We just disconnected from Spectrum - formerly Time Warner - and now have Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu. We are going to see if we miss having cable. What do you have? Are you happy with it? Are you contemplating making changes?
I need internet for my phone , as I don't have a cell phone. And it would have been more expensive to not have cable hooked up. We used to have only internet and netflix and hulu and the phone. The the prices went up so much , we had to add the cable to bring the cost down. I was trying to save money. Well that put a halt to things. I am not happy but not much I can do.
Are you by chance a COMCAST customer? Because that sounds like Comcast's evil ways...
Yes that is the BS line that Comcast always feeds their customers. If you cancel cable we will increase your bill so you are paying more for internet only. They pull that crap on me and I called their bluff and said fine cancel everything. They "found" a plan for me so I only pay $39.95 per month for internet. Much better than paying outrageous fees for cable.
Yep, I have cable, and the premium channels, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix through my Apple TV. Clutch your pearls boys and girls, because I also have a fully funded retirement portfolio, but OMG! The irresponsiblity though. Its so wasteful and I'm rotting my brain with every re-watch of True Blood and Mad Men, and I love it.
Seriously, I'm single, you can take the remote at night out of my cold, dead, tv watching hands. I have certain shows that I'm willing to pay the money for. Let's say I watch just 4 hours of Netflix a month - total cost per hour of entertainment? Nominal. I think of all cable in those terms and it really isn't that bad. And honestly, I have so many channels, there is never a time I can't find Law & Order reruns, which I find super soothing in my creaky house alone at night.
Lol. All right. I'll come clean You caught me in a lie. I DO miss those law and order reruns. SO MUCH. To be honest, I don't pay for cable simply because I haven't figured out where to put a TV...the choices are: on bookshelf, over window, on the ceiling, or in the middle of the very limited floor space. It's nothing to do with financial irresponsibility. If I could solve that problem, I would have brought a big flat screen tv home from Costco AGES ago.
We have DirecTV including HBO and Netflix and Amazon. I also love Law & Order (particularly SVU) when I can't sleep way too often and Frasier reruns are a necessity for me. I guess that we really should add Hulu...Yep, I have cable, and the premium channels, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix through my Apple TV. I could pretty easily do without the networks though. I watch very little on those.
I just think people get so funny about cable and having TVs. I swear to god, if there's some vegan, smoking, TV esqueing dude in Eash Nashville, I've dated them, or they've tried to date me and make me recant my cable loving behind. I have 3 of those big flat TVs and I'm NOT SORRY! Lol, seriously I have one hanging up in my bedroom right now, and I'm watching Golden Girls and its awesome. I would totally be in AWE of someone dedicated enough to have a TV on the ceiling. I mean - whoa! Do it! I don't know how it would work, but I want to see it
