Anyone up? Harry & Meghan Royal Wedding Watch thread

confused, why were you all not watching either BBC online or SKY NEWS online, they actually had multiple reporters on the ground in various places around Windsor and were interviewing many people connected to the wedding. They have dedicated full time royal correspondents who get the info direct and first from the royal press office and are actually known and recognised by the royal family as they travel with them on over sees visits. These royal correspondents know their stuff and have the real actual facts and figures, not just what they think are the facts
 Sounds like you're berating us, which is weird. I can't speak for anyone by myself, but I've personally never heard of Sky News and watching the event on-line instead of off my DVR wasn't going to happen either.

I watched the Today show coverage myself. Probably not as high brow as the BBC coverage (I doubt the BBC hosts were shown constantly changing fascinators with the crowd) but I enjoyed it.

American news stations can get facts about Brits just like British new stations can get facts about Americans.

We watch our stations, you watch yours. Nothing to be confused about....

I was happy with the CBS coverage and all the comments/facts from DISers here on this thread.

I thought the wedding was very special for both British and Americans and Canadians and other countries.

I thought Meghan's dress being so "plain" made it all the more elegant and her all the more beautiful. I for one focused more on her and her emotions because the dress didn't take over. :)

And Harry.........always thought he was adorable. ;)

Was anyone else surprised that in their vows, their given names of Henry and Rachel were not used?

I know for us commoners its not required. My husband goes by his middle name and that's the one that was used for our ceremony. All the paperwork has his legal name, though.

I started watching the BBC broadcast, per my husband's suggestion, but I changed to CBS when I couldn't understand what they were saying. It wasn't just their accents - my bedroom TV is sort of on the other side of the room and I didn't want to turn it up too loudly because others in my household were sleeping, so that made it difficult, too. But I had no trouble understanding or hearing the CBS people. And they had people in multiple places as well as royal experts working with them, too. :thumbsup2

Well, the Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara, which is perhaps the tiara Diana is best known for, was on loan from the Queen and Kate has worn that once or twice. The Spencer family tiara that she wore at her wedding to Prince Charles remains with the Spencer family. Apparently there was a big broohaha at some point while Diana was still married as she felt the Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara was difficult to wear and she wanted to wear the Spencer tiara on a regular basis but her brother wouldn't let her.
Hmm, I didn't know there were two. I just remember hearing - I thought - that Kate had Diana's tiara.

I didn't even think to watch it on a US station. My first thought was BBC. I guess I forgot that US networks would cover it. Early on a Saturday morning did that to me.

The young man on the cello was amazing, especially for his age.

I thought Kate's dress was beautiful
I am sorry I missed your post. I am not making fun of her dress and never would. I just remember how picky the queen was with Diana. I guess the new brides are making a change up for weddings. Which is not a bad thing.

I watched ABC because I like their morning people from GMA, and because we don't have cable and that is the channel that comes in the best with our digital antenna :)

I was surprised too. I do recall at one point, and heard her full name but then the rest of the exchange was Meghan.
I was very surprised it was Harry and not Henry. But this was their “modern” choice.

I forgot to mention I was Glad to see Fergie there. She has always been close to both her daughters and apparently still very close to her Ex. Good for them!
She looked wonderful.. remember the early years of she and Diana ???

I saw and heard that American minister speak 7 1/2 years ago when he was the guest speaker at my mom's church one Sunday. He's amazing. 7 years ago, his sermon was one of the best ones I've ever heard and the one he gave today at the wedding ceremony was just as good. He grew up in the AME church and later decided to become an Episcopal minister. My mom was dying of cancer at the time (she passed away 1 month after he did the sermon that Sunday) and his sermon was totally exactly spot on what she needed. I thought his sermon at the royal wedding was pretty darn great. And what an honor to be able to preach to the Queen of England.

I'm sure British security was watching the crazy half-relatives like a hawk since they arrived in London. No way would they have gotten within 10 miles of Windsor Castle.

I don't think I've EVER seen Posh Spice smile.

I didn't watch live, but saw photos of both of them arriving at the ceremony. Princess Anne too.
Posh Spice looked like she was dressed for a funeral instead of a wedding!

I watched it on the DVR this afternoon - BBC had great coverage and no commercials. They also explained a lot which I appreciated!

Maybe I'm just a sap for love but I adored it all; they are clearly in love and were able to incorporate things important to them throughout the service. She was glowing and the dress was understated, elegant, and allowed her beauty to really shine.

I'm a huge fan of the sermon - it's been shared a million times by my (fellow clergy) FB friends because of how outstanding it was. His delivery, content, and theology was spot on. And that he incorporated Pentecost with the fire analogy? Amazing. I can't wait to rewatch it! It's their wedding, they selected him, and he did nothing different than his usual preaching style so I doubt seriously they were uncomfortable with their choice. The choir immediately following him was perfectly placed in the service and very well done.

It was a tad sad to see her mom alone but I thought Charles did a lovely job escorting her, chatting with her, etc. I was thrilled that she got to ride in the car with Meghan to the church - I think BBC said that was unusual for a mother of the bride and I'm sure they both appreciated the 30+ minutes of time together in the car prior.

I'm thrilled for them and am hopeful they have a long, happy life together.

I agree about Charles, he did seem to make a mission of including Meghan's mom. And agreed to walk Meghan down the aisle. Seems he couldn't have been more welcoming and I think he will be a steadying and comforting presence in their lives.
