ABC's of Trip Planning (Oct 10-20), Vol. 2- Z is for: Zippidee Doo Dah!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you see this: Hoping and praying for all those in it's path!

Florida's Walt Disney World theme parks will close at 5 p.m. Thursday and remain closed through Friday, Oct. 7. in anticipation of Hurricane Matthew, according to theme park officials.

The Category 4 hurricane is predicted to make landfall in Florida around 2 a.m. Friday. The storm could strengthen to a Category 5 hurricane before that, ABC News meteorologist Max Golembo warned.

The closures include Walt Disney World theme parks (Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney's Animal Kingdom Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios), water parks, Disney Springs, miniature golf courses and the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Dining and Disney Resort hotel cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for all Guests, according to the resort's help page

I just wanted to take a few minutes to post. My hands are really swollen again so only 2-3 replies to posts and they start to hurt so I have to stop.

OUCH! That just sounds awful! My rear end was in the same shape, so I DO understand! I really hope you can find something that will give you some relief at your next appt.!

First off @franandaj I just wanted to thank you for all you shared. The time you have taken to help me is so appreciated. I plan on speaking to my RA specialist about Actemera. 6 years of relief...I have almost given up hope on even a few months of relief, I would be over the moon with a couple years let alone 6 years. This would make the idea of getting a port a lot less frightful!

This is what's so great about the DIS- everyone is very willing to share their experiences and so often it ends up being of some use or help. And that goes for things WAY beyond Disney trip planning.

This sucks!!!! I hope it helps you even more. I have had the injections in my back. My experience has been that for the first day or two after the injection I have hurt so bad that I question why I did it in the first place, but then it slowly gets better. I would have relief for about 2-3 weeks and then slowly the pain would creep back in. It has been 6 or 7 years since I have had to have them (no issues with my back since I lost 150 lbs *knock on wood*) so can't remember exactly. I hope these shots kick in and really help for your trip.

That was me yesterday. It really hurt and even kept me up at night (so not much different than before the injection) but today was so much better and I'm really optimistic that the flights and driving will be bearable. And hopefully, I won't have to get them very often either!

July 2012 we had to deal with the aftermath of a hag named Debby! Tropical storms were aplenty during our entire trip. HOWEVER one of my fondest memories EVER at Disney was during this trip. During a down pour at the Magic Kingdom, myself, DD, and our good friends DD were swimming across the hub heading to Tomorrowland (DH, DS, good friend, and good friends DS were lamo and went back to the resort hours ago...no duck waddling for them!). We were seriously the ONLY people to be seen any where in the Magic Kingdom. It was such an odd feeling. We looked all the way down main street and there was no one. When we ran into a CM standing at the corner of the path to Tomorrowland we asked him what he was doing standing out in this mess, he said "waiting for the fireworks to start". We just couldn't even believe our ears... it was raining cats and dogs and they were having fireworks. He had to be messing with us so I just laughed and said "Nice one, you almost had me for a minute" and he said "I'm not kidding... rain or shine, the fireworks will always be set off." So we stood alone, on main street, and had a private showing of the Wishes Fireworks.

What a fantastic memory for sure!! Absolutely wonderful! I am actually hopeful that our first couple of park days will be less busy than usual since many will have left early or postponed arriving. With the threat of it circling back in, it could get quite wet. I have been in nearly empty parks at a teenager and we'd ride HM over and over and over...

This is just something that can't be put off! no siry bob! true story...DH was walking into Walmart one day and this lady at the hair salon was standing at the door and said to my husband "Hey, were having a special on brows today, you want to come in and I can get those caterpillars taken care of on your forehead?" :rotfl2: He was so offended by that lady and then when I just burst out laughing at him... well, he wasn't much happier.

That's hilarious! I'm sure she was trying to be funny, but... :rotfl2:

5 DAYS!!!!!! This is the time when it is either :dancer: or :scared1:

It's actually a whole lotta both right now! LISTS! Lists, everywhere!!!!

Glad your tush is doing better. That would have made for a miserable flight.
I have had the hot poker treatment on my knee, I know what you are talking about. I just saw the doc last week finally. Well, I see her every dsy, but I had her see me. anyway, we decided that the shot didn't help much so skipped thst. Got my MRI. apparently my meniscus looks like a chopped salad on all sides and I have no cartilage left, along with a huge Baker's cyst. On second thought maybe the shot worked well. I have an appt. On Thursday. My only concern is getting Sx soon enough to walk at DL, which is why I finally got this rolling.

WHOA!!!!! You needed to get in there and get that worked on! Glad you're finally getting something done about it; yikes! And yes, soon enough that it won't be an issue at DL. Although you in a scooter would be a crack up!

I am not so happy about the cash outlay. Fridge for the rental in oregon, along with broken dishwasher rack, with all of this is really squeezing my Disney wallet. I'm starting to pray it will rain money. :rotfl2:

Money. Such a silly inconvenience. (I do hope that the leaks to un-fun stuff!)

Whoa. Soooooon.

And even sooner now!!!

Sounds legit.
Also explains not bringing your Christmas lights.[/QUOTE

Maybe someday when I go during the Christmas season... Meantime, the Light Gremlins are doing fine work in the Christmas boxes disabling any functioning lights we put away.

You mean scripts?

:rolleyes1

Very good, my young Padawan.

I can't wait to see what you're getting me!!!

Oh? Were you planning to win a certain contest?

Fingers crossed.... you can't do that after the nails are done. At least not right away.

You Silly Billy. My fingernails are about as short as a January day in say... Winnipeg. I don't get my fingernails done, EVER. I chew them quite effectively and can't have them long or painted at work anyway.

I did know. Didn't realize it'd gotten quite that bad.

Sigh. Yeah, but I try not to be a whiner, so I didn't really talk about it.

So fairly mild?
I remember when we had our kids. I hardly felt a thing.

But you've made up for it ever since with driving them to school, paying for braces and getting up at OMG-thirty to put a roof over their heads.

At least she was thorough. No stoning left unturned, so to speak.

:lmao:

Perhaps one should be disinclined to talk about one's hiney and then use the phrase "looking up".
Just a thought.

You certainly do have a very good point there. I will be more careful in my phraseology.

I thought we were going to keep that between you and I?

Oopsies! (Dork)

Oh... Him.
Yeah, I've been nervously (for you) watching that too.

We're having quite a stormy relationship right now; stay tuned!

I think so too. Right now, it's looking like you're probably right, that you'll just miss it.

And now.... ? BTW, a serious PM coming...

Of course I know exactly what that is.
I'm educated, you know.

Glad I could be of some service! The things one must know #360: What eyebrow threading is

Don't underestimate the power of ramen.

Odd what some people are motivated with. How about a nice bowl of hypertension to go with your malnutrition?

Nice assortment of duds for your adventure! Looks like you are not planning on doing any laundry. Well done! I vote the Mule with Ginger vodka. It may settle your tummy a bit should you encounter turbulence. What's the problem with Ambien? Jim takes a Xanax and a beer before we take off. It allowed him to sleep like a baby while stuck on the plane for 2 hrs before takeoff at PDX our last trip home. Of course he would not be a good candidate for sitting in the Exit row. :crazy2: I'm praying Mr. Matthew will lose speed and go away already.

I am really hoping that I won't have to do any for me; my kids are another story. They just don't have as many clothes to take so we'll probably have to do some for them.

That is a great point about the ginger! Good thinking!

Ambien is a funny one. Really it can and does cause a hypnosis and people actually sleep walk and cook, and sleep shop and all kinds of funky stuff. I think I stay put and sleep VERY well when I take one of the very rare occasion I do, but in an unfamiliar place, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

As for Matthew.. I'm watching closely. Very, very closely.

So close! MATTHEW, GO AWAY, NO ONE LIKES A BIG BULLY!

AMEN!!!!

Oh, so that's why it hurt to numb my broken toe? That, plus the extra fluid making all the parts in the wrong place have extra pressure applied!

Lido hurts like crazy to go in. Today was a full day of hand surgeries, and I heard my patients say how much the lido and nerve blocks hurt going in all day long.

I am voting for the vodka (just in case you get a quick nap, don't want the Coke interfering!)

Another for the Mule

But then, clearly his bag is much smaller.

Are you saying I pack like a woman?

Whoa! So... off to Krapistan again, huh?

We checked 20 70# boxes, plus each of us had 2 HUGE carryons. That is NOTHING like when we moved. Each one was listed on a master manifest itemized. I never want to do that again.

PUT IT ON THE LIST!
Otherwise it'll get forgotten for sure.

Already on it. Saturday is the day for stuff like that.

Empty, right? Otherwise you'll just have to empty it when you get to security.

Of course. I've thrown WAY too many water bottles away. Finally learned my lesson.

I wonder how many (if any) time's you'll get a "Hi" from that?
I know that in two trips, I didn't get a single hint of recognition. So I stopped carrying one.
Hopefully you'll have better luck.

Likely NONE! But I did get 2 on my last trip; that was when the LGMHs were a bigger deal.

I've never done the tether thing. And yet people swear by it.
Guess I've just gotten in the habit of always putting it in the same pocket.

With my luck it'd fall out of the pocket, and I'd be stuck with no lens cap.

Wait. Please tell me you have a UV or Skylight filter on your lenses???

I'm going to put my polarizer on and just leave it there.

Huh. And it looks like he didn't have any trouble. Guess it wasn't that hard, huh?

He is one smart cookie. Er, I mean potato.

Good luck! Let me know if you find any!

I have no idea what a Mule drink is. And I'm way too tired to Google. So that gets my vote.

Just to be clear, the adjective is describing the hat, not Judy, correct? ;)

Oh of course! Judy is anything but "big" or "wide"! LOL!!!

Crossing my fingers for you that things work out with the storm and your flights!

Thanks, Lessa! It's the flights I'm kinda fretting about.

Sounds as if everything is coming together. Now just waiting to see what Matthew does. I hope you are able to have a wonderful trip. I am not a ginger flavor fan, so whiskey and coke would be my choice.

If I were to have to leave today it'd be good in that I'm pretty much ready. But very bad in that I probably couldn't even there right now. I think it'll be a great trip... just want to GET there.

Ok, a Coke and Yukon fan... noted!

Tate is pretty cute, I'm looking forward to his adventures!

I'm sure he will not disappoint!

I never spreassigned my clothes out on the bed like that, but somehow that doesn't look like 12 days of clothes to me. I guess you are smaller than me, so your clothes don't take up as much room.

Some of the capris and pants/shorts will be doubled up, so less bulk in that dept. :)

I think you should be good on Matthew by the time you leave. I hope there is no aftermath at Disney, but I suspect it will be near the Carolinas by the time you leave.

I am really hoping you're right. Models show it east of the Florida coast on Sunday with a possible doubling back early in the week; it's watch and wait...

I have no idea which booze you should drink. I've never had a Moscow Mule and I'm not a big whisky fan, so I'd play eenie meenie miney moe.

If you like ginger you might like the Mule. However, I make mine with a vodka base rather than bourbon. Lots of lime too.

I hope you survive worrying throughout these next few days.

I am trying. Really.

Here I go offering to give you a kick in the butt and then you're complaining about a pain in the butt. I hope you're feeling better a couple of days after the injections.

You kicked too hard. LOL! OUCH!

I actually am feeling a lot better. The injections ARE working finally; it really is so much more comfortable sitting now. Huzzah!

Matthew sucks. Hopefully your travel plans aren't affected.

IKR?!!! I think we're safe, but there could be some yucky flight delays.

I still say you didn't need to pack anything, just get a Yuengling. But if I had to pick one, I'm not a big fan of ginger. Whiskey all the way.

That's beer. Ain't happening.

Ok, that makes it 2 and 2. Will there be a tie breaker?

Did you see this: Hoping and praying for all those in it's path!

I saw this one this morning and on my break today I checked out some other pages. I also talked with Brook for about a half an hour this morning and things are just SO, so sad for the 5 families she's working with who (were) there. 4 of the 5 decided to leave early. :(

Finally got caught up--I hope you're feeling better and that everything is a go! The sooner Matthew moves out to sea, the better for all of us. For a while, it was looking like I was going to have to come into work this weekend but it looks like we'll dodge the bullet.

Safe travels and have a magical time!

Well I just saw on the news tonight that it's already downgraded to a cat 2. So that's a good thing hopefully. I can't believe how close its getting now. You can count in hours!

OFFICIALLY ON VACATION MODE. Sort of.

Today was running last minute errands, paying bills, blah, blah, blah. Kids ARE FINALLY packing which is a good thing!

Thanks a ton, Mark! Tushy is doing pretty good, and I *think* everything will be a go come 12:35 AM Sunday. Glad you can have that weekend off, and life will go on as normal. :)

I will definitely have a great time, and bring all the stories back your way. :)

Good news for everyone! My heart breaks for Haiti, though. :(

Good news for everyone! My heart breaks for Haiti, though.

It's awful, folks with substandard housing with an incredible hurricane is devastating. I hope that the loss of life doesn't go much further than we already know. It's already terrible.

*THIS* is exactly about 75% why I went into Nursing. When I get home, I am 100% committed to signing up with Medical Teams International and committing to one of our surgical company's trips to Honduras. It's WAY past time to give back.

Very good, my young Padawan.

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

Oh? Were you planning to win a certain contest?

You mean you won't get me a new toy unless I win?

<pout>

You Silly Billy. My fingernails are about as short as a January day in say... Winnipeg. I don't get my fingernails done, EVER. I chew them quite effectively and can't have them long or painted at work anyway.

Now that's short.
And I guess I should've known about the work aspect.
But you could get them painted for a holiday, no?

Sigh. Yeah, but I try not to be a whiner, so I didn't really talk about it.

Noticed.

But you've made up for it ever since with driving them to school, paying for braces and getting up at OMG-thirty to put a roof over their heads.

True.

You certainly do have a very good point there. I will be more careful in my phraseology.

Phraseology. A word I hear on a daily basis..

Odd what some people are motivated with. How about a nice bowl of hypertension to go with your malnutrition?

mmmmm.... malnutrition. Delicious.

You mean you won't get me a new toy unless I win?

<pout>

Is there something you REALLY want (within reason?)

Now that's short.
And I guess I should've known about the work aspect.
But you could get them painted for a holiday, no?

I have something a... bit less ordinary planned... But you'll have to wait for the TR for that.

Phraseology. A word I hear on a daily basis..

Really...? In your work context?

mmmmm.... malnutrition. Delicious.

Are you saying I pack like a woman?

Like a boss.

Whoa.

Already on it. Saturday is the day for stuff like that.

Good!

Of course. I've thrown WAY too many water bottles away. Finally learned my lesson.

Or shampoo.
A large bottle.
Twice, sort of. (same bottle.)

Likely NONE! But I did get 2 on my last trip; that was when the LGMHs were a bigger deal.

I'm doubtful... but hopeful too.
Guess you'll find out soon enough!

With my luck it'd fall out of the pocket, and I'd be stuck with no lens cap.

That is a very good point.

OMG! Less then 24hours and I should be in the air. After posting here I'm going to check to hopefully see our flight hasn't changed.
Probably will stop back on the DIS maybe later, but if not..
Have a safe (hopefully on time ) flight and a wonderful time till I see you!
Still planning on tue 10/11 Epcot morning. May be short and sweet but at least we can meet!! I have your number in phone and will give you a text : )

Got to get going...I have not. ONE. thing. in. the. suitcase. But I do have lists!
CYA!

Have a great trip Liesa!! And I guess I better do some guessing now before it is too late! Is there a hard deadline?
