Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

Sadly I think some of the DeSantis drama is discouraging much investment in WDW, at least until it’s resolved.
World hasn't been getting any love for years.
As others have pointed out...there's been a LOT going on recently. A pause is not the worst thing in the world, and I suspect it won't last terribly long.

Disney Eats: Foodie Guide to Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month 2023

From Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort will be celebrating Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month! The culinary teams have been hard at work drawing inspiration from classic dishes and flavors of Hispanic and Latin American cultures, as well as personal additions from some of our talented culinary cast members.
Over the course of the festivities, and all year long, there will be a variety of mouthwatering delights that will transport you with each bite and sip, like the delicious Pollo Guisado at various Disney Resort hotels at Walt Disney World Resort or the (almost) too pretty to eat Cinnamon-Chocolate Mexican Sweet Bread Funnel Cake from Stage Door Café. You can even bring home the excitement with the Coco Skull Sipper available at Disneyland Resort.
If you want to get some additional tasty fun, check out Plaza de la Familia at Disney California Adventure park and all the yummy ways you can join in on celebrations honoring the traditions of Día de los Muertos in our Foodie Guide, including menu items inspired by the Disney and Pixar award-winning film, “Coco.”
But, with only a few more days until Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, let’s get to the Foodie Guide!

After graduating, he was hired by Disney and has since worked on the culinary teams at Victoria & Albert’s, Enchanted Rose, and Cítricos. The Braised Pork Panceta al Pibil features Berkshire pork belly with Chef Andres’ play on a cochinita pibil — a traditional Yucatec Mayan slow-roasted pork dish from the Yucatán Peninsula. One Sunday a month when Chef would have a family dinner, his uncle would allow him to taste everything that he made while he was preparing each item. Lechón Asado was always Chef Enrique’s favorite dish. While his uncle prepared the rest of the meal, Chef would prep and cook the Lechón Asado. His uncle is who inspired him to become a chef, and he learned so much about his culture through him. In honor of Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, Chef wanted to prepare the dish that really started it all for him. Although there are many more amazing Cuban dishes, the Lechón will always bring him back home.

Comcast and Disney Move Up Hulu Sale Talks Date to Sept. 30, Roberts Claims Hulu Worth Well More Than $30 Billion

Comcast and Disney last week signed a modification agreement to bring forward the timing of their formal Hulu sale talks to Sept. 30 from its previous January 2024 timeline, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts says.

Speaking at an investor conference Wednesday, Roberts says all the synergies around Hulu could be worth $30 billion, before you even ascribe value to Hulu. The previous minimum number of $27.5 billion for Hulu was “hypothetical,” per Roberts, with the company “way more valuable” today than it was when that number was set.

Roberts says proceeds from Comcast’s sale of its Hulu stake would be returned to shareholders.

Can also add to this list Journey of Water

But no announcements in over 5 years for the 4 WDW theme parks? Other than the Splash reskin and the tree lined sidewalk.

Runaway (a reskin), Rat GotG and Tron all announced in 2017, all started construction in 17 18 or 19.

A lot did get announced in 2019 for Epcot like Play Pavilion, Mary Poppins and Journey of Water but the pan happened causing most of it to be cancelled. 2020 was the announcement of Tiana's Bayou Adventure
Also, most of things opening now where announced pre-2020 like Zootopia Land, World of Frozen at HKDL & WDS, Fantasy Springs at TKDL.
In fact, the most recent announcement was Tiana's Bayou Adventure in 2020, the Toontown Revamp in 2021, and San Fransokyo Square & Avengers Multiverse Attraction in 2022. I think it's safe to say all the parks worldwide could do with some announcement about what is coming post-2024.

They gave loose ideas for Dinoland and Beyond Big Thunder because they don’t have things finalized. They did the same thing with loosely sharing the changing of the spine of EPCOT before announcing more official what was coming a year or so later.

Don't forget that the Spaceship Earth refurb was cancelled too. That's the one that should've happened, even if it was just ripping out the track and replacing it. Oh and make the descent not embarassing and lame.

Forgot about the initial Epcot overhaul concept art in 2017. It all depends on if they are going to announce anything at Destination D23 or wait until next year's D23 Expo as pre-2020 they often kept announcements for D23 Expo rather than Destination D

Yeah Saturday I would expect to mostly be something like Moana opening date, Figment arrival in EPCOT, more info on the New Nighttime show in EPCOT, D100 stuff and maybe something additional about Tiana’s.

And Galactic Starcruiser was announced too. It didn't get cancelled due to a pandemic. Just a series of bad decisions causing it to be cancelled after a year (+/-) in operation.

I won't forget the 2019 D23, mainly because of the Obi-Wan show announcement and I love Obi-Wan, but also because I love Dick Van Dyke and they had him make the the Cherry Tree Lane announcement. Now, Dick will always be known to me as TWDC's messenger of false hope for EP. :)
