Dads in the Ladies' Room?

Gender neutral wouldn't have urinals. Men aren't the only ones who may like to look at naked women. Some men are not attracted to women, some women are attracted to women. So, you'd be okay with a lesbian in there with you, but not a gay man? That wouldn't make sense to me at all. And what is the business that can't be taken care of in a stall if a man is nearby?

Urinals are an efficient use of space and water - especially the kind that don’t flush. Heck - trough urinals work really well although new building codes often don’t allow them.

Leaving out urinals is just going to make the wait longer in a high demand situation. However, I haven’t seen anything like an arena or stadium switch. I have seen portable toilets set up, and those typically have a urinal built into the wall.

After seeing both sexes poop and pee all over the street, nothing would bother me seeing a woman in a man's bathroom or vice versa. At least they are using a bathroom.

Haha! Do you live in Portland? I had a carload of teen girls the other day and someone was pooping on the street. I told them not to look, which of course made them all look. Some things you just can’t unsee.

It would be nice if we, as a society, could set the bar slightly higher than that.

As a society I wish we could set the bar higher than to accept that 40,000 die and millions more get injured in vehicle accidents. Poop and pee are annoying. 40,000 deaths are a complete travesty.

Seattle. It isn't the poop and pee that are annoying. It is the needles and the pot smokers that are far worse.

I was responding to a specific kind of poster.
Hahahahaha!!!!!!!
Now that is funny!!!!!

I am just so incredibly flattered that you quoted and referred to my post.
And, my post alone. (excluding other posts that seemed to be along the same lines as mine)
And now it is 'a specific kind of poster'

Thanks for the laugh!!!! :rotfl2:

Is it more than rare in your area? Even if a dad takes his child or a husband has to help his wife, it is still a fairly rare exception.

It is rare. I am agreeing with you. FWIW, I can’t recall ever seeing a man in the ladies room.

From a personal perspective, I don’t have any daughters, only a son, and I took him into the ladies room many times when he was little. It never occurred to me to go with him into the men’s room. Hypothetically, if I’d had a DD, I’m guessing that if DH were alone with her, he’d be more likely to take her into the men’s than the ladies room, but can’t really be sure. :confused3

They tried self cleaning bathrooms in Seattle but people just used them to do drugs and turn tricks.

Well, I was thinking of specific urinals that literally rise out of an underground storage area. There are different designs from different manufacturers, but one design made three divided urinals. I don’t recall if they they self cleaned or even flushed.

I know of street restrooms. San Francisco has had them for at least 20 years from a French advertising company called JCDecaux. I remember the deal was that they provided and serviced them for free in exchange for street advertising kiosks. At least initially they were 25 cents per use, although homeless services would distribute tokens. I’ve used them more recently, and they no longer accept any kind of payment.

The ad kiosks are in the same style.

I looked up what happened in Seattle, which was that city ordinances didn’t allow for trading ad space for the restrooms.

I said men. I don't care about lesbians as it isn't about sexual attraction or anyone peeping. It's just about having some modesty in relation to the opposite sex.

I have expressed my feelings on gender neutral bathrooms, which plenty of other women share. If some people choose not to respect my modesty or my feelings that is their decision, but I won't feel the need to keep explaining my feelings to the overly literal-minded.

But what is it about "the opposite sex" which bothers you, and requires your modesty? Is it just the way you were brought up? What is it about "men" that has triggered something to be modest about? As I pointed out before, not all men are attracted to women, and there are some women who are attracted to women. So, if it's not about attraction, what is it specifically that has it so women can't be in the same bathroom, with stalls, with men?

I think it is more proper for a man to take his young daughter into a ladies' room than a men's room if no family restroom is available. I have personally never seen this happen, though.

I take my 5 y/o daughter to the men's room when out and about. If there's a family restroom available I'll take her to that one. Now, if the ladies restroom is a single toilet restroom, like at the restaurant we go to on Saturday mornings, then I'll take her in there, but ONLY if it's a single room.

Men should not enter the women’s room. If your kid is old enough to go to school, they are old enough to use a washroom

If not, you take the child into your bathroom. Simple as that.

Women/teens/girls w anxiety or part of the #metoo movement do not need men in what should be a gender safe zone.

I would think if the adult is going INTO the restroom it should be the one of their sex. But I can see how with men & urinals that might not be appropriate for a young girl...hard situation. I am glad I had two girls.
