***Official September 2020 Thread***

I have been debating about a rental car for this trip and thought about asking everyone’s thoughts and see these posts...great timing 😁

I am still trying to figure out if a rental car is something we want to try this time because I REALLY did not want to drive and I didn’t want to pay for parking. However, we are starting our trip at Orlando cabana bay, then the swan and then Jambo house dvc. So we will need transpo from airport to UO, UO to swan and swan to Jambo. Also there is the lack of food at Jambo. usually we take Disney transpo and Uber. I am pretty sure Uber is a no go for us this time. We also plan to ride mde from akl to mco (this is a family request). Thoughts?

I too have decided on a rental. Just trying to decide off airport nearer disney and ride ME or rent at airport. Probably will just rent from MCO and forget the ME, might just be easier.

We will have a car but I just can’t decide if we want to do the buses or not..... We normally park our car and never see it until we leave..... We like being dropped off right in front of the parks..... I’m wondering just how much extra walking it is if you drive yourself.......

I think the extra walking with a car is a drop in the bucket compared to how much walking you are already doing.

This is true....which is exactly why I hesitate driving. Especially end of day when it takes all my energy to get myself to leave ;) that’s why I said I wonder how much walking it actually adds I have no clue, we have never drove to a park

I'm so glad it helped! I get the "hot flash" - right there with you lol. In Universal there was one day around 1pm that I looked at the family and said "I gotta get this mask off" because I felt waves and waves of heat rolling over me. I just went into a restroom quickly and into a stall and took the mask off ( interesting that we go into a public bathroom stall to BREATHE lol!) and then we took an afternoon break. We returned around 4:30 and I was all good! And July was hotter than when we were at Uni in June so I think I was possibly just more used to the mask? I do like the sound of those cooling face wipes and may look into getting some :) Keep planning- the little we have to- and enjoy your trip!
About the wipes. I mixed up the ingredients last night and poured over plain face wipes. Tried them out today and uh.... they left my skin STICKY. I'm thinking its the aloe. I only added the aloe bc I followed a "recipe" I found online. So I'm going to remake them using just the witch hazel and 3 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil and see how that goes. I think you can buy them already as "cooling wipes" (Neutrogena?) but I had all the ingredients already so opted for the DIY version.

I have 8 day park hopper plus tickets for 2 adults/2 children purchased from UT.com in January for $2130.88. On the Disney site I can only purchase up to 7 standard tickets for the same time period for $1952.68. At first I was going to try to get a refund but the difference is not worth the hassle. Trying to get 8 day tickets from Disney may actually end up costing more than I paid for the PH+ tickets.
I called Disney last week to try to get a refund on the hopper portion of our four 8 day adult tix that I purchased from UT. The CM was very nice but really didn't seem to know what she was doing in this situation (I was later told that Disney is shuffling CMs around and that quite possibly she came to "Ticketing" from another department and wasn't familiar with the hopper refund process.) Anyway, she offered me just $40 for the hopper add-on for each tic. I declined and called UT. Danny, one of the UT owners, called me yesterday and advised me to go to Guest Relations BEFORE we use the tix for the first time. They will know how to do a proper refund in the form of a Disney Gift Card. He said if you try to modify or cancel and re-buy the tix you take a chance losing your Park Reservations. (yikes! Disney IT)
So on our arrival to BWV we will take a walk over to the new Guest Relations and (hopefully) settle things so we are all set before our first park day.

I honestly don't think it will add much especially in September. Parking is already greatly reduced compared to normal. In Sept. there will be even more parking sports available. If you want an actual number of feet/miles you can use Google Maps to get a rough idea of the distance from the front gates to parking lots.

Park hopping is pretty much moot at this point. There are no longer enough park hours to make it realistic. September folks, what are you planning to do in the evening to pass the time?
Yesterday I called an made ressies at Fantasia Gardens for mini-golf after our AK day, since it closes the earliest.
We want to use WDW transportation to go to other resorts QS and have late dinners after park closing.
--Someone reminded me to check transportation schedules. After dinner, don't want to get stuck finding out the busses back to our resort have stopped running for the day!
Spend more time exploring and taking in details of the resort(s) where we are staying. (both of which are new to us)
More pool time, even if it's just the quiet pool, if the feature pool is too crowded.
I would love to do little in-room "spa" type things with DD20 in the evenings. (Scrubs, masks, hair treatments, foot products).
--I never take time for that stuff at home.
Reading on the balcony with a glass of wine.

I'd be really interested in hearing the ideas of others!!!

I would think Disney Springs buses would still be running, so you could ride the bus to DS and either hop in line back to your resort or hang out at DS for a bit.

We haven’t rented a car for a Disney vacation in 20 years but we are doing it this time. With so much in flux and so many unknowns we just want it for the flexibility. We can drive to the parks and don’t have to concern ourselves with buses. If we can’t find food after hours we can go offsite or go to a grocery store. We love staying in the bubble but the bubble is getting some holes in it.

yes that's in my notes as a back up plan.... also Lyft or Uber if we're extra hot and cranky and want to be back at the room ASAP

I looked up Paging Mr. Morrow on y'all's recommendation and love him! I love that he does stuff outside of Disney...the antique store, themed houses, etc...and yes, his enthusiasm and pure happiness of being in the park and in what he does just makes him a great vlogger to watch.
I really enjoy his videos as well. I’m wondering if anyone knows where he is from originally? He has a unique accent and I always wonder where it comes from.

Doing the same here. Except we will wait until the next morning before we enter the park.

I think Uber and Lyft will be good friends of mine after this trip. Mom is in a wheelchair.

I checked my rental reservation and prices dropped $20. Plan to keep checking and hopefully it will continue to drop in price! (Car Rental)

Thanks for this! I am so NOT a DYI type but I love the idea of the peppermint essential oil; let me know how the 2nd batch work out!

A few others have mentioned Uber/Lyft so thought I would say that we used Lyft quite a few times last month and it was fine. We always use Lyft often on our trips so this was no different; the drivers all wore masks as they did on our Universal trip in June and some had hand sanitizer in the back for passengers to use. No sitting in the front passenger seat either FYI.

Would a Tuesday or Friday be better for a DS day? We want to take a day and shop and eat, and figure going while the parks are open will be better. I'm going to cancel one of our Epcot days, since it seems like we can get through and enjoy it all in one day.

If you're going during the day I don't think it'll matter much unless it's the Friday before Labor day and by your ticker I don't think it is? We only went at night last month, Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday. Saturday of course was the worst and Tuesday was fine; Sunday not bad. But the days reportedly seem to be ok.

Anyone else excited about the agreement with the Actors Equity Union? So hoping some of the shows are back for our trip! We had a wonderful day in AK last month bur really missed FOTLK and getting some of the HS shows back would certainly help crowds. And maybe the Citizens of Hollywood will be back! Fingers crossed.......
