*** The Official September 2018 Thread *** let's get started to have some fun

15-Min Until FastPass time.

All hands, man your stations. This is not a Drill, repeat this is not a drill....

-----------------------------------

Doh!!

Never mind. It was a drill. I have three more days until my window opens.
I have a MNSSHP reservation three days before my check-in date (I'm doing Universal first) so MDE shows "60-days" three days early. Rookie mistake. Please stand down. Resume normal operations.

So how did you do?

Does anyone else enjoy driving by the airport more when there is a trip on the books? Granted, out airport is right in the middle of things with zero traffic so it's easy to get to and/or drive by.
I live about a mile from our airport, and basically have to drive by it to get anywhere. You have no idea how many times I'm driving and think how easy it'd be to just hop a flight to Florida! lol

The closer the trip gets, the more I enjoy random proximity to the airport.

I actually counted my work days left on my calendar before vacation. 24! :D Hopefully I can do it without going crazy. It's been busy, so that helps.

Next week is my daughter's last week of summer camp. School starts on 8/8 here. Time flies!!!

Two holidays between now and then for me.

I wish. We had a Girl Scout troop get together last night and everyone was showing off their tans and vacation pics. I said hey we haven't been anywhere yet!! lol

I have been very blessed to go to the beach for 10 days at the beginning of July - and most weekends of June. I am there right now. The 2 holidays are State holidays (Labor Day and VJ Day) - two less work days! Not sure I am going anywhere for either, though, the beach is always a possibility.

34 DAYS!!!! We will be leaving the night of August 30, driving down while the kids sleep. It's about an 8 hour drive for us since we're in GA. Staying till September 12 and will drive back that night after we hit the parks one last time. I'm so excited but time has flown by! I feel like there's still so much to do! Hoping the costumes I need to order on Etsy will be able to be here on time. Need to double check our FP's and make our daily itinerary! Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

Got our DME tags in the mail today! Disney mail is always the best ::yes::
They did only send us 3 tags (one for each of us) so I had to call and request more since I definitely take advantage of the 2 free checked bags with SW.
Got our costumes together for MNSSHP today too. So excited things are finally starting to come along :D

FP DAY!

SDD was a gone for all but 60+8, I tried 60+1 and +4. AS2 at 60+1 only had availability for the afternoon and that won’t work for me but so refresh and modify will play a huge part on my plans. I had no problems with any other FP, except 7D had NO availability for my arrival day, but we have EMH at MK that night so no worries there.

All in all it was a good day!

I also decided to drop BOG dinner. The menu didn’t appeal to me at all and the seafood dish had abysmal reviews. I rather eat at a Columbia, my favorite quick service!

We also live in GA and drive overnight. It's about 7 hours for us with a few stops to stretch our legs. We leave the night of sept 5th, I guess it's actually the 6th but we leave at 2 am so the kids and wife sleep while I drive. I plan on coming home at 6 and getting in the bed till 1 am. Were doing the 6th - 16th and have parks every day. Glad I'm not the only crazy one that likes to drive overnight but you can't beat the empty roads!

Car is so much better than flying. If I lived anything 12 hours or less, I would drive.

10-11 hours driving from Nashville; that'd be doable if I had someone else I was driving with to switch off, but going solo? Nope.

And once I factor in gas, a couple extra meals, wear on my car, Disney parking costs, plus the toll on my sanity, it's probably not even that much cheaper. :P

DVC = no parking fees
Packing as I go = YES
Packing whatever the heck I want = priceless

Right as I hit post >>

Not having to deal with rental car + WIN!!!!

I have spent countless HOURS trying to get a decent rental car rate (that doesn't charge for spouse). HOURS and hours. I couldn't afford me (at billable rate) LOL

I have weighed the whole flying vs. driving for us and it will not really save us time. We leave our house and drive it takes 7 hours with a few stops and my wife's car is pretty comfy. If we fly it will take us 1.5 hours to get to airport. 30 minutes to park and get inside. 1 hour to check bags, security etc. once we board, 30 minutes to taxi and take off. 1.5 hour flight. once we land, 30 min to depart and get to bus. 45 min ride to WDW. Plus we can drive for way less money.
