MDE App Update & Recent “Refresh” Changes Discussion (we’re not doomed!)

System is pretty broken. I can’t get anything to work if it’s remotely popular, even if I’m modifying an existing FP+ and press the new time literally immediately after it loads.

I can’t imagine this is the new normal. It feels more like a glitch

The more I think about this more I think Disney knew who they were aiming for. Another notch till they add paid FP. They have been making it harder and harder to not stand in hour line just to ride PoTC. Here comes the boom, soon as SWGE hit.

“We know each member of your family is excited to pilot the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, go hitch hiking with 999 happy haunts, fly on the back of a banshee or meet the main Mouse himself! Can someone tell me how the refresh method is any different than just checking availability for a 4th or more FP+? I've seen the sticky explaining how it is done. Seems to me it is just searching for a FP+ on the app.
Yep that's what is and you keep searching over and over until you find one. Why some people get all hot and bothered over this when they have the same opportunity to do it to is beyond me!

Who is "hot and bothered???"

Playing around with it, it’s kind of evil genius... I feel like I’ve seen more top tier rides than normal pop up. But I cannot snag them. Meanwhile, I can still get lower tier rides.

So Disney can offer a solution to the problem they created by selling FPs for the top tier rides. But people can still get the less popular rides at “4th” FPs. And it never seemed (to the public) that anything was taken away. Because you do still have a very slim, tiny chance at landing a top tier 4th FP.

Boo Hiss :(

I've been playing around trying to get JC which was pretty easy to get before. I can get it for 3 hours from now but any attempt to get it earlier fails. So even lower tier rides are now much harder to get. But yes, only people familiar with the system will know something has been taken away but I have to believe this will frustrate the casual user too. To be offered a time and not get it. That happened to me with ADRs the first year I went as an adult and it did not make me happy.

I too have found that I tend to see more top FP's than before...it just sucks when you find 5-6 FOP FP's and are only successful getting one of them.

My first take on this is that it’s a trade off between speed and convenience. If they lock the FP temporarily when offering it to, that slows things down at both ends, plus keeping the FP locked from other people while you decide and go through the confirmation process.

But maybe I’m not understanding the problem people are having.

It seems they took what used to be seamless and intentionally segmented it.

My guess is this will make it easier for them to insert new functionalities in between the “availability screen” and the “congratulations! confirmation screen”. Namely, a system check for paid “FP entitlements/booking eligibilty” much like MDE currently checks for ticket entitlements before advancing any farther into the booking process.

No. I selected POTC for 10pm. I am trying for an earlier time. Every time it shows me what I want and I select it. Then it says it isn’t available and assigns me a time that was later than the original one I had.

It’s maddening.

I have a friend in the park a right now who is beyond frustrated with this. Is it working better through the website?
