DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Morning folks.
Full day of work today but should be interesting.

How are you able to function??
I have the same coffee maker that they use in Victoria and Alberts (the Cona D), which I'm using, but it's effectively filter/press pot strength, and is a total faff to make and clean. I've been drinking Espresso since I was around 15, so it's probably more grammatically correct to call this the Espresso Drought of 2019. There are also a few coffee shops up the road, but I'm not a huge fan of store made coffee. I'm pretty sure when I check the definition of First World Problems, my posts will be quoted.

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you're all properly caffeinated. Dan, hang in there on that front.

Disney+ was fantastic on the plane. Downloaded a bunch of stuff for the boy and the Mrs, plus some stuff for me, and it made the 5 hours go by real quick. Happy to say that I’m really enjoying Disney+ and the Disney shareholder in me enjoys it more.

I've been digging The Mandalorian so far.

Now I’m just debating which Avenger I would be. As a kid it would be definitely Iron Man. As for now, if Cap came with Agent Carter, then done deal.

::yes:: Agent Carter is my movie crush.

No wonder he stayed in the 40s, if you had Peggy in the house you wouldn't need the internet.

::yes::

Hey, Dads! So an update on my job situation: I've had an informal interview yesterday right after lunch, and I was led to believe that they aren't going to consider anyone else until they hear from me that I still want the job. When I mentioned this to the wife after work, she asked me if I said yes, and I said, "Not yet, don't want to seem too desperate or eager" She didn't like that answer, but that's how I've always done it...make them want me more. Don't know the time frame on getting the job, but I was under the impression that if/when I say "Yes, I'm still interested." it'll happen quickly...unless they decide to play games and hold off. I was told that they wanted to add another person to the department (on top of adding me) next February, so I would think this could happen in the next two weeks. Keep everyone posted.

I'm hoping this works out for you! Now, my hope plus $8 will get you a small coffee at Starbucks (there's a tip for you, Dan), but still.

Had a phone interview with a position at Disney on Monday. I thought it went well, but I haven't heard anything back.
Had an actual interview on Wednesday with a different company and it went very well. Realized I hadn't asked about the salary, so I called back and found out they liked me enough they were putting together an offer. Said I'd hear something from HR yesterday or today. It wasn't yesterday, so hopefully today.
Have a phone (video) interview with another place on Tuesday.
Also have an application in with Kennedy Space Center and a former co-worker recommended me for a job where he works.

Good luck, we're all counting on you! Sorry the old new job didn't quite work out.

Yeah... Captain Oblivious here! Oh wait... that name's taken (@Captain_Oblivious ). lol.

Hey Don! Good to hear from you. Even if it was just to steal my handle.

The plan is to rent a car and drive back and forth. we even picked up another Dis Dad as a passenger on the way back. Mini Disdad meet in the cruise if anyone wants to join in.

So which DIS Dad was hitchhiking?

Good luck Doc. Is the Space Center job an astronaut position?

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I've been there... and to most of the other States. Alaska gets knocked off the list in the spring. I should do a pin map like Mark does.

Hey, you're getting to Alaska before me! Where are you going?

So, I get 4 years to not have to worry about getting laid off or pension cut. I know I'm working to December 2020, and should be able to finish out my 27 without issue now.

And there was much rejoicing.

The kids are doing Santa's lists today, I think we have one more year with the boy. The Curly haired ninja did me a favour though, she put a Domino's pizza as her no.2 choice. So I can get one of the presents delivered in 45 minutes for 4.99, halfway through a Bears game. Even better, the boy has put down 2 Lego box sets, so Santa might be in for a cheeky 50% discount.

Thank God for kids with terrible taste.

That cheeky Lego discount would have come in handy for this household. Hope my pain makes your Christmas bonus a little better! Or at least gets you enough for some coffee.

Morning folks...
Traveling today for work, so not a fun reason.
Also miffed that my flight is right when the CFL Western Final is being played and my team's in it. Dang it!
Oh that sucks, sorry.

Happy Sunday. Put in my day at work. Home now to watch football, although I've done something to upset the Mrs, which means I'm going to get it later, and not in a good way.
Ruh roh George.

It's been 12 hours and no new pictures?
I tried to help!

I was thinking it looked like one of those seat belt tools, but it's too small. Since I've seen now what it is, I won't tell you my what my guess was.

My team's going to the Grey Cup! (Canadian Football championship game)

Sorry. Just a little excited.... carry on.
Was going to ask you how it turned out even though you had to miss it. :woohoo:

Morning boys from the mother country. The coffee drought goes on. We are at Day 10.
Sorry for you. For me, since I don't like or drink coffee, I wouldn't even notice. ;)

Good luck, we're all counting on you! Sorry the old new job didn't quite work out.
Me too. I regret leaving the other job I had before this one....I was enjoying and it was good money. You know what they say about hindsight.

Hey, you're getting to Alaska before me! Where are you going?
Technically, I beat you easily (was there in '90), but I was there (sorta) not by choice. Drove the Al-Can highway and that was an experience, but at least I have a couple cool (or ridiculous) stories I can tell my grandkids.

Time to slum with the rest of us. Maybe you could just send your assistant out to fetch you some.
Nah, he's busy. Maybe I'll send my assistant's assistant. Garappolo did a job for you yesterday....

Thankyou for you custom, sir. Have a great day. Have you seen the Hidden Side stuff? That's pretty cool.
Now, my hope plus $8 will get you a small coffee at Starbucks (there's a tip for you, Dan), but still.
There's not much of a tip in $8 after a Starbucks Coffee my friend, but every little helps.

I finally picked the right QB to start.

I'm not sure if this is another joke or you're serious now. Some people call them fun bags, but I suppose you could call 'em milk bags too. Then I looked up milk bag and I see y'all actually drink your milk that way.

I'll confess...it kinda does....
It seems less convenient than plastic jugs and I'm not sure I see the benefit. It might be slightly less plastic than a container, but it's still plastic and still has to be recycled, right? I suppose it's different if you've grown up with it, but having not done so, it seems more work for little/no benefit.

Less plastic and the metric system are the reasons. When we switched over to the metric system, manufactures of plastic jugs realized they weren't set up to easily create the new sizes. It was cheaper to simply use the bags then convert the manufacturing lines.

Interesting. I wouldn't think metric or not would matter...I mean we have 1 liter and 2 liter soda/pop here and it doesn't stop people from consuming soda.

I guess .9, 1.9 liters or 3.8 liters wouldn't work as well in marketing or something.

We have them now. You can buy milk in 1, 2 and 4 liter plastic jugs; they just weren't readily available when the metric system was first introduced.
