I'm already home from our 3 week trip -- had figured the darned thing would open before we left since you know, end of 2019 and all .. and yet I'm still stalking this thread because it has become an unhealthy obsession AND i want to be able to say "Space 2020, I knew you well when we were all led to believe you would open sometime before 2020 was a distant memory" The humour that is keeping this thread drifting along, Lost in Space, is a welcome distraction from the snow!!

I hope they don't have anything with peanuts...my child has peanut allergies!

Even if they do, Disney does an amazing job with food allergies. My older one is deathly allergic to peanuts and tree nuts and Disney is one of the few places where I really feel safe dining. While not as severe, I have issues with dairy and wheat/gluten and they also bent over backwards to make sure I had good food that was also safe.

True about DISNEY locations being awesome with allergy protocol but super sad for this wickedly difficult to navigate allergy person, this location will NOT fall under that protection since it's been announced that it's run by the Patina Group and they have a less than stellar record when it comes to safe meals :(

Doesn't Patina run other restaurants at WDW? I know they went all out for my daughter when we dined at Via Napoli.

6 years?!? It really isn’t that hard to get a reservation there. Have you tried the Touring Plans reservation finder?

I'm talking about getting one at the 180-day mark. I've never been successful. I do try for a bit with TP but after about a month or so I just move on because I'm not going to plan my whole trip around it.

We also go to WDW during the Halloween (week of Halloween) and Christmas season and because of all the parties, there are fewer time slots available for BOG dinner reservations, unless of course, you have a party ticket.

Yup they do! They just aren't as safe for some of us because they aren't bound by the same policies -- only a few on site that aren't and most are in World Showcase and Disney Springs. Most people with allergies will do fine, it's those of us who are well beyond the top 8 that run into trouble. I'm STILL going to try this one out though, even i can only have water, cause it will be SPACE WATER!

The funny thing...we have actually had more allergy blunders with the Disney owned restaurants. Thankfully, all issues were caught before there was a real problem, but I'm on my toes with all of it regardless of restaurant ownership.

(AP)--
Authorities connected with the rumored Space 220 restaurant at Epcot have reportedly leaked plans for a tele-transport system similar to the one used in the Star Trek universe. As a special booking category available at 220 days for AP holders, this "beaming" device will allow space travelers to not only eat reconstituted freeze-dried filet mignon, space suit soup, and moon dust mousse, but they can follow that with a light speed trip over to special seating at Rivers of Light. Further, Disney officials released that the Rivers of Light (or ROL) extravaganza has been transformed into a magical light saber show that takes place on Dagobah between Yoda and indigenous life forms of that swampy planet. Disney sources say that they are working on a way to keep the surcharge for the "interstellar meal and entertainment spectacular" at a moderate price point, roughly the equivalent of an Ultimate Disney Classics VIP Tour. Sources further said that guests should stay tuned for more news on Space 220 that should be forthcoming in the next several months.
