The Masked Singer- No Spoilers Please

Not sure of the ages here in this thread but Dd, SIL, and Ds all knew T Pain from his first song. I had no idea who he is but apparently he isn’t that obscure. He did win a Grammy.

Why he ever used auto tune I don’t understand. The man has an amazing voice. But maybe it was just “the thing” at the time.

Exactly which time zone are you talking about? West Coast? Hawaii? That's why it becomes the responsibility of each individual poster to stay away until they see the show. Once a show airs, the details are no longer considered a spoiler. Spoilers traditionally means ADVANCE Spoilers. As in info about the next week or what is not in the current show.

BTW, if (general) you don't want to know what is happening on a show on the DIS as it airs in Eastern Time, stay away from:

The Bachelor(ette)
Dancing With The Stars
Top Chef
Project Runway

These are only some of the show threads here and other p;aces on the Internet which have the same definition of Spoilers.

I'm done. Out of here. We can't talk about it when we watch it. We can't mention any details we might know about a specific star, because someone else doesn't know enough and thinks the info is only gotten through Googling it, so that is deemed a spoiler. Too many restrictions on this show's thread. :sad2:

Geez, this is quite the reaction for such a fun show and thread. If you didn’t like the ‘rules’ of the thread, why didn’t you start your own? Or, start one for next season when it starts. I will say, I agree that once the show airs in the east coast, stay off a thread until you have seen it.

Also, I don’t know how some of you nailed these obscure contestants. Rumer Willis? And the winner?

Just my opinion, I feel like some of the “predictions” on here were spoilers.

I’ve heard the name TPain before, but don’t know anything about him. I do agree that it seems like there was a lot of Googling done. I guessed Donny Osmond from the start based on the clues and his voice. I first mentioned the wig and cape with many colours on this thread which a lot of people are citing as the cement for Donny. I didn’t google that.

I think guessing them without googling has a lot to do with the music one listens to or the tv shows one watches or their age and who they are a fan of.

I would guess that there were as many young people last night saying "who is Donny Osmond?" as there are older folks saying "who is TPain?" Apparently in certain circles he isn't that obscure. Every Peacock clue pointed straight at Donny to me and others who know who he is and what he sounds like. For others, it was the same for TPain.

Maybe it was the same for Rumer and the others?

I am curious how much harder it will be for them to keep the contestants a secret for the next season. They did pretty good.

I loved this show! I knew it was Donny from the very first .. but I did grow up with him and did indeed have his poster on my bedroom wall! The clues sealed it for me. I have never had any interest in going to Las Vegas, but now .. hmmm, maybe trip to see him on stage is in order! This show was just pure fun, I enjoyed every week!

I love Donny, and Gladys too, but I was happy T-pain won. He is still so young and maybe this will help him to make a comeback if people can see him as a legitimate singer. He sounded awesome. Beautiful voice.

T-Pain got a bad rap for using auto tune and people assumed he couldn’t really sing. He was super young when he started and clearly was given bad advice.

On a side note...my DS actually had a T-Pain auto tune toy microphone when he was young

Did anyone ever figure out how Ayers Rock related to him? It seems like something way too specific to just be a random backdrop.

Well, that was fun. I never expected to like this show as much as I did, but it just made me happy! I look forward to next season.

Honestly, I don't think I consider anything a "spoiler" when nobody even knows for 100% sure the identities. In the end, EVERYONE is just guessing, but when you have millions of people watching, and social media, you're going to have a lot of people who figure it out early on.

As far as real spoilers, as in talking about an episode before it airs on the west coast, well being from the west coast I know to always stay away from a TV show thread until I watch the latest episode. No big deal. In fact, I DVR everything so I'm always waiting until the next day (or longer) to read TV threads anyway.

I really enjoyed this show which surprised me since normally reality TV shows is not my thing.

I knew peacock was Donny Osmond right from the get go. My mom is a huge fan of his and I recognize his voice and mannerisms right away.

Others were not as easy for me but I did start picking up on clues and had most of them figured out before they were unmasked.

I don’t pay for cable/satellite and I do not have an antenna so I had to watch every episode the next day on Hulu. I wouldn’t open this thread and I would delete my entertainment app every Wednesday morning so I wouldn’t open it out of habit and accidentally see who got eliminated before watching that weeks episode. I think it is pretty much common sense to not open a discussion thread about something you haven’t watched yet if you don’t want the surprise spoiled.

When I made this a no spoiler thread, I wasn’t talking about having to wait until the west coast had watched before we could start talking about it. I maybe should have called the thread no googling please. Guessing Gladys Knight because you recognize her voice is one thing. Posting a rundown on how many Grammys x, y, and z (pronounced zed :p) have won and linking a google list is what I wanted to avoid.

My DD10’s friend had a Masked Singer bday party a few weeks ago. It was so fun! They rented out our local Chuck E. Cheese (which now has a disco dance floor) and the ordered a bunch of those giant masks from Amazon. The girls went in the back, putt on a mask, and a onesie (so the “audience” couldn’t see their clothes), and performed for the parents and kids who didn’t want to perform. The winners were the ones no one could guess. It was a huge hit!
