Spring Surprise (March 31-April 3rd 2022)

Yea, I’d like to know that too?
My 10miler bib is 58xx and I’m not a fast dude at all…..

Looks like 10 miler bibs are 100 - 8000+, Challenge bibs start in the 20000 range. I think 10 K starts in the 30000 and 5k is 40000.

Hmmm...Interesting that my bib# is 80XX but had a proof of time much faster than others with bib#'s under 8000. Should I be worried about my start group or is the number system not all sequential? With a 10K POT of 42:53 I should be in the S1 start group.

Sunrise Surprise Bib #s

5k solo bibs = unknown
10k solo bibs = 7049 bibs
10 miler solo = 8415 bibs
Challenge bibs = 4041 bibs

10k runners = 7049 + 4041 = 11,090 bibs
10 miler runners = 8415 + 4041 = 12,456 bibs

As always mentioned, not all bib numbers are assigned. So the numbers above should be viewed as a maximum and not the actual number of participants.

Is there anything we can gather from the bib number as far as corral placement, I'm doing the 10 miler?

It's safe to say that it'll be close to something like this:

658173

According to this Facebook pacer info, there are four starting groups for the 10 miler.

658174

So, it looks to be something like this:

s1 = POT
s2 = 1:31-1:45 estimate
s3 = 1:46-2:15 estimate
s4 = 2:16-2:40 estimate

So if you know what you put as your estimate, you have a good idea what starting group you'll be in.

To me, that reads as if there was an error with your POT. I'd be prepared to talk with runner's relations.

10K: 318XX with 12-14 estimated time
10 miler: 64XX with 2-2:15 estimated time

My 10K bib seems low, but I can always drop back if I feel I'm too far forward.
Getting excited!!

ETA: oooops, just realized I somehow put 10-12 for the 10K. Was probably in a rush since I snagged it a few weeks ago during one of the drops. Definitely won't be that fast, so I'll either hang out at the back of the corral or move back one.

That’s what I was getting at. Mine is 58xx and I couldn’t do a 42:53 if I rode my damn bike….
My # does put me mid-pack which is where I usually start (and finish too! Lol)

At the risk of sounding really stupid, are you all XX'ing out your numbers, or is the dis doing that?
Also, I've not run since Rundisney went to numbered corrals. Since there seem to be only 4, will those be broken up, or is it just how you situate yourself within S3 (if that is where I fall)? DH would be in S2 by Dopeybadger's chart above. We are never together in the corrals, so I'm not really concerned about it. I didn't submit times for either one of us.

So worst case scenario, its lightning and they cancel the race. Will it be an automatic refund or a credit for another race? I know there's been a couple that were cancelled/shortened in years past, just curious if anyone remembers what has happened in the past

We’re doing the XX’ing, not the Dis. And the starting groups will be broken up, they run a rope through the crowd (making sure not to break up any groups) when you get closer to the start line

Can we show the expo passes digitally on our phone? Or do we need to print it out?

I believe when the 17 half was canceled you could opt to run the marathon or transfer it to a later race if the half was still open I believe as I knew a few people who started the full and self pulled at the 13.1 mark and I know someone who transferred to dark side half

Is there is any way to talk (or email) them before the EXPO?

You can certainly try email or phone, but to my recollection runners relations will end up being your best bet. Doesn’t hurt to try though. But they’re likely busy with prep and may not get back to you in time for it to matter.
