Do you/Did you ever watch a soap opera?

I used to follow One Life to Live, Days, and General Hospital...like when I was a kid/teen - my mom and Grandma did so any time I was home it was just on. Now the only one I watch (record every day) is GH. OLTL hasn't been on in years and I had a gap of at least a decade where I just didnt watch any of them and I only repicked up GH.

When I was a teenager, I watched all the ABC soaps- Ryan's Hope, All My Children, One Life to Live, and General Hospital. I still watch General Hospital- and I watch the CBS soaps- Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful.

Started watching General Hospital in high school and through college, during the period with Luke and Laura, the Quartermaines, the Cassadines, Elizabeth Taylor, etc.

Also watched Edge of Night for a few years, which came on right after GH. And I vaguely remember Dark Shadows; I was pretty young but would sometimes watch with my older sister who loved David Selby.

Another World was my favourite.

I loved Another World. My mom and I watched it together. I would come home from school for lunch when I was in high school (small town, we lived close by) and we would watch Another World and eat tuna sandwiches.

I watched All My Children as well, but Another World was the best by far.

I started watching All My Children in 1978 when I was 10 with my mom and older sister. Remember the Nina and Cliff storyline? And Palmer Cortland and Daisy...while I was in HS it was Jenny and Greg, Jesse and Angie and of course Liza & Tad the Cad. Loved it!! Erica and her many loves. I watched One Life to Live and GH for awhile on and off. I have a friend who named her daughter after Tea on OLTL. My mom watched AMC, Port Charles, and Loving and Ryan's Hope. I watched RH for a bit. Nowadays I'm watching GH and DOOL. Been watching DOOL since 2000 I think. Really happy to have Roger Horwath and Michael Easton and James Depavia on GH. And Kassie DePaiva on DOOL.

Also was a big fan of Knots Landing during HS. Cool to see "Abby" on GH as Nina's mom!
I just looked it up and Donna Mills is 77! She looks great!!

Omg! I actually remember those characters from all my children. It was the early to mid 80s when I watched it with grandma.

I started watching soaps with Loving. Then I watched Port Charles, One life to live and General Hospital for years. My favorite story line was the Scott and Dominique story. But I stopped watching GH after it became the Sonny Corinthos show.

I saw Dark Shadows many years after its first run, and loved it.

My mum was a faithful of days of our lives and the young and restless. As a kid I watched both neighbours and home and away.

Then when I was married and living overseas my ex got me hooked on eastenders, coronation street, the bill, and emmerdale. Out of the four I preferred the bill and eastenders.

I watch very little television these days. And the nearest soap opera I e recently watched is the walking dead.

I started watching General Hospital because my mom watched it and I just watched with her. Then I started watching All My Children because my friends in high school were watching it. Then I started watching One Life to Live because it was the bridge show in between those two so I would often catch the first or last couple of minutes and eventually got hooked. One Life to Live actually became my favourite by far.

I hadn't watched any soaps in years, until about 2 summers ago when my sons were off for summer break and they were bored and started watching General Hospital one day. I came home from work and there they were watching it and I was like, hey I remember that character! Wow, is that character still on, etc. Then I found myself explaining things to my sons like, "Oh yeah, they used to be married but he had an affair with her daughter" lol. Now I am hooked again and for the last couple of years my sons and I have been watching together. It's like the circle of life over here lol. (I still miss One Life to Live though!!)

Yep- DH and DS watch my soaps with me! And we all sorely miss OLTL!! I keep reading that they want to being it back again- somewhere like Netflix. I watched when they put in on Hulu, but it didn't last long.

I would watch AMC and GH occasionally with my mother as those were the ones she liked.

I personally liked Passions. It was so badly done it was fun to watch. Plus all the guys would go shirtless for no real reason whatsoever and I am very much a chest/abs girl. I also liked that it would take them so long to move forward with the storyline. I never had time to watch a show daily (I can barely handle weekly) and they would take 2-3 months to move forward a day so I never missed much.

I used to watch for a while as a teen. Was As the World Turns on right after Young & the Restless, or was it the other way around? Anyway, my mom was into one, and I would sometimes watch with her, then I got into the one that came on next. I stopped when I got a summer job.

And my grandma used to come over on Friday nights to watch Dallas.

Oh, yeah, I think I did watch Neighbours briefly one summer! (I was away doing a college exchange thing and some of the girls in my dorm watched it.)

I currently watch Grey's Anatomy, which DH insists is really a soap opera!

I use to watch Dark Shadows until it ended. The Young and the Restless started when I was in jr. High. We would watch everyday before we went to the pool. On rainy days we would watch the whole CBS lineup. Love of Life, As the World Turns, Guilding Light. I watched those off and on until my maternity leave. After that I pretty much gave them all up.

So many memories!!! I watched All My Children one summer. I ended up getting addicted to One Life to Live (Blair and Todd ), General Hospital, and Days of Our Lives. My mother was mortified when my sister and myself outed ourselves as soap opera fans one Christmas. My grandma watched Days of Our Lives from the beginning. All the grand kids got into it in some form. So we were debating the possession of Marlena and my mom got seriously upset. We were closeted fans for years, so it was nice to finally get it out in the open.

I grew up watching All My Children, One Life to Live, and General Hospital. When I was young, GH was my favorite. I had the biggest crush on Jesse. I was so upset when they killed his character off. Then in HS I preferred AMC - loved Tad and Dixie. After HS I didn't have time to watch them any more. My mom still does so if I go over there midday I'll watch a little bit. It's crazy how many of the same characters/actors are still on them. It cracks me up when an actor that left after playing one character comes back to the same show playing a different character, and I'm very surprised I still recognize some of them lol!
