Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER RESORT Information & Questions

OK, YAY!!! I'm going back HOME to 😍 POFQ 😍 for a split in early January (staying FIRST at POFQ, because... POFQ!) and then moving over to our favorite Deluxe, WL for the rest of our stay! Y'all, it's boats, beignets and big fun for this old rabbit!

So, it's time to ask, since Scat Cat's has had time to settle into it's new digs...

What do we think about it? Do we like the new space? Do we like the new musicians? Are the CMs happy?

I know that until I see it in person, I'm going to have a hard time really visualizing the changes - in my mind, every little thing is exactly as I left it, thank you very much! 🤣 We have always loved Scat Cat's; it's how we end most of our nights at WDW... sitting in the corner booth, eating something we grabbed from the Floatworks, and enjoying an Adult Beverage or two, and then happily listening to Jason & Billy on nights we were lucky enough to catch them. Literally one of my happiest places at WDW.

So opinions - if you have been, and seen the changes in person - what do you think? Thanks!

I think i would love to sit in the corner, nibbling, sipping and listening to some great music, sound like our kind of people!! Sadly, not arriving till mid-january, but anxious to read the replies you get. Enjoy your trip!!

First have a great trip. As for the new Scat Cat's it is ok IMO & DH's .It is dark just like the Ale & Compass lounge & the Enchanted whatever at the GF. There are no seats at the bar , from what we heard the bar itself it is temporary until they figure out the final set up. So sadly no chatting which we liked to do when they were slow.
The musicians were ok but jazz & Pop songs done with a jazz feel aren't our taste. Jason & Billy were more our style. Plus there are no TVs. If you want to watch a game it isn't an option even on the nights with no performers. Fortunately a 3 of the 6 nights we were there it was comfortable enough that Mardi Grogs was still open so that is where we had our nightcap. We also walked up to River Roost another night. We just went to Scat Cat's the last 2 nights of our trip when it was unseasonably cold. If it had been warm enough to sit outside we would have gone to Mardi Grogs or Muddy Waters .

Hmm. This is not encouraging! LOL I knew that they new musical style was very jazz-oriented; I guess I was hoping that it would be something that was just really outstanding, you know? I don't like dark, dimly lit places; I know they are probably leaning heavily into the French Quarter feel - dim & dark even on the brightest days - but there was nothing wrong with the way it was before, IMHO.

Forgot to add the old Scat Cat's is now the location where the beignets are sold. That improves the food court crowds during the morning rush hour.

Yes - I had seen this too! I'm glad to know that it is helping with the food court crowds; we were worried with so many people now coming to POFQ just for the Mickey Beignets (because OMG instagram!) that it was going to get out of control. But I can't help but feel that we maybe "saved" the Floatworks at the expense of Scat Cat's...

Maybe one of these times we will wind up in the corner together! 🤣 Sounds like fun! LOL😄

I will say that the chairs are more comfortable. I hope they will rework it , put in a few TVs and add a little more lighting. Not sure if the jazz club feel is going to work long term unless they get someone with a large following. We witnessed multiple families with young children come in,look around and walk right out.

And this may be a case where all of us who love POFQ so much need to start connecting directly - one-on-one - with management while we are there. Tell them *exactly* what we liked about the "old" Scat Cat's and what needs to change with the "new" version. I don't see them changing anything until they hear from enough Guests that are unhappy.

I hope that those families weren't going in and looking for the board games & puzzles that used to be stacked in the little cubby in the old Scat Cat's! It sounds like they wouldn't have been able to see to play with them anyway!

Personally, I had hoped that we would see *some* sort of nod to Princess & the Frog with perhaps a small, intimate TS (you know how Disney People are - the harder it is to get in, the more they want to!) and then ditch about half of the Arcade space for Scat Cat's. I know my POFQ history - that the original theming relied heavily on the Aristocats concepts, but this Resort is, and has been a natural fit for P&F/Tiana & Naveen ever since the movie came out. Someone needs to tell Disney they missed the boat on this one... but luckily for them, another one will be along, down at the dock, in about 20 minutes! 🙃

I've been saying that for years, but now the new lakeside "Reflections" resort/DVC location has snagged the idea of a Princess and the Frog themed restaurant away from the most obvious and perfect-fit location. Such a shame. [Disney Food Blog article]

We just returned from our first ever on site stay, and we chose POFQ and it was so wonderful! The room (building four), the beds, the beignets - omg the beignets!, the cm were all so so wonderful! It was so worth it to finally be in the Disney bubble. We didn't have to wait long for the buses to the parks. Only came across one grumpy CM and he was a bus driver for one of the parks, but we didn't let that hinder the trip. I have to say, I am so glad I brought my own shampoo and conditioner. I tried the Disney H20 shampoo and conditioner the first night and my hair was so dry afterwards. I cannot wait for the next time I am able to stay onsite. Maybe trying POR next time? Or a totally different resort. Who knows, but I am definitely thinking about planning our next trip already!

I have stayed at POFQ many times and for years my numerous visits were acknowledged always at check-in and often by a thank you note delivered to room thanking us for returning “home”. I noticed that the last visit and this visit (we are currently at the POFQ) there has been no acknowledgement of any kind so not sure if they no longer make the gesture or we have done something wrong....also this visit is my birthday and they definitely used to deliver a birthday card to the room. I was given a birthday button at check in.

They still do the Thank You note...we just stayed at POFQ before and after our cruise in November/December. I think the Thank You card was left on our second day of our second stay at the resort. With respect to the birthday card, I have stayed at other resorts and no acknowledgement however this past March we stayed at POFQ for my 50th Birthday and not only did I get a birthday card, but I also got a resort mug in a gift bag along with balloons....to say I was shocked when saw it was an understatement. I hope that the resort does something to acknowledge your birthday.

Well we checked out yesterday and are home now...never did receive a card but they have done several nice surprises for us in the past and maybe they figured they have done enough...which is fine but a card would have been nice

I stayed at POFQ 3 times in the last year and there was no acknowledgment of it at all.
