Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

What type of room? We normally book standard and have stayed in all three areas. I like Cabanas the best, personally, but we also drive and don't take the bus. Casitas is nice when you depend on the bus.

I see people mentioning "preferred" but I don't know which ones are considered preferred. The last time we went we stayed in the buildings near the lobby area. But I don't even remember what those were called.

EDIT: So are people mostly being booked in the Cabana's?

Preferred rooms are a room category you have to book. They're in Casitas buildings 1 and 2, which are closer to the building that has the quick service in it and the gift shop. They used to be close to the lobby too, but are now just a bit further away because the lobby is in the tower. If you book a preferred room, you'll be in Casitas 1 or 2. If you book any other type of room, you could be in any section of the resort. The tower rooms are their own booking category as well.

You cannot book Cabanas. You can book a standard or water view room and then have them note on your reservation that you'd like to be in Cabanas, but that is never guaranteed.

The Casita's are currently closed due to the NBA thing aren't they? My wife was thinking more people were being put in the Cabana's than the Rancho's right now (Feb 27th trip). Wondering at the moment what the possibilities are although it's not a huge deal to me.

Yes, that's my understanding. I'm not clear as to where they're putting people who had preferred rooms booked.

I had reservations for a standard room for our upcoming trip. I had great deal at $180/ night with my pass holder discount. Got a call from guest services Wednesday night offering to upgrade us to Grand Floididian at no additional charge. So of course I took it. My goal is to stay at every resort on property and GF is a bit out of my price range so I’m super excited to get to stay there. It looks like I’m getting a theme park view room too. First time I’ve ever had a room upgrade too. Just wanted to let everyone know because I had gotten the heads up about the upgrades from this thread a couple weeks ago so I wanted to let you know it is still occurring.

That is wonderful for you. Is the monorail operating currently from Deluxes to MK (excluding Poly obviously as it is being refurbished)?

MJ

We will be there March 1st to the 8th in 2 standard rooms and requested Cabanas 8C. I know the G League wraps up around 3/11 but do the teams that are eliminated along the way still stay at the resort in the bubble till the end or do they pack up and go home, leaving just the finalists at the hotel? Just trying to gauge how many teams will still be there around March 1st. Its just a curiosity thing and I know it won't impact our trip either way. Thanks.

MJ

With the caveat that we don’t really know and I’m just speculating, it seems likely to me that once you’re out, you’re out. That’s how the real NBA league happened last year. Even though this leagues season is shorter, I’m sure by that point the players/coaches/staff just want to get the heck out of there and back home with their friends/families.

Yep - the Resort Monorail is operating as usual, other than Poly as you note. And the social distancing/cabin limitations currently in-place (which for any of us who have ever been on a stinky hot monorail jammed with others... it’s actually not a bad thing!).

Parking lot appeared decently full at GDT.

It’s interesting, I was looking at @bioreconstruct’s recent aerials over the weekend and noticed how ‘full’ AoA and POP’s parking lots were. Not sure exactly when taken, but I assume within the last week. Not packed by any means, but definitely no lack of cars all over both properties.

Hope you are enjoying your trip!

In case anyone is wondering Disney is not spacing out guests within the hotel. I have a connecting room and there are absolutely people in the other room. I shoved a towel under the door out of an abundance of caution.

Went to Dahlia Lounge last night and half the screen covering Toledo was open. Was going to snap a pic on my way out but someone put the screen back. There appeared to be a bunch of little social distances table signs lined up in the middle (sorry for bad quality but they were definitely there). This could mean something or it could mean absolutely nothing (Cafe Rix at CSR and Casey’s in MK have been prepped for months but not opened). There was no other preparation that I saw in Toledo’s.

Lol, probably the same “prep” they did for when I saw signs on the tables in Chronos Club back in November.

At the time I assumed (key word) that either 1) Disney had told their teams to prep everywhere just in case and then later made operational decisions or 2) it was leftover from the NBA’s use. Who knows of course!

Thanks for the live reports! Curious if it will be more rideshare or buses for you today.

I have a question, if you are staying in the Tower (standard view) do they have the round magnifying mirrors at the sinks like in the Casitas? I found my answer.

Do any of you know how long the NBA players will be there? We have a Casitas room in early April, so I'm wondering if that may have any impact..

got to AK bus stop at GDT around 7:10, 1st bus came around 7:25 could only take two parties (I know it was first bus because someone had been there since 6:45am). Driver said would call for another bus so I waited. About 20 mins later next bus showed and could only take 3 parties, luckily I was #3. On our way out I saw another bus pulling in so must have been the one they called for.

I waited today as it’s my second AK day so I’m more patient. (And rideshares were in demand and wouldn’t arrive for like 15 mins 😂). My conclusion is, as many others have said too and is sadly still accurate, if you’re staying GDT and want to be amongst the first in the parks rideshare/drive. Don’t bother trying your luck with buses you will probably lose.

I'm reading that El Mercado is once again "open" for dinner hours, is that true? Is it only weekends?
