I emailed Disney to ask for clarification on needing the first name. The problem I have is that nowhere on the letter or card does it state that the person's first name be given. It seems it is something they made up so that people couldn't use the discount once they got to the window.
This is their response:
Dear ,
Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.
We got in touch with Guest Relations and were told that for verification purposes it is necessary for them to know the complete name of the person that gave them the card.
Since the card is supposed to be given to friends and family, that should not present a challenge to the person who receives the pass along card.
If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.
Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if applicable on all correspondence.
