I'm only nervous because I've read the beds are hard!! I'm hoping for good air conditioning since August is so hot!! I booked a while ago for $219, and now it's showing $239, so it pays to book early!

August feels like forever away, but I have a countdown app on my phone, and the days are counting down, so we'll get there eventually!!

I've been lurking for a bit and figured it's time to join in!
We are going August 8-11, spending the 7th at USH for HP first. We'll be driving down from way northern California and have the Disneyland Hotel booked for our time there. I cannot wait!! We've never stayed on property before, and the last time we went was over 5 years ago before Cars Land was done. It will be me, my dh, and 3 kids (dd14, ds12, and ds7).

Actually it's our first trip to Disneyland so first time at DI&S. I have to admit that I am keeping my eye on Park Vue as well, but the price would need to drop. Like you, we booked early and got a good price. Things seem to only go up (plus they sell out). I do like the 2 rooms, but with the A-Parlour suite have heard that the front room doesn't have its own AC unit (just something to circulate the air). I would imagine the C1 suite has an AC unit in both rooms? Have heard too about the hard beds but guess everyone has different likes. There is apparently a rooftop area for viewing the fireworks which is nice.

Know what you mean...i recently put a ticker countdown on here...and since it only goes down, each day is a day closer. :tiptoe:

I'm glad you guys are happy I started the thread! It does seem a bit more real now that there's a place to plan and chat with other people going! And I'm feeling a little better but today was the first day I didn't have to work so I basically slept all day lol

It does feel like forever! But then again I'm shocked it's March already!

Your first trip!!! How exciting!!!

We are going August 1 through 5 for 30th wedding anniversary. Bringing my 4 adult kids, son in law and 2 and 5 year old grandkids. Staying at HoJo and really hoping the walk isn't ridiculously far, though we will have a stroller so I guess it should be fine. I figured maybe this summer won't be crazy crowded because people might wait until SWL is finished and skip the next couple of years. I'm sure I'll be wrong and it will be crazy as usual. Lol.

I'll be solo at Disneyland from the 20th to the 24th! I'll be visiting from Australia and it's at the end of my two week west coast trip. The first week I'm travelling with my dad, working our way up from LA to Vancouver, staying in Santa Maria, San Francisco, Portland and Vancouver. He's then heading off to do a workshop in Maine, and I'll be heading back down to California to go to Yosemite and then finally to DL.

It will be my second trip to DL, and my second time staying at the Super 8 in Katella. For me the walk is fine and the price is even better. For my park tickets I decided to go with just the 4 day single park tickets, I hope I won't regret not having hoppers but I think it should be alright. I'm planning on taking it pretty easy since I find going solo means you can get things done quicker than if you were in a group. I'm planing to do the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour on one of my days so I can hopefully meet some like-minded people!

One thing that's bumming me out about my trip is that I've recently been diagnosed with celiacs disease. I've been dreaming of all the yummy treats I was going to eat at DL and now I can't :( I know DL has lots of GF options but it seems like all the "iconic"/must-have foods have gluten in them (except for dole whip :woohoo:).

Oh no! Well, personally the dole whip is my favorite so I'm super biased, lol, but I'm sure there are some GF staples out there!

Also, guys, I'm going to update the first page after breakfast - if for any reason I miss someone ever just get my attention and let me know! :)

Did somebody say dole whip?! My fav! :earboy2:

Good tips for hot weather.

tammytam, nice so you're on the same coast and so DL isn't "too" far. We're going end of August too (our dates overlap). Really? Didn't realise that the park opens a bit later. I guess good use of Magic Morning. I'm more upset that Haunted Mansion will (most likely) be closed for the layover. DD and I love that attraction at WDW so she'll be disappointed when she hears it won't be open. I was originally looking at week of Aug 14th for this reason but the last week fit best with our summer and made most sense.

I've come to accept that we'll miss haunted mansion on this trip (but still somewhat hoping it goes down a bit later this year ;)). A bit of a bummer, as my 5 year old has a genetic condition that results in short stature (so he's not yet at that magical height of 40"), and HM is one of the 'big rides' that doesn't have a height limit. Ah well.. next time! ;)

Yay an August thread!!! :) We'll be there August 13-19. It's a mother daughter trip with just myself and my 9yo. The rest of the family is staying home this time.

Have you seen the very large GF thread that's here? It's full of information. There is also an app you can get for your phone that gives gluten free options at DL, although I don't know what phone options you have coming from Australia. I'll bet you can find some new GF favorites!!!

Fun we are a mother daughter trip also with my 9 yo turning 10 while there, so excited for our first DLR trip.

22Tink and Gin0818 - You are both going to have the best time! I took my 8 year old daughter last spring for a mom/daughter trip (it was her first trip to disney) and it was so amazing!

I was just reading the thread on the Eastern Gateway project, and I'm wondering how construction noise, and the closing of Harbor may impact our stay at DI&S. I do like those midday rest/naps! All the hotels and restaurants on Harbor must be dreading this. I hope they make an access ramp!

Yes, we're looking forward to it!! We've been multiple times with various combinations of our family of 6 but never just myself and one child!

From my understanding, it won't impact us this summer (for our August 2017 trips). Hopefully that's the case! (Though I haven't read too much on it lately). We're staying at Park Vue.. and last spring, my daughter and I stayed at Tropicana. I'm really going to miss these close hotel options once the pedestrian bridge goes in.. let's hope there will be an access point from Harbour!
