Hi it's me- you want some pretzel?- a sisters' Dec 2019 USO/WDW trip! new 1/24!

Merry Grinchmas!

After our unexpectedly thrilling ride on the carousel, we went in search of the Grinch.

We walked past the book store and decided to check in there because it's where we found him back in 2015.

Lo and behold, we didn't find the Grinch but we did find another friend hanging out and decided to say hi.

(You may notice my Universal refillable cup in my hand. Unlike at WDW where they can only be used at the resort, Universal sells them in the parks and you get unlimited refills on the day you purchase it. After that day, you can bring it back and pay a daily fee to reactivate it or you can pay by the refill. I had purchased it in October and brought it back. If you're a soda drinker like we are, it's definitely worth it and you can even fill it with iCEEs which is awesome on a hot day and really gets the value out of it!)

We weren't 100% sure who this Seuss character was, but some quick googling informed us he was Guy-Am-I (the man who Sam-I-am is trying to convince to try green eggs and ham). #themoreyouknow

We continued on with our search and found a line formed outside Gertrude McFizz Fine Feathered Finery and sure enough, that's where the Grinch was hanging out.

This is where the rain really worked in our favor. The line was only a few families long compared to the 45-60 minute waits we'd seen reported, we only had to wait 6.

And old Grinchy was just as sassy and fun as ever.

He asked us our names and was pleased with Kim - as he said "Perfect, nice and short, one syllable". And was unamused when I said Courtney. Too many letters he says lol. I told him I didn't pick it🤷‍♀️

After our meet, we walked through the gift shop attached and found another Christmas tree!

It was just about noon and the next Grinchmas show was starting at 12:30 so we didn't want to stray too far out of Seuss land. We decided to go get our cup refilled with an ICEE and then get in line for the show, hoping that we'd be able to wait under cover.

The good news is we were first in line for the next show. The bad news? We were waiting right out in the open.

Luckily, the most amazing team member was working and invited us to share her umbrella with her. She also told us that she and the others working the line had already spoken to their bosses about getting everyone in the theater as soon as they cleared out the previous show. She was seriously awesome and if I wish I knew how to give Universal TM's compliments because she was the best.

True to their word, they herded the audience out of the show as quickly as possible and let us start walking in around 12:10.

I told my sister it felt like walking through the queue to an HHN house, just with Christmas trees lol.

Going into the theater was a very organized process and the TMs led everyone to rows. Despite this, there were some (of course) who had to ignore the instructions and try to seat themselves, especially in the first two rows that they reserved and left empty. If we'd had alcohol with us, it would've made a great drinking game.

We had a perfect view of the stage.

Merry Grinchmas part 2

And the show started promptly at 12:30!

It was a very cute retelling of the Grinch story and our favorite part was the real live dog playing Max! He was so cute and well behaved.

At one point in the show, his antlers fell off and you could tell he wasn't sure what to do. He started barking and looking for them and trying to alert a human to his problem. It was adorable and became our focus for the show lol.

After the show, we decided it was time to head out of the park and hope that our room was ready so we could rest a little before the event tonight.

On our way back to the parking lot, hunger took over and we made a pit stop at Voodoo Donuts.

Kim had never been so I made her commemorate the moment with a photo in the chair.

The decor in here is amazing!

Oo look- another Christmas tree!

We made it back to the hotel around 1:45 and went back to the front desk to find out if a room was ready. It was the same lady who helped me earlier and she started going through the check-in process all over again lol. I tried to explain to her that we did this already and just needed a physical room but after a few questions, she finally realized 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. The good news was we had a room!

And once again, had a view of Volcano Bay!

We changed out of our gross, wet clothes and settled in to eat our donuts!

We each chose two donuts. The two on the left were Kim's picks. She chose the Little Pink (Raised ring dipped in strawberry flavored frosting and a smattering of round sprinkles) and The Loop (Raised yeast doughnut with vanilla frosting and Fruit Loops). I chose the ODB (Raised yeast doughnut with chocolate frosting, Oreo cookies, and peanut butter) and the Portland Cream (Raised yeast shell filled with Bavarian cream and topped with chocolate and two eyeballs, representing the vision of the great city of Portland).

They were all good and full of sugary deliciousness but the ODB was the standout to me.

Chocolate, oreos, and peanut butter? Yes please!!

:love::love::love:

We laid down and both passed out quickly to rest up for the rest of our day!

Sounds like it was an awesome experience with the Grinch and accompanying show. I would have been completely distracted by the dog on the stage, though! :rotfl:

Mmmm, Voodoo doughnuts. Good snack choice. Peanut butter and Oreos does sound pretty delicious.

We weren't 100% sure who this Seuss character was, but some quick googling informed us he was Guy-Am-I (the man who Sam-I-am is trying to convince to try green eggs and ham). #themoreyouknow

I have read that book too many times to count and I had NO idea that was that guy's name :P

Aw, what a good boy

And once again, had a view of Volcano Bay!

Nice! But what a gloomy day! I hope your weather improves!

:rotfl::rotfl:I knew that's the content you were here for!
It had everything! Drama! Comedy! Love!
100% not. A theme park would never do that.
Of course not. They're there just for people to have fun.
I kinda remember there being a poem you have to listen to- and if you follow the instructions, you don't get wet. It's been a lot of years since I actually was on it though!
I remember something too. It was in the UOG, I think.

After our unexpectedly thrilling ride on the carousel,
Children screaming, parents crying. Right.

Okay... so. When I read about the refillable mugs, I was turned off of them because it seemed that some mugs could only be filled at certain stations and others were off limits and... it just sounded too complicated or possibly not worth it.
You found it to be worth it, obviously. Was it at all complicated?
We weren't 100% sure who this Seuss character was
Good. I thought I was the only one.
he was Guy-Am-I (the man who Sam-I-am is trying to convince to try green eggs and ham).
Ohhhh...

Oy. If only you had some ponchos!

 How drunk did you want to be???
our favorite part was the real live dog playing Max! He was so cute and well behaved.
Aww!
At one point in the show, his antlers fell off and you could tell he wasn't sure what to do. He started barking and looking for them and trying to alert a human to his problem. It was adorable and became our focus for the show lol.
Double Awwwww!!
On our way back to the parking lot, hunger took over and we made a pit stop at Voodoo Donuts.
That'll fill that hole in your stomachs.

Pun intended.
It was the same lady who helped me earlier and she started going through the check-in process all over again lol.
:sad2:
We changed out of our gross, wet clothes and settled in to eat our donuts!
'Cause who wants soggy donuts??
We laid down and both passed out quickly
Sugar high. I get that.

The Grinch show looks so cute! And OMG those donuts look amazing - especially the choc/peanut butter/oreo combo. It looks like Universal has some really cool food options ::yes:: !

The Grinch meet is so fun! He came to one of our "work" meetings at Uni in Dec and was hysterical.
I really wanted to see the Grinchmas show the one year we were there that time of year but sadly missed out on it so we need to get back 🎄

I have not yet tried Voodoo Donuts. Any time I want something sweet on CityWalk I tend to go right for the macarons at Toothsome lol , I just can't pass them up! All I hear are great things about Voodoo so it needs to be on my list for sure.

Don't know how I missed the start of this, but have been a Grinch :P, but I've got my poncho and am ready for all the Disney Christmas.

It had everything! Drama! Comedy! Love!

Going straight to the top of the hit charts.

Children screaming, parents crying. Right.

The theme park baseline.

It definitely wasn't complicated! We bought them on our Fall trip and I think they were something around $14 each and you could fill it free all day. Then, each day after that you can pay $9 to reactivate it all day or pay per refill- I think they're like $1.50 each. If you're a soda drinker, it's 100% worth it. You can also refill it with ICEE which is great especially on the hot days. For this trip, we only brought back one to reactivate and my sister and I shared it so it was a great value to drink all day for $9.

Good. I thought I was the only one.

You're in good company!

Good come back!

Thank you- I try!

Oy. If only you had some ponchos!

Whose idea was it to leave them in the car anyway!
:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
 How drunk did you want to be???

:rotfl::rotfl:

'Cause who wants soggy donuts??

No one!

Sugar high. I get that.

That + 2 am wake up call = insane bedtime.

Oo I've still never made it to Toothsome. The plan was to go in May :(

Prob cause I have about 92 reports going on lol but thanks for joining! Glad you have your poncho- that makes one of us lol

Not a bad deal. Were there plenty of refill stations? Ever have trouble finding one?
