Club 33 pricing announced-open to Golden Oaks residents first

Good distinction. There's a difference between price and "worth". Price is easily stated in dollars. Worth is in the mind.
We likely have some disposable income available this year. Enough to do this? Probably.

But at this price point, there are certainly other “disposable income” options that easily come into play.

1. Trip to Europe.
2. Pair of Season Tix to Astros (with playoff/hopefully WS repeat rights).
3. Extensive kitchen remodel.
4. Decent used RV camper (ala 5th wheel).
5. New truck for daddy.

Etc. Etc.

Although. If your MB always turned every FP terminal green, Club 33 would definitely be in the running.

Point is, this isn’t your everyday opportunity cost of say, a trip to WDW.

That’s enough money to take opportunity cost to another level.

I’m actually shocked the entry price is rumored/reported at 25k. I guess because of the potential increased membership numbers compared to DL. I fully expected it to be 40-75k.

I don't think it's a good value no matter how hard I try. I expected more.

Can anyone explain to me why this club is so expensive? I mean, you accept that you're always going to pay a premium price for Disney as it's a quality product but this seems above and beyond that. Is there anyway this can be justified rationally as "expensive but worth it" or is it just aimed at people for whom money is not really an issue?

The club was originally for Walt to bring in corporate people for meetings and what not. Club 33 is exclusive and includes access to things others don’t get. It usually includes park admission and Fastpasses as well. Most people who buy a membership aren’t people who really look at the value of it for their money.

I know at DL Club 33, some of the members are local and go there frequently. One mentioned it being the highlight of his retirement. If I lived at Golden Oak I could see the membership being worthwhile since you are right there and could go every week if you wanted to.

I was recently looking into booking an International flight, the economy tickets were $900 and first class was $8000. There are some people who are willing to pay almost 10X more to have something be a luxury experience.

Adopt me, I come with AP and also an Astros fan ::yes::

It is an exclusive club because it is meant to exclude. In many cases, things that are super expensive are not meant to give equal value for cost. They are super expensive for the primary purpose of excluding most people- and making those who can afford it feel special. Many clubs across the country are the same way. You pay a little bit for the products and services and a whole lot for the privilege of separating yourself from others.

In my view, people join clubs like this to make themselves feel better or different or out of the ordinary. They want to hang out with others who are better or different or out of the ordinary. It is really kind of a caste system. Sneetches on the Beaches who have stars upon thars.

Admittedly, if I had the money, I would probably pay Sylvester McMonkey McBean for that Disney star. Alas, I fear my finances and choice of career force me to remain a Plain-Belly Sneetch.

Ehh I would rather continue to spend the money on some nice big vacations - ABD, WDW, Amelia Island etc.

So 15k a year, or roughly the cost for a family of 4 at Poly for a week plus tix at peak, if not today then in the not too distant future. If i could afford that a year i would be down for this.

They've got to open this to more than just Golden Oaks residents (and presumably their friends?) at some point, don't they? Even at those rates, they need more members than that pool of people would generate.

I could do the $15K a year, we spend around $13k for a week but that includes our room. I just couldn't do the $33K up front. But I can dream.

If I gave up on buying a house I could afford the $33k up front. That wouldn't be a smart move, though, sadly.

Club 33’s original intent was for Disney to show off to investors and other corporate leaders. Now club 33 is a place for the wealthy to hang out and be exclusive. They do offer corporate memberships in Disneyland. No word if that will happen in WDW yet.

Does this suggest honesty?

Look I know you're playing a game. It's all there. I just can't believe what you say anymore. You knew this was happening back in January, probably even before but yet you are selling the public that no such thing exists. I just want to know why?
