Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I'm realizing that:

1. People have an unrealistic idea of how far apart 6' is. It's really not that far, and there is most definitely 0 need to shout or even remotely raise your voice, for a 6' distance

This is true, but I could also say the opposite. Some people underguess on the 6 feet thing.

My personal guesstimate is just shy of two steps. I just try to imagine that, if I take two big steps, if I would be right about where they are....that's a good estimate to me.

Went to Target yesterday for the first time in a very, very long time. I saw a lot of people closer than 6 feet apart. One lady came up right behind me and reached over my shoulder for an item. I was quite perturbed.

If Disney requires masks, they will have to provide them. What happens if a mask flies off during a ride. Surely they won't kick them out. Masks do little to nothing to prevent the spread. Hand washing and sick people staying home do.
Well I assume under your scenario since Disney has to provide masks. If something happens to your mask they would give you another one.

Yep, looks to me like Disney is looking for lots of ways to help bring in some $. Between the NBA and now selling masks too :) I just can't help but believe they are hoping to get things opened back up as soon as possible. Definitely a nice touch too with the masks, giving first million away, helping their image along the way.
If Disney brings in the NBA there is no way the parks will open soon. You think they are going to put Joe Schmo in a “bubble community” with highly paid athletes? I find it much more likely they looking to offset tevenie losses by replacing park admissions with NBA money

Was she wearing a mask? Once the CDC said it was OK to wear, a lot of people here think that as long as they have a mask they can be right next to you.

I hope people that plan on wearing a mask bring dozens. People touch their mask several times a day. They sweat, cough and sneeze in them. They touch them and then they touch surfaces.

One mask is not meant to be worn for more than an hour or so. Showering a couple times a day and using hand sanitizer and washing hands is much more effective

I really don’t see WDW requiring masks not just for the reasons I listed above, but also for the facial recognition they have all over the park. Masks flying off on rides is another reason especially in a park like AK where it could endanger the animals.

Some psychologists have already cautioned social distancing and quarantines for extended periods could take a toll on mental health. (There has already apparently been a spike in domestic violence cases). Then you add in the fact people are becoming unemployed and losing all their savings and their homes. Remember during the great depression, there was a spike in suicides.

Humans didn't evolve in isolation. We are social animals. Even introverts get lonely. Experts are expecting in the coming weeks and months an increase in diagnoses of depression and anxiety-related disorders.

They have also been tracking cases of ppl seeking out therapists to cope with the onset of depression - it was bound to happen

As someone that lives in NY where its been mandatory to wear a mask in public for several weeks, I still hate putting it on. But I dont try to walk into the grocery store without it. It doesnt matter what it does, and doesnt offer protection wise, right now, people are seriously afraid of going out in public and catching the virus (though a lot of those people still do go out in public, but thats another story). If I’m making strangers around me feel more comfortable putting themselves in a safer positions in public by wearing a mask, I’m fine with it, for now. If my next trip to Disney still takes place and I’m required to wear a mask, I’m completely fine with that. But if we start getting into late 2020 or 2021 and we’re still required to wear masks everywhere, I’m going to start to take issue with it because its going to seem more like a way of life as a replacement for a vaccine that many people believe is never going to come to fruition.
I disagree. I live in NY as well and think wearing masks is ridiculous. I absolutely would not go back to Disney while a mask is required. People are loosing their minds. I am so sad that people are afraid of each other now! It’s depressing.
Just found out that my seasonal campsite was allowed to be open but if we step foot off our campsite we are required to wear a mask even while outside!I had been looking so forward to camping as an escape but now I don’t even wanna go anymore.

Maybe that is another reason they will start with just Florida residents as there is an easy indicator for how far 6' is that people from Florida are familiar with:

I was in Walmart today (in NJ, where they are required) and saw a guy in the parking lot wearing his mask around his forehead until he got to the entrance, when he finally pulled it down over his mouth and nose.

Lord, can you imagine what this will be like at Disney? 🤦‍♀️

The thing that a lot of people seem to forget when debating Disney policy is they are a business that needs to attract people to make profit.

Bottom line is if they were to require masks to be worn, which they won't, they won't make any money. No one would vacation there.

I heard the same thing about smokers a year ago. We know how that went.

I think, people will wear masks to go to Disney. I need to wear a mask to go to common areas at work. No big deal.

This is nothing like smokers.

I think your way off. There is only a small select group that are going to spend $1000's to hop on a plane to go to Disney and wear a mask.

Honestly, if there is something going on in the world wear I actually think I need to wear a mask I wouldn't be going on vacation anywhere.

People have such fanatical thinking when talking about Disney.

No one and I mean no one where I'm from is going to vacation somewhere where a mask is required.

I think there is a very decent possibility Disney was going to have to close down some resorts anyway. Maybe they re-accommodate guests to other locations or maybe they offer some special deal to people if they have to cancel their stay.

But, it wouldn't shock me if Disney shut down a resort or two and kept them for NBA players only.

She was, as was I. But still.

In another situation, we were standing in the little produce part of the Target. Which if anyone wasn't familiar, it's sort of a large are between two refrigerated shelves on each side. And, then in the middle there are 4 or 5 little islands of produce, bread, whatever. Think of it almost like the letter H.

There was a lady and I, far away from each other...I was on one end, she was on the other, viewing the refrigerated items...in one of the aisles. One side of the H, if you will. The other aisle, the other side of the H was completely empty. So, here comes a guy and his child completely unmasked. Now, he didn't need anything in either of these aisles or any of the islands in the middle. They were just passing through to get to the other side. But, instead of going through the other side of the H...or going down to another empty aisle to use it.....he and his unmasked child pushed their cart right behind us in our aisle, all the way through. It was 5 seconds, no big deal, I didn't make any contact with him. But still....if other areas are empty, why not take the extra step or two to walk down a completely clear lane? Idiots.

One thing I thought about, and this kind of comes back to supply and waste...perhaps instead of recommending masks all the time, they could have masks available at the beginning of each attraction/queue. And then, somewhere to dispose, right after the attraction? Essentially, masks would be required on attractions only. This would cut back on all of the cross contamination that would happen with people touching and re-using the same masks all day. But, if you think of rides like 7DMT where people's mouths are open and screaming, and then the train moves you into the air space where those aerosol droplets could still be...maybe it would be like....sanitize hands, take a mask and put it on, then you get off the ride, dispose mask in a receptacle, and re-sanitize hands.

I realize the number of masks needed would be astronomical, and again, waste. But, it may be the best option. At least it would hopefully keep things contained to each individual attraction, and not people fussing with their masks all over the park, then touching a trash can or something else.

Would I wear a mask? That depends on the deal I’m getting how many people are they letting into the park and what is and is not open. I don’t want to wear one but under the right circumstances I probably would.

So what you're saying is you can be bought for the right price? LOL

Are the overseas Disney parks still closed? i feel like the US parks won't open until after the international ones do, since they closed before us

Disney to stay closed while Universal down the road opens? I doubt it.

All this mask discussion is really wearing me out. Any chance we could change the subject, I dunno, maybe something like how many vacant urinals should we leave between folks? I'm thinking one or two at the most, but is that six feet? Anyone have a blueprint on how far apart the urinals at Disney are? It's all in the details afterall.
