It was bizarre.

Almost like they didn't know how to end it.

The show had originally been based on Roseanne's real family, but had been twerked in that the writers had Darlene and Becky's personalities switched. I'm not sure why they did this... perhaps to have it not be quite as one would expect, with the rebel dating the nice guy and the more socially conforming daughter dating the rebel. In the last episode, I think they revealed the characters to be more like the children in real life. I hate the way they killed off Dan, and the whole final season. I think perhaps Roseanne was trying to wrap her mind around how fame changes things and wanted to bring it back to reality in the final episode, which was a huge change from the final season, and all the previous seasons leading up to then. I think it was a bit much for a lot folks, myself included, who came to relate to the family as it had evolved in all the previous seasons. Things may have been altered from Roseanne's true family experiences, but the fictional family rang true to many, many working class families across the nation, so the whole last season/final episode weren't as relatable.

That said, I'd be willing to give the new show a try!

I wish they would forget about the entire last episode. I hated the way they did that and made the last couple of seasons not what really happened.

I mean if you go by the last episode, Becky wasn't even married to Mark and Darlene wasn't married to David. Darlene was with Mark and Becky was with David.

In my world that final episode never happened. Actually that final season never happened. Roseanne lost her darn mind and took the show down with her. I'm willing to bet they play it all off like THAT (the season and the final episode that never happened ) was all fiction.

Not sure if I'll watch or not. I take being played for a fool weirdly personal but at the same time it would be interesting to see what they do. I hope they don't recast Mark. I'd rather they have him skip town or to have passed.

I agree. I found it to be such a distasteful and classless show, so I have no interest whatsoever in watching it now and am disappointed that they are bringing it back.

I am not disappointed in the show. I am disappointed that such a classless show is being resurrected. In other words, I am disappointed in the action (the resurrection), not the object (the show).

It's classless because? Blue collar, working people who lived normal lives and had normal things happen? (aside from the season/final episode that did not happen)

Roseanne, the actress, may not have been the epitome of class, but what about the show was classless?

I liked the fact that the show was realistic compared to ones like Cosby or Growing Pains where everything is always perfect.

And the characters evolved over the years.
