2020 Watch??

I find the 5-night cruises with the Fantasy in September an interesting change. The September cruises are usually lower in price to start with, and historically available with an FL resident rate. We haven't been on the Fantasy yet, but want to cruise her for the ship, not the ports (Western, been there, done that, and other cruise lines have more interesting itineraries for the Eastern), plus they are relatively expensive. So a 5 night might just be in our budget.
We are looking at this itinerary too. I'm hoping the prices don't get really high, but I have a feeling they will be on par with Dream double dip pricing

As others pointed out, looks like the Dream probably has a dry dock and the shorter cruises are bigger money makers so the Fantasy looks to be taking over those for that time.

Looking at the changes to the Fantasy's sailings, part maybe filling a Dream gap and maximizing revenue (do not like the 5-day Westerns they are sailing) and then thought is part of the approach knowing Disney may be reaching the ceiling in price point they can push with increasing competition, to offer a cheaper price point on short cruises for the perception their pricing is not as high as it really is?

I’m sure people will still compare prices.

I think the drydock and also testing itineraries for when the new ships come is the more likely explanation. Maybe see how popular 5-night cruises really are.

Our 20th anniversary is Aug 21st 2020 so we are booking the Aug 15th Western Carribeans cruise in Fantasy. When I saw the 3-5 day cruises I was afraid we would not be able to book a 7 night cruise like we had planned so I’m very happy the Fantasy will be on a 7 nights that week! Now hoping I can get a verandah for less than 8K (2A/2K).

Does anyone know? I'll need 3 cabins total for family but we're the only CC members.
We always sail in 2 cabins and yes I have been able to book them both, but DH is also CC and he gets assigned to one of the rooms, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

It does-each cc member can reserve one cabin in their name. So one year when I had to book 2 cabins, I booked one under my plat category and then the second was booked under DD's gold (this was back when plat/gold bookings were together). DCL is pretty strict on this.

We're disappointed that there isn't a 9 night Alaskan cruise, and I see from this thread that we're not alone here. So two questions:

1. Other than random speculation, is there any reason to believe that the 9 night will/will not be back in 2021? Any port expirations or other legitimate reasons why they'd stop the 9 night cruise?

2. If we cave & take the 7 night Alaskan, it looks like it comes down to Skagway or Icy Strait (the other ports are the same, and both have two sea days). Any thoughts on which is the better port for a family (14/11/7 yr old kids by sailing time).

1. No idea. Maybe it had to do with port availability in 2020?

2. Choose one with Skagway--there are so many more excursion choices (and ones to do on your own) in Skagway. (There is already a post on the board of someone asking about those 2 ports.)

Ok thanks. Thinking about booking a 7 night, and then crossing my fingers that they announce a 9 night in Feb/Mar 2020 (& then changing the reservation).

We did the 10 night Alaska cruise last summer with both Skagway and Icy Strait Point. Skagway was much, much better with the amount of activities to do and just being able to walk around the town. A good amount of Alaska history in Skagway. Icy Strait was specifically built for cruise ships so there is not much there except that it is pretty (well that's most of Alaska anyway).

We just sailed on our first DCL last week and booked a placeholder. When/how do I get my CC number to book as silver next week?

Did you keep your KTTW card from your cruise? If so your Castaway Club number is on there. Otherwise log into the DCL website and you should be able to find that info under your account info.

Sorry if already answered but I didn’t see it. Do I have to call in to use my placeholder or can I book online? I’m Gold CC. I logged in and don’t see my placeholder reservation listed anywhere but I do have the email. I tried to add it as a reservation under my reservations but that didn’t work.

As I understand it, placeholders must be converted by phone whenever you convert them.
