I'm so bad at reading TRs and doing TRs. I'm trying to break that habit by starting a PTR. So here goes.

Dates: October 4th - 8th

Staying: HOJO

Cast: Me (36)
DH (43)
DD (6)

Went to DLR Halloween time for the 1st time in 2007, LOVED it :lovestruc Combination of perfect weather, pretty light crowds, and super cute Halloween stuff. Plus, if you go to the party, it's your chance as an adult to wear a costume inside the parks :woohoo:

We are going to the Halloween party on the 5th. Super excited since it moves to DL this year. :thumbsup2

Costume time!

DH will probably wear his beer hat.

DD6 hasn't decided.

Me: Cheshire Cat costume, yes it's a tween costume bought on clearance, but dangit, it's gonna fit!

And then, after making plans and reservations, Disney announces their new dance party, Electronica.

I never went to Glow Fest and thought it sounded awesome. Electronica sounds even better.

It's scheduled to start Oct. 8th, the date we leave :(

HOJOs is completely booked (10/8 is also a Halloween party date at DL, so understandable). So I booked a room at the Portofino for that night! I don't know if I will be able to convince DH though :( We have APs, and we drive, so the only extra cost is the Portofino ... which is the cheapest I could find that is walking distance/100% refundable/acceptable hotel. Hmmmm. I have until 10/6 to cancel :)

Dining!

I love food! And I love food at DLR! We have a few dining reservations. I pledge to take more food porn pics this trip. Because I love food porn. And I have very little food porn to claim as my own.

10/4: Naples at 8:30 (after the parks close). Love Naples. One of my faves at DTD.

10/5: Carnation Cafe Lunch at 11:50. This is an awesome people watching spot. And the loaded baked potato soup ... to die for ... and I'm not even a big soup person.

10/6: Planning on this being our WoC night. WoC virgin here! Not sure if I want to do dining at AG or WT, or do a picnic (much cheaper). Opinions?

10/7: Cafe Orleans Dinner at 6:30. Another prime people watching spot. And Monte Cristo for dinner! Don't forget peeps, you can't get the MC at the BB for dinner :)

10/8: go home...or stay for electronica? hmmmm.....

Non reservation dining:

I want to try a baked potato at TT, in FL. Haven't experienced that.
Will do Pacific Wharf - bread bowls and beer. Heaven. :cloud9:
Tigger tails. And white choc/raspberry cookies. At Pooh Corner
English toffee (the stuff they make fresh at DL) for DH
Happy hour at Tortilla Joe's?
Churros
Turkey leg?
Dole whip.
Free tortilla :rotfl:
Nachos at WWS

So much food ... so little room in the tummy. Sigh.

So much inspiration.

I'm of course aiming to do a few of these.

Funball and I are talking about going to McCormick and Smidts in Garden Walk for thier weekday or lay night happy hours.

We are going to do a picnic, I'll let you know how it goes. We just though about the amount of food at AG and thought it was too much. And we will be going to WCT anway so didn't want to spend the money to go there twice.

Ahhh skiingfast, thank you for visiting :wizard:

That happy hour at McCormick sounds so good. Definitely a possibility.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards picnic. I like the food at AG's, but we've been there SO MANY times for princess meals, not sure I wanna do that food again :confused3 The picnics are pretty reasonable with the AP discount, and not waiting in line for a FP ... :thumbsup2

I have one more food item to add. Those pretzel things at Pooh's corner. I heard today that they have caramel, which makes for a salty-sweet taste experience. Sounds divine.

OK, must go supervise shower/read books/tuck in DD6 before coming back to the boards. But before I leave for a bit, I must add that today has been one of *those* days - just really crappy, ya know? Nice to come to these boards and talk about something ... not crappy :rotfl:

So right now I'm wondering how long I should wait before plunking down the cash for our WoC picnics. It's not that big of a deal - I mean, we'll eat the food regardless of whether the show plan works out, but still ... I've never paid for a meal in advance at DLR! I know you can make reservations at AG or WCT, but I don't want to eat at either of those places. I've pretty much decided picnics are the way to go.

Let's see, what else. I'm waiting for DH to help me drag down the Halloween boxes from our garage loft (no attics or basements in Cali!). I want to check out costumes, and maybe start decorating around the house.

I went to Whole Foods the other day and picked up a box of Horizon milks. That's one of our DLR necessities. They don't need to be refrigerated. Just pop a few in the hotel fridge to chill, they don't take up much room. I bring some cereal (Smart and Final sells the cereal packaged in plastic bowls) and we have easy DLR breakfasts. We don't like to spend much time/$/energy on breakfast :)

And oh! Just got another message on FB from a mom at DD6's school. The school district is having a furlough in October (thus a lovely chance to go to DLR in October :) ) She tells me about their DLR trip ... conveniently at the end of our trip ... which is when I'm debating staying an extra night for Electronica. Hmmm, maybe this will convince DH to stay an extra night ... "Honey, we'll get to hang out with them ..." ;)

Now, I know of at least a dozen families from school that are going to DLR at the same time because of the furlough ... watch out, the sorry state of the California state budget might make early October be like Utah days in DLR!

Happiness is ... coming home to your Halloween stuff taken out of storage!

My neighbor is going through a divorce :( He was cleaning out his house, and knowing I'm a Disney freak, he offered me some decorations. Here's my free loot:

I love the Mickey Pumpkin!!

You sound much more organized than I am... I found it much easier to plan my WDW trip than I am having planning DL. Although I was planning for just my hubby and I the WDW trip and am trying to plan with a freind I don't see very often for this one..

hi smile4stamps! :flower3:

Let's see ... in DLR trip planning, I booked and paid for our WoC picnics for Wednesday 10/6. DH wanted the Asian one, I went for Italian, DD6 wants the one with yogurt and string cheese :rotfl: Whatever, I just want the easy FPs :thumbsup2 Plus I had a bit of money leftover on a free (Costco travel package) Disney gift card, and some Chase VISA disney rewards, so I only paid $3.24 for the 3 picnics :cool1:

Today I put up Halloween decorations around the house. Photos next!

1st, my new purse. Got it online from the Disney store after I spotted a friend who had it. I get compliments on it all the time. And most people don't even notice the mickey's!

So WoC picnic. I tried to pick it up early thinking I'd get Blue, but they told me it would be yellow then blue. They didn't know when they would switch to blue just said I could check back later.

Funball had the vegetarian Meditranean meal. She liked it. I tried it and liked it too. I had the European which had salami proscuitto and 4cheeses and water crackers. It was great, a light meal.

We got a good spot in the yellow section I couldn't of been happier. I'd advise that you read the map of of the WoC superthread. I think SScolumbia made it and put in some tips.

We didn't make it to McCormick and Schmidt's.

I did eat a tiger tail. A chocolate covered one, and a M&M covered pretzel, they both have a layer of caramel. Lost a lot of M&Ms to the ground. Both were good though.

We went with the Italian and Asian.

So costumes. Change of plans. DH decides he wants to wear one. Looking through my Family Fun magazine, I point out a costume that a little girl  is wearing. Deviled egg. He wants to be this. So he goes out and buys white Dickies pants, some yellow felt. He's going to pin yellow circles of felt on the front and back of a white shirt. Then accessorize with Devil horns, tail and pitchfork. Which he still needs to buy.

I tried on the Cheshire Cat costume, and it fits - but - the skirt part that they show in the photo, big section of purple sparkly fabric? It's totally not there. It has these pink and purple ruffles instead, which makes for an x-rated skirt. So I'm wearing it as a top. I have some purplish-blue American Apparel leggings that I can wear on the bottom that don't clash too much with the rest of the costume. I think I can make it work :) And oh - the tail is supposed to attach to the top with velcro -- yeah, not so much :sad2: I would lose that tail in less than 5 minutes. So I had to whip out the sewing kit and sew that sucker on :thumbsup2 All in all, I think it's cute.

DD6 says she wants to wear the belly dancer costume at Disneyland, then the SuperGirl costume for t-o-t around the 'hood. I miss the days where she wanted to be a Disney princess :guilty:

My all-time favorite costume that she wore was a Minnie Halloween costume, bought cheap on clearance from the Disney store online, probably 3 years ago? Lemme see if I can google a pic ...

Totally not my daughter, but this is the costume :)

Awesome news. We now have our room at the HOJO's for $79 a night (we stay in the premium rooms). Then they have the $59 rooms available for Friday night, so Electronica ... here we come! We won't have to switch hotels, just rooms! :cool1:  :cool1:  :cool1:
