There is however no suggestions I can make as it's obviously broken.

"Thank You".....for replying.;)

Well I guess that's fairly obvious - LOL!

Too bad everyone has to keep asking the same question over and over on the various boards rather than whoever is in charge simply putting up a post that says, "The email notification system is currently not operating. We are aware of - and working on - the problem.."

Lots of folks are blaming it on their AOL services and for once, there's a glitch that DOESN'T seem to be AOL's fault!! Shock!!!

Yup! Pretty obvious :)

Yes, I suppose the WM's could post a message on all forums, but as this is an issue only affecting a very small minority, that wouldn't be of interest to the hundreds/thousands of other posters would it? That's the very reason why the Technical Support forum exists in the first place.

I will ask the Moderators on the other boards to keep an eye open and ask that all these posts be moved over here where they belong :)

Broken... yes.

WM's are aware... yes, that too is true Disneymad.

How you stumbled upon my plan to enlist a small army of pink Webfooted Monkeys is of great concern to me. This classified bit of information was to remain Top Secret until the entire pink Webfooted Monkey army was rounded up, adequately trained on navigating the DIS Boards, and instructed on proper phone etiquette.

Now that you've jumped the gun and let the monkey out of the bag, you will be hearing from my lawyer and I am being forced to let eveyone else in on the new and improved, personalized post notification system.

It all started Monday around 5:00pm when MSN, AOL, and other ISPs implemented their new spam busting systems. We all knew it was coming, just not quite this soon. Believe me, we've been rounding up the pink Webfooted Monkeys for weeks in anticipation of this event. However they are not all that bright, they're rather difficult to train, and they keep jumping from the DIS to the plethera of pink webfooted monkey porn sites. So I trust you can all understand the dilemma and the problems we've been experiencing.

At this point the monkey bank is 78.2% staffed, so if you would like, please start posting your home, work, and cell phone numbers here along with your board name, full legal name, home address, and social security number and the monkey team will start scouring the boards looking for new posts for you. As the monkeys have not yet learned the concept of time, be prepared for calls at all hours of the day and night, especially when you're in the shower, or are in the middle of your favorite TV show.

Don't say you weren't warned.

Well that's certainly cleared a few things up! Glad to see an expert has taken on the case :)

I hope the glitches work out soon. It is a great feature! I wonder why I am still getting spam but not my email notifications from here!

No need to post it on all the boards.. I - as did others - assumed that is why THIS board exists - and before all the posts were condensed together, there were several threads here asking about the problem - and getting no replies..

I don't agree with your post above, I think this affecting more than a "small minority".
I agree with C.Ann, instead of replying back(finally) with a sarcastic reply, a tech support person could have posted a notice at the top of the tech forum thet "e-mail notifications are temporarily out of service".
It was kind of riduculous that no -one(tech support) answered a simple question"are e-mails notifications working"?

I posted this question a couple of weeks ago and got NO reply. I also have been having other problems with these boards and posted about them, too. For some reason this site refuses to recoginze my old user name and will not allow me to post, so I had to reregister with another email address and user name.

I think that the email may just be the tip of the iceburg with problems

I also have not received any e-mail notifications since this past weekend. I checked my setting today & figured I would ask the question on this board this evening.

I'm still getting spam mail.

I hope the problem gets fixed. I'm so sad :( when I check my e-mail and there are no DIS responses. :( :(

I just bumped three posts that all state that it is either being worked on or it is working. One of them was even posted by you stating that it was being worked on. Starting multiple threads will not get it solved any quicker than posting to an existing thread. We work hard at getting things running and when you guys think we are ignoring you it really gets to us. If there are 12 threads that state the same problem, they will not all get answered. Please take the time to at least look at page one to see if there are already threads stating your problem.

JC

Just because an answer is one you don't like, doesn't make it sarcastic  I haven't added up all the individuals that posted on this thread and the one on the CB, but there are thousands of active users on this site that aren't affected by this - it's not difficult to do the math.

Tell me... if granny mailed you a letter every week and it didn't arrive, would you blame her? Is it her fault? Would you demand answers from her? NO. You'd take it up with the USPS - the deliverer.

beachesncreamgal - if you want to try and sort the problem with your old user name PM me with it, I can look into it.

Can someone let me know if I will get the notifications if I change my email address??? Or would I have to resubscribe (argh and find) all the threads I have subscribed to?

Thanks....just hoping I guess.

As far as I know, you would not have to re-subscribe. I've never tested it for that before, but I don't see how it wouldn't keep your threads listed for you.

JC

Changing your email address is a starting point, but you will need to change it to an address that will allow the mail to come in. Simply changing to a new AOL address will not work.

Your current thread subscriptions will still be in place.

If you go to your User Control Panel you can see all of the threads you are currently subscribed to, as a matter of fact you can check that to see if there has been any activity on your favorite threads.

JC,
FYI, I did check the whole 1st page of the Tech boards about this problem(notifications) and not 1 thread was answered by a tech support person.

Also, if AOL is the only affected server affected, I think it affects a lot more people than you think, considering it is the #1 in users compared to any other ISP's that people subscribe to.

Don't you think it would have been considered "helpfull" if a tech support moderator would have put a post on page 1 of the Tech boards stating that AOL users will not be recieving e-mail notifications, because of a problem?

So why start another one? You were aware that it was being worked on from the 5/27 post above.

Usually there is no need for us to and again, it's not us, it's AOL blocking the mail. Why would we announce a problem with the way your ISP handles mail?

JC

I am not an aol user and I am not receiving notifications so it's not just an aol problem. Just thought I'd mention that. Not complaining or anything. I understand it's being worked on. Thank you!
