Another Thanksgiving Food thread...Dessert

I am only do the one I want, not sure what will be showing up.
Probably pumpkin, not sure what else. Guess it depends on what DDIL likes when she goes shopping

We have a pumpkin pie because you sort of have to, but I always prefer the pumpkin cake roll with sweetened cream cheese filling that my sister gets from her friend Sandy. It's to die for.

My SIL is making sweet potato pie. My grandma is bringing a Cinderella pumpkin cheesecake.

My aunt is bringing desserts. I don't know what kind. I probably should ask.

My cousin said she's bringing a pumpkin cheesecake, so I'm skipping the pumpkin pie this year.

Instead I found this cake at Shop Rite last night. Yellow cake. Looks like they used an egg-shaped pan, then frosting for the wings and drumsticks and cubed pound cake for the "stuffing."

Hubby made pumpkin cheesecake brownies last night. The smell was so heavily sweet from them that I got sick, sigh...

DD made oreo cookie/marshmallow layered brownies today. Kids love them - adults take one bite and are full.

There will be a birthday cake as 3 of us have birthdays near Thanksgiving pretty much every year, unless it's an early one.

There will be pie as well, I'm guessing, as there will be 30 of us.

What does everyone have for dessert on Thanksgiving?

We will have Pumpkin Pie and an Apple Pie so I was thinking of doing a cake but not sure what kind.

Any suggestions welcome!

We usually have pumpkin, apple and pecan pies.

This year, we're just doing pumpkin pie and rum cakes.

Is coconut cake a Southern thing? I have seen a few people mention it in this thread, but the only time I have ever had coconut cake is in the summer, but even those have been more along the lines of pina colada cakes.

The BBQ place up the road (Four Rivers) has a bakery in the restaurant. They serve a coconut bombe which is amazing. It's coconut cake, filled with vanilla mousse, a fluffy white frosting and covered in coconut. The only way they could make it better is if they toasted the coconut on the outside.

Pecan and pumpkin pies, at a minimum. A few years ago my pecan pie brought down the house (there's absolutely nothing special about it), and so I've been getting put on Pie Detail for the last few years. Usually "Grandma Jean" made all the desserts, but these days it's too stressful for her, and she forgets a lot of things, so these things are farmed out.

pumpkin pie, also because you have to on Thanksgiving, and a cookie butter cake. it's really just a vanilla cake with cookie butter buttercream.

I forgot....I am also bringing a Tuxedo cake because DD doesn't like any of the traditional pies or anything pumpkin
