Call your shot (NBA)

This has been exciting but this is going to end on a negative I’m afraid.

I know the owners and gms are a major part of the team but I HATE when they hand the trophy to the owners first. Yes, it was your money, but it was the players blood, sweat, and tears that won you the trophy. Football does it too, and I don’t know if baseball does it. Hockey lets all the players touch it before the owners and staff get their turn.

Ok, I know there’s a whole thing about getting Kawhi, but I don’t know the details. Does anyone want to give me the cliffs notes? lol

Rich boys with their toys.

I thought it couldn’t get any worse. KD out. On second thought Klay’s back. With a limp though.
He just came back for the free throws so if it wasn't as bad as he thought he could come back. Turns out, he left on Crutches.

What a fun thing to wake up too! Managed to catch the very end of the game (well, through Twitter updates). BBC news had "Breaking News" to announce the win (and then explain who the heck the Raptors are!).

Game 6 for the Six.. 🏀🇨🇦❤️

Congrats Raptors! You held your composure & you did it! We the North forever.
Big ups to the Warriors, we could not have played a better team... you’ve been classy & you played your hearts out. Both teams so evenly matched and it was a thrilling series from start to finish!

Big celebration at home on Monday... wonder how hard it will be to get the day off? lol!

Not exactly. The Warriors are a much better team with a healthy Kevin Durant. It's not just that he's a skilled shooter, but that he has quickness and can basically shoot over anyone. And that he can defend taller players. Most of the predictions of the Warriors winning in 5 or 6 were premised on Durant being back by maybe games 2 or 3 and not getting injured again.

He thought that the Spurs medical staff was botching his recovery. They cleared him to play but his own medical team was telling him no. He was angry with Spurs management so they traded him. He's basically wants to play in LA for the Lakers of Clippers and the odds are that he'll sign with one of them as a free agent in the off-season.

I agree that's the whitewashed version. If I were Toronto, I would celebrate this championship to the fullest & not expect him to be there next season.

So we are to diminish the Raptors win because the Warriors had injured players out? Didn’t see that one coming... lmao
(fwiw Kawai was playing injured)

We played the team that was put on the floor.. actually allot of the time we out played the team on the floor. We played the hand that was dealt us & we’ll take the win with pride and gratitude

Congrats to the Raptors - they really earned this title, even going back to earlier series in the playoffs (including the 5 bounce game 7 winner by Kahwi).

News reports say that Klay tore his ACL on that play :( :( That's two Warriors now with year-long rehabs in front of them. :(

I have to admit, as a Cavs fan, I hadn't watched a lot of playoff basketball this season, but for whatever reason, I ended up watching all 6 games of the Finals this year. It was a really interesting series to watch as a (mostly) objective viewer. Yeah, I'm not going to deny I was rooting against the Warriors - it's human nature to root against the dynasty, especially one that beat your team often.

Can I like this post a thousand times ? And the Warriors won all their championships against full rosters of healthy players , right ?
I’ll repeat your sentiment .. Basketball isn’t just your allstar line up and if you don’t have an answer for a multitude of scenarios , you will be outplayed .

I understand that. Wear it with pride. However I just don't accept that the Raptors couldn't have played a better team. Injuries prevented that. Not much different than the Cavs in 2015 losing Kyrie Irving in game 1 and not having Kevin Love. It is what it is.

That was the case for the 2017 and 2018 Finals pretty much. The 2015 and 2016 Finals had several key players unable to play at one point or another.

This will be every warrior fan now. But they lost because.... so frustrating

Congratulations to Toronto and all of Canada.

I watched most of the 4th quarter and the last 60 seconds seemed to be a comedy of errors that took 15 minutes to complete.

I'll probably regret asking this question after reading the answer. Why do the Raptors have "North" on their uniforms and the Warriors "Town." Is that their normal attire or just for the playoffs or finals? And I thought the Raptors color was purple, not red.

Another thing I don't understand: Golden State scores a basket, Toronto gets possession of the ball and decides to call a time out. Fine. But not only does Toronto get a breather, they get to inbound the ball more than halfway down the court instead of resuming from under GS's basket. Sounds pretty bush league to me.

Fantastic night.

Got home about 2:30 am.

@ronandannette

Was in the thick of the crowds. The police, can't say enough about them. Fantastic job where I was. They stayed back and just let everything go (just ticky tack things like hanging high on traffic lights and flare type fireworks - red solo cups etc). Wonderful job by them. Our police chief, who I don't always love, said it all week - have fun - we get it but if a few want to cross a line we have to do our job. Apparently a tour bus had a rough time of it, but I didn't see it.

Still floating. How wonderful!

Accept that those were big breaks and move on. I totally get that about the 2015 Finals where Irving and Love were out.

As a Warriors fan it does suck that we had to play without one of our key players but we also won the championship WITHOUT/BEFORE we had KD, so there is no reason to believe they couldn't now. I DO NOT think the fact that we were a man down takes away anything from the Raptors win.
