What is something you like to do the "old fashion way"

I have to agree with everyone who says most stuff cooked in a crockpot all tastes the same. But I have found a few good recipes that actually taste pretty good made in a crockpot. One is a Southern Living beef stroganoff recipe. There is also a Provencale chicken recipe from that same SL Slow Cooker cookbook that is pretty good. I also have one for chicken with peas and bacon in a cream sauce that gets served over penne. But the very best one is the honey garlic rib recipe from Tasty. My teens won’t let me cook ribs any other way now. It is the BEST crockpot recipe I’ve ever tried!!!

I love to hang the wash out on the line. I love the fresh smell of the clothes.
I also prefer books over ebooks.
At the parks, I just write down my fp's and a dining res, if I have one. Then I fold up the small piece of paper and put it in a pocket. Simple and easy.
I guess I'm just a dinosaur set in my ways :)

Read real books. I don’t mind ebooks but still prefer real books.

That's what I was going to say.

I also use a paper calendar on my wall rather than keeping a calendar on my phone. I know I could do some sort of family calendar and link our phones, but the kids like the one on the wall too because we can all look at it in the morning and remember what we have scheduled, and see what's upcoming too

I second traditional books. I also like analog clocks, and writing real letters - on actual paper, with pretty-colored pens.
I used to love to write. My handwriting has gone to heck in a hand basket these days. I had to fill out some forms for my kids (they will not let you photo copy them even though everything but their name and gender is exactly the same) and by the time I got through the second set it you could barely make it out.
Using a hand can opener vs an electric one. So much easier and faster for me
Electric can openers make an easy job complicated. Both types are designed to drive lefties over the edge.

I wanted to be ready for those - in case sometimes I really couldn't get to the bank...but I ran into some snag setting it up and never bothered to go in and fix it. I actually like knowing the tellers and having a friendly conversation - reminds me of "the old days".

I personally don't get all the crock pot hate - I use to love being able to fix dinner when I was at my best (in the morning!) and not when I was tired and cranky and already hungry. But DS agrees with many of you that something tastes off about it, so I use it much less than I used to. He'll be happy to know he isn't alone in his opinion!
I don’t hate crockpots, I actually have a handful of recipes that I make only in it. Some people ONLY use crockpots (or these days Instant Pots) for the convenience and that’s what I find lacking. You end up with meals that have the same texture, consistency and taste over and over again. They’re great to have but they just can’t beat the flavor of real cooking.

LOL - mine either and I never owned one until a few years ago when having a hot, home-cooked supper waiting every night sprang up as an ideal way to improve my marriage, parenting, health, food budget, sense of self-worth and overall contentment in life. :rotfl2:Got along without it before I met it, gettin' along without it now!
I got the Patience and Prudence/ Viola Wells reference.

Read real books
Shop at a real, physical store (all types of shopping)
Watch/rent DVDs
Write out recipes and store them in a real recipe book
Walk up to the counter at McDonalds or Panera and give my order to a real person instead of punching around on a kiosk that's three feet away from said counter.

I am the only one in my neighborhood with a clothes line, I don't use it frequently but it is so helpful at times. We use no services...cooking, cleaning, dry cleaning, landscaping, etc. I still have a flip phone and the only reason I will upgrade is because I can't receive some texts with emoji's. I can't stand always being 'connected', and like my private space, but I guess that makes me old fashioned.

Mom? Dad?

I have and rely upon my calendar book that I keep in my pocketbook. Any event, any plans that I have, are written in that book. My DD keeps telling me I should use my phone to keep track of what I have to do but I just like being able to open the book and see everything in front of me. I know, as my DD says, I could do the same thing with the phone but I just like it written in my own personal book.

My DH and I, late sixties/early seventies, have embraced all technology. We love our IPads, IPhones, keyless car, GPS on our phones, online banking, DVR, Netflix, etc., etc. He was an IT specialist in his career, but we love it all. We text with our adult kids and our grandkids and it’s perfect. I do like to use proper grammar and spelling while texting. I’m so glad I live with all these things that make life easier, and fun!

Order my meal from a waitress at a restaurant. Seems like most of the chain places around us have gone to using computer screens on the table. Luckily we've found some great alternatives in our area by branching out. I refuse to order from the screens.
