Shocked you haven't had one yet.
How's the jet lag?
Most of the places here have currywurst
Will try one, but not a big curry fan, so jury's still out as to whether I'll like it.

Friday, I was exhausted, so I just took.one.of the closer places I *thought* was authentic German food. Turned out to be a burger joint. Quite a good burger, but not what my tastebuds were ready for. The bier with it was great.

Yesterday, many places were closed and when I got to the big downtown area, it was hard to find anything. They had burgers, pizza, doner kababs(had to look up and evidently quite popular here), Chinese, Mediterranean, Irish pubs, but very few what I could consider German. I guess, considering, I'm in Germany, they don't label them as German restaurants. :lmao:

Today, wasn't feeling it for making the long jaunt downtown....well really, it's the walk back that sucks. Not sure if I already posted here, but mostly uphill on the way back to the hotel and had a quite chilly headwind, so the walk back was slow and not the highlight of the day.

So, been staying at the hotel and unpacking, finishing paperwork, searching for houses/apartments and otherwise getting ready for work tomorrow.

Have the sports network in in the background and every once in a while, hear a word I didn't already know, but could figure out based on context, so also learning while doing the not so fun stuff.

Will venture out later for dinner....probably the burger place again since it's more a 5 minute walk vs. a 45-60 minute walk

Really! Huh. I don't think I even saw that once last I was there (2004?)

True... not often you see a burger joint (here) labeled "USA restaurant".

Ugh... they should change that so it's downhill both directions.

Huh! That's how my dad learned (sort of), but in reverse. He came here only able to speak German and learned English by going to the movies.

You need to figure out the excellent public transit, there.

Just tried it at the hotel...

True story.

Yeah, I know, but should have a rental car tomorrow, so wasn't worth the effort when I wouldn't need soon. I will figure out the trains though. Planning a trip to Hamburg soon to check out minatur wunderland and maritime museum.

It was good to have Doc join us on Zoom last night (this morning). The biggest takeaway was that Doc does know and eat real gravy. Good times. :-)
It was good.

I've always eaten REAL gravy in many forms (brown, chicken, turkey, sawmill, sausage) even though certain people falsely believe there's only one.

Hey, Guys! Just a quick stop to say hey. So....Hey. Had a pretty good weekend. Did some more cleaning/organizing and then went to a birthday party for the DSiL, and ate way to much. Otherwise, all is well. Doc, nice to know that you're settling in ok. Looking forward to hearing about all the adventures. Well, off to studying....nope, just got a call, heading into work now. Have a good day, guys.

TTFN

Hmm...yeah, I think I might be a little leery of that combo as well.

Come try our authentic American food! We use genuine pig snouts in all of our hot dogs.
