Are people always like this? - A Solo Adventure Spring Break 2018 (Completed 5/20/18)

Great morning in MK!! I've seen some videos of the new redhead scene and agree she's clearly a whole new animatronic. Her movements and such look really good. I'm one of those people who didn't love the old scene. I mean, it never bothered me enough to think it needed to be changed, but it certainly wasn't my favorite. I'm anxious to see the new one when we go this summer.

We are set to eat at Homecomin' this summer too, so I'm anxious to read your review!

The AA itself is really great. I think the storyline could have been a bit better but it is what it is.

That review should be coming sometime soon when I have time...

Then there was this little girl who was watching a video with the most annoying song every and it was on repeat so about 20 times in a row I listened to this song blaring at a table next to me while her grandparents all smiled and laughed at her............. I understand she probably needed to be occupied but the volume could have been lower.

After this I headed to grab some popcorn in Dinoland...

Up Next: I can't eat my pizza in my room...
So I'm catching up on your report but had to comment on this part - we were in WDW right after you left. Our first night, we had a reservation at Jiko. We were seated near a family with a set of parents, their 2 young kids, and 2 sets of in-laws. The little girl in the family was watching something on a phone and the volume was INSANE. Another guy 2-3 tables over actually came and told them to turn the phone down (man was I relieved). The one set of grandparents just would not let it go...the one grandfather actually went up to the table of the guy who asked them to turn the phone down and got in his face and everything! The Jiko staff intervened (I was super impressed with how quickly they diffused the situation) but even after that, the one set of grandparents just would not shut up about it. They tried to get us to agree with them (Mr. Ariel484 was just like, "NOPE, we're not involved"), they kept relaying the story and being all huffy about it, etc. Like this guy was wrong for asking their precious angel to turn the volume down in a restaurant - and a Signature, at that. IT WAS SO AWKWARD. Thankfully they left soon after.

All that to say...that was one of our "are people always like this?" moments, and I'm wondering if it was the same family you encountered. So obnoxious!

I have caught up on your trip report over the last few days. I really enjoy how many pictures you take! Your splash picture is great!
I'm sorry if someone else already asked, but I was curious how you managed to snag two FP for FOP?

Whenever I am in public and someone acts like that over something so insignificant, I just think they MUST be crazy. No sane person gets that upset over something so. . . normal. And WDW attracts everyone, even the nuts people. Lol.

OMG! That totally could be the same family! The volume was definitely super loud and obnoxious and I wanted to say something for sure. If I did I probably would’ve gotten the same craziness that the guy who said something got. Maybe they should invest in some headphones for the child.

Thanks!

I can’t mention how I did it on the boards and it seems the way to do it is no longer available if you catch my hint at all.

They were crazy, for sure. It was the closest I have ever seen to two people almost getting into a fight at WDW...all because the one guy asked (rightfully) for the volume to be turned down. I get that WDW is super kid-friendly, but that doesn't make it right or okay to disrupt the environment for everyone else. :rolleyes2

I bet it was. Your description stuck out to me because it was definitely driven 100% by the grandparents (though, I wish the parents had just told them to chill out). Yeah, probably a good thing you didn't say anything because that dude seemed ready to fight!

We experienced something similar at Citrico's at Grand Floridian, of all places, a couple of years ago. Didn't say anything to the family but flagged down the server and requested to move. It seems like this type of behavior keeps increasing, though.

We were so bummed, because we had been given a lovely table right by the windows (right by the water feature), but almost immediately we were all set to ask to be moved. First because of the loud phone, then because we just didn't want to be around those people anymore after that confrontation (which happened within about 5 minutes of us being seated) - the mood was just incredibly tense! This trip was our babymoon, so we were excited for some nice, quiet meals together (sidenote: Citricos was one of them, best meal of the trip overall I think! No loud phones!). We were SO happy when we realized that the family was leaving!! :faint:

I do agree that this behavior seems to increase...really makes me think about what we'll do when our own kiddo comes along. :scratchin

That’s interesting to think about. I definitely have noticed a sense of people being more tense at Disney.

Here are my ride photos from Pirates and Splash! Not sure why that woman is covering up...

I can guess why. A couple years ago on a trip with my mom we rode Splash Mountain and barely got wet. Our next ride was Pirates and we got the front row and were SOAKED by that first drop. Ok, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration but it was way more than we got on Splash. Once we got over the surprise we found the irony of it all hilarious and kept laughing the rest of the ride. I remember the CM at the front warned us about the possibility and we laughed her off once we were seated (boy were we about to get corrected!). So I'm guessing the woman in your photo isn't fond of getting wet and may have gotten a similar warning.

Just found your TR and enjoying it! I’m so used to your RD ones that I keep waiting for the running to start.

I'm afraid I would have said something.
Rude, self important, obnoxious people need to be reminded that the World doesn't revolve around their rear ends............

Following along! We were in Disney the same time frame. I'm jealous of your 3 rides on FOP. We couldn't get a fp at all for our trip. I guess it gives us a reason to go back.

Sounds like a great morning at MK!

Auctioning chickens ... interesting. I'm reserving judgement for when I actually see the new scene, but ... that doesn't seem quite as pirate-y to me.

Also, I don't know if this has been mentioned here, but ... I think I've seen people saying that the redhead AA is from Great Movie Ride.

If you're thinking about the situation, you don't have to worry...you'll never be "that" family. The people that behave like that are never the ones that are thinking about their actions and the resulting impact on others...
This is an excellent point!! ::yes::
