Official Wine & Dine 2018

I like each of the medals on their own, but agree that together they lack cohesion. I also liked last years medals- but think this year is such a 180 difference they must have had a lot of complaints. LOL

And I do miss the classic Spaceship Earth design. sigh. Those were lovely medals!

I think this is my biggest issue. I like the different themes for the races, but I feel like they could have at least tied the medals in a little better.

And the half medal and the comments about running past apartments makes me laugh because I didn't read the article so I was totally clueless that it was supposed to be the Tuscan countryside??????

But I'm on the fence too. Hoping I like them even more in person!

I wonder what the medal design process is like. Does RD farm it out to the medal companies to come up with the Design or does Disney sketch what they want? Seriously though, each year there seems to be a race or two that’s a bust for medal design. Marathon weekend and Star Wars seem to be the most consistent from year to year with a majority liking what they see. Maybe these will be glorious in person.

Here's a video of the design process for a Star Wars race. I think there's another video out there for the Princess medals, but I can't find it right now.

Yikes on the medals. I hope they look better in person because the challenge and 10k might top my least favorite of medals I've seen list :(

I thought it was SSR and was very confused!

:rotfl2:
Maybe they changed the race course. ;)
I certainly wouldn't look at that and think, oh look the Tuscan countryside. I think there should be something Disney or food related there. Just seems sort of generic to me.

Got our Star Wars Dessert Party booked for November 4th! We aren't doing the after party since we like to be in bed by 10PM so at least this is something fun!

The after party seemed really expensive for 3 hours... has anyone done it? Is it worth it?

It’s the only dessert party I’ve done and I’d do it again. You get seating with this one now and a meet and greet as well as a party gift which is usually a mug or something along those lines.

Oh so sorry for the confusion; I meant is the Run Disney Wine & Dine After Party worth the cost of a ticket?

I don't love or hate them but I'd like to see them in person. I don't like the shape of the half medal and still much prefer the first three years but it isn't bad.

What do they cost? If it’s much my first thought would be no. It’s really just EMH with maybe some rarer characters to see. I do think from what I’ve read that it’s much less crowded the longer you stay though.

I did the after party last year, because it came with the challenge, but I ended up buying a ticket for my husband so he could come with me. It was okay. They had a DJ and some of the food vendors were open. I think the only ride that was open was SSE, but I could just not be remembering correctly. I know we walked around and ate and drank and did SSE. I do remember photographers but I don't remember characters being out.

The hard part about the After Party really is getting up so early for the race and then having the stamina to really stay up and enjoy it. Last year I was determined to stay a little later as we were having fun meeting characters. We had a thing or two from the food booths, rode Soarin' and I had a drink or two. But my BRF had hurt her foot so she was not having as much fun so we went back to the room. But I loved the characters this past year! Way better than in past years! These aren't the best pictures as they're fro my phone, but I do hope to stay a little later this year. Hopefully rD will bring it with the characters again this year.

OH YEAH. They did have characters. But I think the lines were really long and we just wanted to check out all the booze stations. I have a terrible memory, glad someone else is around to get photos. Hahahah.

The headliner rides have been open for the after-party :Soarin', Test Track, Frozen. M:S may have been, too - I didn't go over there, so I can't say for sure. The key to enjoying the party is a good NAP! I may or may not have closed down the party the last 3 years. ;)

I change my answer - if Colonial Mickey is out then it’s worth it! :)
