I came because I wanted to and had some free time off work hence the “other” option in your poll. Secondly, don’t be cringy because you didn’t like my answer.

It's not that I didn't like your answer. Your answer was condescending, not in the spirit of the topic, and generally nasty. Not as nasty as some I've seen on the boards though. I noticed you didn't answer any of the questions that I asked about "dangerous" activities, so I will assume that you generally don't do dangerous things but relish in name calling at this time.

I voted "Other" for a few reasons:
  1. because we had to reschedule our Disneyland trip 5 or 6 times and then cancel it altogether.
  2. because Disneyland doesn't even have a reopening date yet.
  3. because 1 of our Disneyland reschedule dates would have been over our 25th wedding anniversary.
  4. because I had a double mastectomy a little over a year ago and I want to celebrate being frickin' ALIVE.

Congratulations! Here's to many more cancer-free years.

I went because I had use-it-or-lose-it work vacation time that was about to expire. Plus my mom passed away so I didn't want to spend it sitting around the house brooding about it. I'm glad I went, I thought Disney did a great job with mask compliance, temperature screenings, and social distancing.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I hope your happy place eases some of you sorrow.

As Florida residents, we usually go to WDW several times a year, but this year we were not planning on going. We had 3 non-Disney trips cancelled this year. We are sick of staying at home and being afraid. We are seniors, with none of the associated risk factors. We are not telling anyone we know that we are going because we don’t want any well meaning lectures. We love the EPCOT F&W Festival, so even if we only get to do that, it will be a treat.

I can totally appreciate feeling like that you just have to live. I also appreciate how you were able to convey that without denigrating, berating, or judging anyone else. It's all about our personally choosing what's right for our families as guests. I had been trying to convince my mom to come for her first trip before Covid hit. She and my step-dad have risk factors, so I didn't feel comfortable trying to convince them after they initially said no. I am hoping things improve, so that I can take her.

Taking advantage of the extremely low crowds. Went over Labor Day and had a blast. Did everything we wanted to do between opening and 2:30pm at each park we visited.

Looking forward to a similar situation in November.

I don't know if the crowds will be low in November, but Labor Day weekend will definitely give you the right perspective. Have a great time.

We were scheduled for a cruise sandwich - 2N AKJ/3DC/2N SSR. The cruise part was cancelled by DCL. I really wish they would've released their fall schedule before we had to reschedule but we booked for April '21 and something tells me that isn't going to happen. Meanwhile when DCL cancelled the cruise portion of our November trip there was no availability for the 3 nights in any DVC and WDW venues available were not our preference so we booked the Dolphin - which is slated to open 'early November' and we arrive on 11/4. The Dolphin has already dropped their pricing by 40% so we did get a new lower price. I am hoping it will be open in time or I guess we're gonna be at the Swan. Oh well, new experience and everyone says the Swan rooms are larger. Meanwhile my BIL booked the Dolphin because he was booked post-cruise at Animations and there wasn't 3N available at Animations at the time. We're all curious how their vacation will be handled because Animations is not open yet. Interesting but it's WDW or BUST.

We did reschedule our May '20 vacation for March '21 - same place and length.
We are planning to reschedule our Sept '20 vacation for Oct '21 - different venue and longer time

We were supposed to do a DCL cruise in July but moved it to July 2021 after it was canceled. Since our room was rented DVC points, we decided to go ahead with the WDW and Universal Orlando parts of the trip. Here's hoping to good cruising next year. Never stayed at Swan/Dolphin, but I would like to sometime.

I am so doubting the cruise will happen that I've already booked a DVC 'JIC' reservation. If DCL cancels, I'll contact Disney and asked them to combine the reservation with the pre-cruise night stay at the same venue and cancel the post-cruise stay. LOL

Because I can. I do live locally, but even if I didn't I still would come. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 36, my dad died of cancer in his 50's, (I'm 43) my husband works in the entertainment industry, he could not have a job tommorow. My experiences have taught me to live for today, because tomorrow isn't promised.

I am a pass holder and planning to continue being one.

Jennifer

Due to several DVC trips being cancelled and therefore having excess points to use we booked late Nov to early Dec. Also hoped the crowds would be low. And chose the time we did so we could come home and self quarantine for 2 weeks before spending time with family over Xmas.

We always go to WDW in early to mid December with our grandsons who live in California. They are unable to go with us this year due to the pandemic but DH and I decided to go anyway. We both really need a break away from our jobs. I have been working from home since mid March which has been really challenging in some ways and very isolating. Looking forward to and planning our trip is what is helping me hold on to my sanity.

I’m going because I need to get out of my house and the general area for a few days, and the Disney bubble looks like the safest place to go where there’s still things to do (granted, not as many things as usual, but still more than anywhere in MN)

Well, we just cancelled our trip for next week. So bummed. We really wanted to experience WDW during this crazy and unprecedented time. Then Florida opened up, no restrictions. Even being inside "The Bubble" didn't feel right.

The vacation was feeling more stressful than a vacation should.

We, too, had rented DVC points for part of our trip. We were able to transfer/rebook those points to a family member that lives in Orlando. He will be enjoying 4 glorious days at Beach Club Resort. The rest of the trip were booked on our own DVC points so that just went back into our account.

Coming because we've already had two trips cancelled (last November for illness, and May for COVID). I booked this November back in the late spring when COVID numbers were better in the northeast and hadn't started to spike elsewhere. I was hoping for lowish crowds and good weather. I also booked AS Movies, which is closed for the foreseeable future, and 2021 prices for Pop are ridiculous for a value resort. If we don't go in November, it's going to be a much more expensive trip.

I still might not go, though. If the crowds stay high, the shows stay closed, and it looks like we'll spend our whole trip waiting in lines, I'll cancel. I'm also going to be watching COVID trends very carefully. Florida is still on the quarantine list for my state. The state's policy has changed to allow for a negative COVID test in place of quarantine, so that's an option, but I need to make sure DD's school doesn't have additional stipulations. I'll take her out for a week, but not for 3 weeks if she has to quarantine before returning to school.

I'm going in November and I had rented non-refundable DVC points back in January. I could eat the money and not buy park tickets and get a refund on my flight, but I'm opting to go.

The reason I'm going ahead with the trip is that the risk is not going to go away anytime soon, and I don't perceive the risk as being that great.

We were originally supposed to go to Japan next month, so since we had the time off we canceled all the Japan stuff and booked WDW instead. We've always meant to visit but never gotten around to it before now (mainly because of the time involved to have a trip where we could reasonably see everything we wanted... our "vacations" are usually just a few days).

We are hoping to make it to Japan in 2022. I hope you get a redo on your Japan trip.

A trip to Japan was supposed to be our son's college graduation gift. Now postponed indefinitely, but we're hoping to be able to take him by 2022.
